As far as I'm aware none of us has an option, do we? So we're probably all members of the same lap-dog club, only some of us whine more about it than others.
Sure EON aren't going to listen to a cross section of Bond nuts on a forum - nor should they. But if the general masses agree with an idea/opinion and people generally start voicing displeasure (eg. QOS was a terrible Bond film or whatever) - they do take notice. They might not act upon it, but I believe they are smart enough to at least take it onboard. Revolution baby!

Anyway, I came across this on Tumblr - one of the press pics of the premiere after-party at Tate Modern...spoiler-tagged it just in case.

Can anyone who has seen the film confirm/deny?

Quite. The only relevant opinion with this regard is that of the general audience. It's just doubtful audiences are going to feel as passionate about the matter as we do. And of course nothing keeps the producers from changing things back somewhere down the line as they please.

There you have. Nearly the 70% likes to have it at the beginning. BTW, isn't "At the beginning, completely ruining the pacing of the film, and making the very first shot look strange as it follows such a needed tradition. Remember, if it's not at the start then it's OBVIOUSLY NOT A JAMES BOND FILM." a little subjective?

The adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" comes to mind.
To be sure, there have been many things in the "James Bond playbook" that have needed to be tweeked/changed (silly and implausible Q gadgets, risque female names like "Onatopp" or "Goodhead", etc) because they've become antiquated or passe with the passage of time. However, the gunbarrel scene is not one of them!
That said, gunbarrel or not, I plan on seeing SKYFALL at the earliest showing on Nov. 9th! (Damn your luck, you 007 fans who live across the pond! LOL)

to quote a part it says
"We also thought it would be a nice way to mark the fiftieth anniversary, by having our 50th anniversary logo up there"
could this mena it will open with the 50th logo and go into the film from there?

Wherever the director thinks it belongs.

I'm pretty sure that the gunbarrel becomes the 50th logo at the end, with the words "James Bond Will Return" on screen.

I'd really like to know this too. I thought putting it at the end was just another one of the horrible QOS decisions and, of course, it would be corrected in SF. But apparently not. What's up with this?
I don't get why the gun barrel isn't at the start, but I don't particularly care either. It's not something that makes or breaks a movie.
It would be interesting to know why the producers decided to place it at the end.
Well, here's my take on it: SKYFALL is still part of the BOND BEGINS era. And it's probably the last of what will turn out to have been the BOND BEGINS trilogy - after
BOND 24 will therefore see our hero (whether played by Craig or someone else) back to being The Bond We All Know And Loveā¢, and the gunbarrel will be back at the beginning of the film.

it's hard to see what else can be brought to the origin story table for BOND 24.
Smithers,
Sylvia Trench,
Double-taking wino,
Jaws,
Gogol
Freddie Gray
J. W. Pepper
Then we'll finally have James Bond back.

No, then we'll have a Connery/Moore potpourri, just in time for Christmas.

Anyway, the design is the same as in the pics from the afterparty that I posted yesterday. IMO an improvement over Quantum, really good job.
