A) They wouldn't cut an IMAX trailer and have it passed through certification boards if it wasn't going to play in worldwide IMAXes. It'll be attached to TDKR next week, which I'm seeing Thursday @6:30 in IMAX, so, yay....

B ) Being touted as an IMAX exclusive (and 3 minutes, which is long for a conventional theatrical trailer) strongly suggests it may not be available 'officially' online, but with Sony's Total Recall remake approaching quickly (in early August), there'll almost certainly be something attached to that - if not a 2 minute theatrical trailer also available online, then this trailer.

I'd be surprised if the IMAX exclusive trailer was released online. They didn't release TDKR prologue to the web, after all, so I'd be willing to be Sony will be following suit. We're going to have to pay to see it, if I had to guess, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Agreed. I would be very surprised as well. Warner did a good job of making sure that the TDKR prologue never made it on the web in any shape or form, and given the tight-lid that Sony and EON have had over the production of this film, I wouldn't be shocked either if they followed suit and only let a portion of the moviegoing public see the trailer.

It was online for a while, on youtube no less.

Yeah, I won't be surprised at all if the trailer ends up online unofficially. I just don't see the harm in releasing it. I mean, yes, you want to keep things secret from a film making and story point of view, but from a marketing point of view you should want as much hype playing in front of as many eyes as possible.

I was actually annoyed they released the Skyfall teaser when they did. Could have been out much sooner. Many studio franchise tentpoles are putting teasers out a full year before the films are released - TDKR last summer, Superman this summer (attached to TDKR).

At this point, we're what? 4 months from Skyfall's release? 3? It's ridiculous - ridiculous - that there isn't an epic theatrical trailer out now, attached to every single one of these blockbuster tentpoles.

EDIT: Just realized that the first Quantum trailer was, what? Early July? That seems even crazier in retrospect.

That would be overkill. I remember seeing a trailer for Prometheus, that ran before MIB:3, which showcased Idris Elba (I saw at the Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem). With so many sequels, prequels and re-boots this summer, I'm glad that there hasn't been a hard sell for Skyfall as yet (and by extension I'm glad the series isn't released during the summer anymore).

Expect to see the promotional push come September. Beyond another trailer and TV spots, expect commercials from Heineken and any other brand that's directly attached to the production.

There's some truth to that. I'm not complaining about my personal exposure to the film - lord knows, I'd rather see as little of it as possible prior to release (just can't help myself;), but the film calendar has usually wound so far down by September that trailers introduced then just don't get play. There should be a trailer attached to every Dark Knight Rises print in the world. It's 007.

For an "Exclusive" first look at the trailer, they would be keeping a very close eye to make sure noone was filming - and anyone caught attempting to would be dealt with quite severely.

The very first trailer for "Dark Shadows" was only released on March 15, and it had its premiere on May 9. So less than 2 months before the films release.
Same for "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" in 2007: first trailer in march, movie in May.

Dark Shadows and 007 aren't comparable, though. And I don't think Dark Shadows did spectacularly well, did it?

I hope it does play in front the TDK next weekend. I would expect this to be online at some point. It would seem kind of silly to create a promotional spot for a major movie & only show it to limited audiences.

My guess would be Monday, but as it hasn't leaked I suppose they might hold it for a bit longer into the week.

I guarantee it'll be in front of The Dark Knight Rises next week. And if not, then stick me in a room and have Stamper's men beat me up then.

Films have more than one trailer in front of them, so it could have both. Don't take my word on it, I can't say either way if it will or wont, but just because the trailer for MoS is showing, doesn't rule out Skyfall

With any luck, they're going to show the Man of Steel trailer in about an hour or two at the Comic Con panel. Should be descriptions of it online everywhere immediately afterward. Doubt they'll post the footage itself yet, though. They'll want to hold it until after or just as TDKR opens with it.

Die Another Day had three trailers, correct? I know the last two films have only had a teaser and a theatrical but being that it's the 50th maybe we'll have this new trailer attached to Batman in IMAX and then later a final trailer in front of Total Recall. Just a guess, but I'm actually surprised we'll have a new trailer so soon after the last. In any event, this is definitely an exciting time to be a Bond fan. The build-up to the movie release is part of the fun.

Seriously hope there's a brand new Bond theme with this trailer! Like an expanded version of the electronic one from the Skyfall teaser.

Quite a few rumours doing the rounds on Twitter that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will be preceded by both MAN OF STEEL and SKYFALL trailers, but no way of telling whether that stemmed from discussions on these very forums!

I'm seeing THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in IMAX Digital on Friday so not sure whether that will qualify for the exclusive trailer, if that's what is going to happen. Just over five days to wait to find out though.

I have 6:30pm (Thursday) tickets. I'll try to confirm it, too. ;)

But it's a special corporate screening, so they may not run trailers at all in front of it. Unclear at this point.

If this is attatched to The Dark Knight Rises, will it be an IMAX exclusive? I have tickets booked for a regular showing (No IMAX unfortunately) on friday night, what are the chances that it'll be attatched to a regular screening?

You never know, but this does seem like an extended IMAX cut. My guess is if it were the theatrical trailer, we'd be getting more Javier. I'm even more annoyed I didn't book my midnight tickets sooner. Sold out near where I live. Won't be able to get a look until Sunday at the earliest.

If it's really 3m 1s, that definitely seems like an IMAX-exclusive type showing to me. Otherwise it would be one of the longest conventional theatrical trailers in recent years.
