After viewing some songs on youtube (someone's uploaded the whole thing), and "She's Mine" blows me away. It has a Dark Knight/Bondian vibe and contains a Live and Let Die riff!

Here's the relevant post from SecretAgentFan:
And NO, people, you don´t invite anybody to pm anybody full tracks because that´s a fast way for us to get into serious trouble.
Please, piracy is not acceptable!

Yes, and we (CBN) won't put up with it. Even though a page or two back one of my colleagues already issued a warning, consider this the final one. No asking for the score in this thread. Period.

That's right. This is the way you gotta do

I'm hearing it now. Awesome, really! I love the "Skyfall" cue in "Komodo Dragon" and the 2sec JBT in "Brave new world"

Now then, after some thinking and some disuccsion, this is how it's going to work. If you are caught asking for the score in PM, offering the score in PM...you will recieve a two day ban. It's that simple. I didn't want it to come to this, but some of you are giving us no other alternative.

While I do not find the piracy issue as black & white, In this case I see it as a listen before buying. Had it been as bad as QoB I would not have bought it and erased it from my Ipod. Now I can listen to the album 8 days before its release which I will buy. (as I did with 23 previous 007 ost, counting the CR'67 as well)
I'm the same way about jewelry and car stereos.

The only reason I'm telling everyone this is to let people know that we are serious about this. If the wrong person were to read this thread and find out people are trading teh score illegally, this whole site could be shut down, and worse, you guys could be charged with a crime. I don't want that to happen, and I'm pretty certain you don't want that to happen.
Now, I've taken this thread off topic enough, I'm sure Shark is around to discuss the merits of the score while others will say it's crap

First off, this isn't your father's Bonds score, it's a pretty big shift from what we've been accustomed to hearing, and it's distinctly Thomas Newman. Newman is one of my favorite if not my absolute favorite composer. That said, I can't help but have mixed feelings about the score. None of the tracks are BAD like some of the atrocious pieces of Goldeneye's score, but a significant amount of them are pretty unmemorable. What's really frustrating about it is that it's very much in line with any run of the mill action score, but there are a few tracks that are so good that you can't help but think what could have been with a little bit of consistency in the score. For example New Digs, Tennyson, Enquiry, Komodo Dragon (my personal favorite, an instrumental version of the theme song), and Old Dog, New Tricks have a very Bondian but fresh distinct flavor while having Newmans fingerprints all over them. When you listen to it at almost feels as if he wrote it excited and full of fresh ideas, and then after a few tracks he ran out of steam and turned to a pretty generic sound. All in all it's pretty solid, with some moments of brilliance sprinkled around but not quite enough to make it a great score.
I'll give it a 3/5

Well I've got the full soundtrack now so I'll share my thoughts:

The next slow learner who does this will be banned until next Sunday. The offender won't be able to plead ignorance.

Not sure if you'll agree with me Shark, but this is how I feel towards another British composer: Murray Gold. I'll come right and say it: I freaking hate Murray Gold's music for Doctor Who. It is melodramatic and manipulative composing at its worst.Even during the Brosnan era, they got bogged down in melodrama (i.e. the Colonel/General Moon father/son bollocks in DAD) that this score avoids.

- Komodo Dragon
- She's Mine
- Tennyson
- Quartermaster
- Enquiry
- New Digs
I also really like portions of "Grand Bazaar, Istanbul" and "The Bloody Shot", but not necessarily the whole track.

I dare say this will compliment the action onscreen, to the extent that it will provide tense mood music. But if you're looking for distinctive motifs, propulsive or thrilling music to sweeten the action, then forget it. Track after track, this score serves only as sonic wallpaper.
I am absolutely astounded that for the 50th anniversary Sam Mendes has served up this sorry, half-hearted excuse for a Bond soundtrack. This is by far and away, and without a shadow of a doubt, the weakest Bond score ever.

I think some of us are excited by the soundtrack now as it's been 4 years since a new Bond soundtrack, and this is over an hour of fresh sound. Often what is new is exciting... however I wonder if we'll be playing this soundtrack over and over in the coming years like we have for some previous scores...
I can promise you I won't. I'd be surprised if anyone but the most diehard of Newman fans ever gives this soundtrack another spin. It's a hugely forgettable effort.
That videoblog on the recording of the soundtrack? There was a reason you only saw them at work on the Bond theme........

What utter bollocks. Talk about hyperbole.
