it's even more amazing how many tickets Skyfall has sold in an age of online piracy and home theater systems.
Agreed, but with positive word of mouth and feedback and reviews, it doesn't surprise me more people are wanting to see this in the theater. More than once, hell twice, I might add.

well my father doesnt go to the movies at allI actually know a few people who have seen it multiple times. A guy I work with has gone four times, and another co-worker of mine mentioned that everybody she talks to has seemed to have seen it twice or more. Some of these people aren't even huge Bond fans, mind you. It shows that not only is Skyfall a good Bond film, but a good film in general.
the only movies in the last 10 years he saw on the big screen were CR & SF

of course I made him do it but he didnt regret it

Any news on whether Skyfall's overtaken Avatar at the UK Box Office chart?
As of Sunday Skyfall was around £93.5m in the U.K. So about £500k short of Avatar's all time record, it should get there in the next few days.

according to this site Avatar managed £93,442,625 - so hasn't it been overtaken?

Even if it hasn't made it yet, Skyfall will become the highest grossing film ever in the UK. That's pretty insane.
Only downside is: the next Bond film will come with ridiculously high expectations, a la Dark Knight Rises.

I'd rather have a So-So Bond film than a complete huge let-down Bond Film.

I have my doubts at this point that Skyfall will be able to crack $1 billion. It appears to be slowing. However, I feel that Mendes and Logan can craft a better follow up than TDKR. Especially as there will be no Marion Cotillard.

The Dark Knight Rises is too ambitious for its own good. I hope that whatever follows Skyfall keeps its feet on the ground. There is only so much you can fit into a two hour film.

Wow, the producers must be happy on their way to the bank. It would be great if it bet Avatar.

It already did $150 million in the UK.
You mean 100 million pounds.

Oops, hit the wrong key - the pound and dollar being next to each other - . It corrected now.

Now, after more receipts have come in, the all-important 94 number has been reached, making Skyfall the biggest-selling movie in the history of British cinema. That precise number? £94,277,612. £94,277,612 in 40 days, no less, which is all the more staggering considering Avatar got to that number with the help of both inflated 3D ticket prices and an 11 month timespan.
That's truly incredible. Beat Avatar in 40 days...
How is Skyfall doing against Goldfinger and Thunderball, adjusted for inflation? Anyone know?

Skyfall has next weekend still with no real new threats being released in theaters. December 14th brings us The Hobbit which will probably suck up the movie dollar and signal the end of Skyfall's run.
Among other things, it will knock SF out of the Imax theaters. Of course, since SF would be expected to be tapering off pretty heavily at that point anyhow, it's hard to know how much impact the Hobbit will have. But then, I think SF has had much better legs than many people were expecting--it may not falter as much as we think.

Drat, hubby and I were hoping to make it over to Halifax to see "Skyfall" in IMAX, but between his work schedule and mine, we may not get there in time. Oh, well.

I don't know anyone that has seen this new Twilight film, are they even any good? I've never watched one.
