"Where do you prefer the gunbarrel to be?" or "Do you care where the gunbarrel is?" are much better questions.
Complete Skyfall Gunbarrel spoilers:
I loved the film by the way, some people are going a bit nuts and hyperbole as "Best Bond EVAAA!!!" and I even read online somewhere "Better than all the others combined!"
Steady there :/
but its *very* good and beautifully shot.

After seeing Skyfall in my opinion the placement of the gunbarrel is absolutely justified.
This. Could not agree more.

Same here. It makes the ending even more poignant and effective. Also, the beginning is not just starting with the film... EON seems to have decided to open the Craig Bonds with variations of the gun barrel.

Quoted for truth. The poll should have a "don't care" option.

Haven't seen one I liked since Binder. It worked originally in part because of it's simplity (and how it was done, timed, etc), and I'm not sure anyone would have the restraint to just do it straight without trying to add their own "creative" (read "awful") CG "spin" on it. As a logo or "signature" at the end of the film, I guess it's harmless and kind of cool, but imitations rarely work because the imitator usually doesn't understand what made the original work.
I guess I'm in favour of the BB-MGW films differentiating themselves from the ARB-HS films wherever possible (while still remaining James Bond films, of course. "different, but the same", instead of "the same, but different", which may sound like semantics but is actually a major, and I think, positive, change in mindset and intent). Maybe someone new can come up with something new.

it's hard to see what else can be brought to the origin story table for BOND 24.
Smithers,
Sylvia Trench,
Double-taking wino,
Jaws,
Gogol
Freddie Gray
J. W. Pepper
Then we'll finally have James Bond back.
No, then we'll have a Connery/Moore potpourri, just in time for Christmas.
And I thought Christmas only comes once a year...

I'm sure the movie's still great, regardless of where the gunbarrel is. But it's one of those things you expect at the start of a 007 film. Like the Star Wars theme and scrolling text, it's a staple of the franchise, and it gets you psyched for what you're about to watch. I can understand it's placement after the pre-title sequence in Casino Royale and at the end of Quantum Of Solace. It provided bookends to Bond's origin story. But that story's been told. He's earned his 00 status. He has become James Bond. He's earned the theme music and gunbarrel sequence in their proper places. And considering it's James Bond's 50th anniversary, you'd think they'd give us a traditional gunbarrel sequence at the start of the movie rather than the end. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to the movie and Q's return to the series.
Agreed! Couldn't have said it better myself
Plenty of people in the cinema where I saw it stood up and started to leave before the gunbarrel started, and my girlfriend said to me, 'come on, let's go', I was like 'DOOD! WOT R U DOEN!? This is what I came here for.'

Having said that, the placement is indeed justified, but should be back where it belongs in the next film.

And like others, I also had people standing up during it. Sort of diminishes the effect.
On reflection I would have stuck it on the beginning- I don't think it serves much purpose on the end and people aren't bothered about watching it at the end.

Found this on Tumblr. Interesting, since it's not the one I saw.
Spoiler
Looks like the Brosnan barrel. Again, not what I saw.
