We will have the new trailer (not the IMAX one) in a week.
So if this is the one zencat saw, we might have the first official look at the baddy this week.

Where'd you find this nugget of info?

We (the Swiss Bond Club) are in contact with our distributor. The stuff with the first look is speculation on my side.

Hope you're right. Releasing it online in correspondence with the Olympic games is a good idea. With Bond being a highlight in the opening ceremony, and for the high probability that people will be youtubing the entrance, I think the timing for EON to unveil some new footage will be prime. Time will tell, of course.

That would make a lot of sense, actually.

I'm sure Skyfall will get a mention from the talking heads commenting on the opening ceremony.

In fact, Danny Boyle is handing Skyfall a massive freebie. I wonder if he'll get a pay-back in the form of a job in the future?

I hope Daniel Craig will be okay when doing what he is rumored to do at the opening... it sounds pretty dangerous.

Should be pretty amazing with the footage already filmed and doing it live in the stadium with Craig - I think he should be in safe hands and he'll pull it off. He always seems to put 110% into everything he does.

...and fingers crossed we DO get something 'Skyfall' based! Even maybe just let the trailer go on-line to coincide with the Olympics opening, let's get Britains top spy out there in the public eye too!

Yeah I've got my fingers crossed for Daniel. Hope he gets through it without incident. I'm sure it's really just a matter of blocking everything out and just doing what he practiced at the speed he practiced. Still looking forward to it. When does the opening ceremony take place, by the way? Evening in London, afternoon on the East Coast of the US?

It starts at 9pm, GMT - I think that will be about 4pm East Coast time. It's on or 3 hours I think, so it should be good!

I wonder if James Bond will get to light the Olympic Couldron in the stadium? That will be a moment and half!

Not a chance I hope; that would be terrible and undermine all the athletes in my opinion, but I'm still interested to see Bond's role in the ceremony.

Classified today? Ohh, how long was it before the teaser was classified before we had it online? Nice spot Oatesy!

And Vauxhall - fair point I guess, just wrapped up in Bond-age more than the Olympics but I see your point. Makes more sense really! Still, should be a great stage for our man.

I was about to say the same - just checked. The teaser was rated on May 10th and released on May 21st.

Not sure there's any reason to take that too rigorously seriously as a waiting time.

The IMAX trailer was rated on July 12th, which is about a week or so before the comic books conference thingy.

I'd be very surprised if he'd be doing any stunts- he's not a stuntman. I'm sure, if this is happening, they'll be able to work a switch somehow.

Actually judging by when this topic was started, the UK rated the trailer two days after it was shown the first time in the US. So anything is possible

Something is really confusing me here. I'm sure the IMAX Exclusive doesn't run for 3 minutes. The online leak last for 2:41 (From when the green preview thing starts), so I don't understand why it's been classified as a 3 minute long trailer? It doesn't make sense.

Yeah I didn't quite understand that discrepancy either. I mean....it's almost three minutes....

According to the BBFC it sort of does:

When a film is transferred to video the running time will be shorter by approximately 4% due to the differing number of frames per second. This does not mean that the video version has been cut or re-edited.

3 mins is 180s; take 4% off and you have 173s, which is around the 2m52s mark. Maybe dodgy mobile phone recordings end up even shorter.

Or it might be something else - seeing as we're looking at a sneaky mobile video of an IMAX screening.

How long does the green preview screen last on the leaked trailer (sorry don't have access to youtube at work)? Isn't it usually about 10 seconds? If so the 2:41 leak could be the same as the 2:28 rated by the BBFC (the green screen being a US certificate that won't be on the version rated by the BBFC)

The poor quality leak is definitely the three-minute IMAX Exclusive, albeit with the beginning and ending slightly clipped.

The newly rated trailer is more likely to be the version that zencat was shown last week.

Clock doesn't start when the footage starts, or even the green screen. There's a solid 10 seconds or so in front of "IMAX presents.....[new screen]....A SKYFALL Imax Exclusive...." that isn't captured in the bootleg. At least, there was when I saw it. From the start of that to the end of the trailer, 3m1s would feel about right.

Glad to see the new theatrical's been confirmed at 2:28. Seems like the "meat" of the trailer will be a least 2:20 of footage, then. Plenty. I'd imagine there'll be quite a lot of overlap with the Imax trailer, though perhaps without full renditions of the Q and Severine scenes. Might mean we'll get something even newer.

Just hoping to god it's the same music. I want a high quality audio rip of it. It's intense.

Indeed. I'd say this will be the trailer attached to Total Recall on the third of August. Seeing as how Sony/MGM don't have any other major releases between now and November, they have to strike early. In 2006 there was a trailer attached to Borat in October (if I remember correctly, which was a film by 20th Century Fox) and another film released in late September that didn't represent a substantial box office draw (it's driving me nuts thinking about what it was, can one of you other old timers remind me?). Total Recall will likely be the last really successful film of the summer (apart from the Bourne Legacy). It'll be attached there, and to miscellaneous prints in the run up to the film's release. We'll likely have it by the end of next week. Maybe sooner. Like I said, I think it would make sense to unveil the trailer near the Olympic ceremony as it sounds like Bond will be getting a pretty substantial publicity push anyway.

The production company is just that, the company that produces the film. Seeing as the studios, MGM and Sony's Columbia Pictures are distributing it, it's all them. However seeing the James Bond franchise being owned by EON, it could be them. (snip)

TANGENT ALERT

Eon owns half the franchise. MGM owns the other half, the half that, once upon a time, was Harry Saltzman's. (United Artists bought it, MGM bought UA, etc.)

END TANGENT ALERT

Thank you for your TANGENT ALERT. Sorry about that, you are right, surprised I forgot about that as well.

In the UK, the Olympics are broadcast on the BBC, which doesn't show adverts.

Sorry boys. REALLY blonde and really confused. (everyone's saying something different ...)
Is the new trailer 3 minutes? 4 minutes? or 2 & a half? (there abouts)
Are you saying the 3 minute one is really 2 & a half???????
Is there 2 or 1? An IMAX one and one for regular cinemas?
Please help. I'm on the vodka - LMAO.

As far as I know...

1. IMAX Exclusive preview - just over 3 minutes long.
2. New trailer expected to be released very soon in regular cinemas and online - approximately 2 minutes 41 seconds.

Some of the footage will be the same in both of them, other bits will feature in only one or the other.

Isn't that 3 months?

Anyway, as we head into the last 90 days, I’m expecting quite a bit within the next week or so – New trailer, title song artist announcement...
