I think that the "ifly"-cue is much more Newman-style and lightyears more original. I really hope that that piece is the way they want to go with SKYFALL.

It's too timed to the game presentation to be lifted from the Skyfall score. Wouldn't you say?

It does seem rather obviously written for that sequence. I'd have a much easier time believing the iFly stuff was Newman. Frankly, I don't think we've heard anything from his score yet.

That sounds more Inception than Bond - once again - I call custom written midi cue... ;)

THAT is library music for sure, and the piece was edited to the music. Happens all the time and its actually exceptionally rare that something like this would have original music composed for it. There are tons and tons of music libraries dedicated to this trailer-like sound.

We havent heard anything from Newman yet...and when we do, it wont be heard in some offshoot ad campaign such as this.

Is the music featured on this website from Newman's forthcoming Skyfall score? It's certainly dramatic and Bondian.

Sounds more like Hans Zimmer and the infamous Remote Control Productions sound than anything to do with Bond.

Agreed. It will be when one of our friends and industry sources/professionals gets themselves a behind-the-scenes listen via their connections, and relays to us what they're hearing. Wink wink, nudge nudge. ;)

I guess that ;) is redundant if I've literally written 'wink' twice.

Been speaking with Tony Lewis via Twitter quite a lot. He's actually a very friendly guy, and probably frustrated he can't reveal more. I get the sense he's loving working on Skyfall and the film itself, bursting at the seams to tell us. I think this is as much as I'll be safely able to get out of him:

Toronto Truculent@TOTruculent
@MusicEditorcouk Encouraging. Wink once if it still has heart-racing action cues, Barry-esque ambience, and 007 theme-infused epic moments.

I love reading things like this...

Simon Thompson@ShowbizSimon
@MusicEditorcouk How goes it so far?

Tony Lewis@MusicEditorcouk
@ShowbizSimon v well. Looking/sounding glorious. Hard to get excited when you've seen a film hundreds of times but this is exception to rule.

Those twitter conversations crack me up lol. Nice work Matt.. at least we know the score most likely won't stray from the Barry sound too terribly much.

Side note... if anyone gets access to the score early, please give me a shout here or via my webpage. Chomping at the bit to hear it, and will.. of course.. buy the damn thing when it's released.

I emailed KLM last week and got a reply today saying they'd transferred me to the section chief of South America to the relevant department, so maybe we'll get a concrete "yes" or "no" later this week.

Very promising that Newman is likely sticking to the Barry sound. Bring on November! This could end up being one of the best Bond films of all. There's so much good going for it.

Arnold - the man, and the music - both was and is way cooler than many people give him credit for.

Here we go again. ;)

Let's do this, Shark. Once and for all. Not here, this thread is for Tom Newman. I'll go create a comically named thread in the Music forum for us to hash this out. (Spoiler: You're going to win). (Additional spoiler: It will be hilarious, and I'm not going to care). We need something to do for the rest of October.

(EDIT: Apparently you can't receive PM's? I'll trust you to find it, then).

Follow-up: Arnold just Tweeted at me. No Skyfall score at the classic FM recording session.

Wow. In the world of social media this is nothing. But in my hardcore Arnold-worship, Bond fan-infused-since-1997 life, that is the equivalent of one of you walking up to Pierce Brosnan and shaking his hand.

Does anyone have any ideas when the programme is going to be aired? Presumably closer to the film's release...
