Connery wore a number of them, some succesfully, some not so.

I wasn't correcting you, I was laughing along - more joining in the joke. Not that I minded his hair piece, wasn't noticeable most of the time.Hair Piece, Toupee, the same thing.

That'd be right. They'll put it back at the start of the next one and go back to the Arnold sillyness.

Sorry, my mistake, been a long week
You mean, wasn't noticeable on VHS and less so DVD. With Blu-Ray, they are having to re-do the credits to give it a proper mention.

Unfortunately that wasn't the worst part of DAD...Aslong as they don't have that bullet that Die Another Day had I'll be happy it just seemed weird.

Right because a 25 second clip doesn't have a place in the beginning of the film...

"In this film there wasn’t really a place to put it at the beginning. I know that sounds kind of funny"
Right because a 25 second clip doesn't have a place in the beginning of the film...
Or because it'd look silly to have a gunbarrel and then follow that with the opening shot of the film.
It's essentially Mendes/Deakins fault for giving Bond a striking entrance as the first shot. Perhaps they should have gone gunbarrel, establishing shot, then Bond introduction.

Some spoilers in the following interview - http://www.heyuguys....bara-broccolli/ - but it also features Barbara Broccoli discussing the gunbarrel placement.
Won't read it now to avoid spoilers since I have 7 days to go, but it's very interesting to read about BB's justification the misplaced gunbarrel.

Can somebody please resurrect old Albert to give his daughter a big shout?

She also said it wouldn't necessarily be at the end for the next film, but that it wouldn't necessarily be at the beginning either.

So we'll get it at the middle maybe!
My friend Donovan from Chile went to the press premiere. He says the gunbarrel at the end was stupidly used but there is also some kind of "unofficial gunbarrel" at the beginning. Didn't want to know more.

Well, unless anybody around here has a direct line to 'eternity' and can come up with actual proof I suggest we do not assume her father's supposed afterlife reaction to Ms Broccoli's creative decisions. There is a reason she and her brother were trusted with the handling of affairs. If we don't agree with the way they deal with Bond films, fine, take it up to Eon. But we ought to leave out the dead of the issue, it's really nothing but an insolent and indeed mildly irritating custom.

Worked splendidly for me. Very pleased.
Each to their own. Only two things disappointed me about this film and this was one of them. It didn't work splendidly, it felt another "blink and you'll miss it moment" just like QOS.

I have been a Bond fan since I was born, 1964! Lived with 007 all my life. I'm said to say that I no longer can be a Bond fan! That excitement that you get when you see the Gunbarrel AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MOVIE, was what I lived for! Seeing it at the end, doesn't do a thing for me. You use all that anticipation, especially after four years of waiting! The producers have ruined all the 007 aspects, starting with Die Another Day. Its probably a great movie, but now its just a movie, its NOT A BOND MOVIE! I would also guess that neither James Bond Theme or 007 is not in this film. James Bond Theme probably at the end of it.
THIS SUCKS!!!
Not sure if I'd say "this sucks" nor that "I can't be a Bond fan anymore", but... yes, I agree with you in the 90% of things. I want the barrel back at the beginning, and, even when it's only 6 days to watch the movie in Argentina, I still think the barrel at the end is in "Skyfall", "Quantum of Solace" or any official James Bond movie.

I have gone from melancholy to frustration on this gunbarrel discussion. I would just as soon them end the whole sequence if it would end the whining.
LOL I highly doubt that because then you'd have not only the people who complain about it not being at the beginning, but then you'd have the people who don't care noticing and talking and possibly complaining about its absence, then reviewers on top of that would comment on it and then general movie-goers would notice its absence as well. For a franchise that's been around for 50 years, it's not like they could take one of the key iconic elements away and expect silence over it. lol
Anyways, most of these fan reactions are not sitting well with me. If it's still an ugly mess like with Quantum, they really should go back to the tried and true formula for the gunbarrel. Some changes work in a reboot, some changes don't. The gunbarrel at the start of the titles for Casino worked, the barrel at the end of Quantum wasn't necessary, especially if it STILL wasn't the full Bond we love and care about, so why'd they bother with the same gimmick twice? They clearly tossed the dice and came up 'meh' with these whole ending placement. It may work as a clever plot device but the whole "going out with a big bang" thing, especially with a movie like Quantum, felt awkward with such a quiet ending. If rumors are true about this film's ending then it seems a bit more appropriate, but even then, if it still looks like crap then it might be time to re-think their strategy about its placement but I'll keep an open mind until I see it with my own eyes.
