I don't know how I feel about that. I have no objections to product placement, provided it is handled appropriately (ie, it is somewhere you would expect to find it; for example, when Bond traces Mollaka's text message in CASINO ROYALE, the Sony Ericsson logo appears above the screen ... which is would do on just about any phone). A magazine in M's flat sounds appropriate, but it's not a particularly large prop. Hopefully we don't get a god-awful DIE ANOTHER DAY retreat with the camera lingering over the brand names."A copy of the October issue, which features an image of Charles Dickens on the cover, is now set to appear as a prop in a scene set in M’s flat."

I'm sorry, to my eye, he looks like a 60-year-old man. That grey beard is nasty. But maybe all this will work in context, or look better on film than in these pics. I just hope this isn't some up their own "artist" decision to reinvent James Bond that just proves to be a big distraction.
I really think Skyfall is going to challenge tradition in a big way. I'm talking The Man From Barbarossa here. I'm going to need to go into this one with an ultra open mind. I don't know. Maybe I could get into this in the same way that I can (now) get into Barbarossa.
Hey zen, my goatee is grey. btw I like Craig's look for this movie.

The location intrigues me. The National Gallery? Anyone would care to elaborate on that? BTW, nice to see London featured in such a proeminent way.

I think it's intentional despite the cut of his suit looking sharp, Bond himself looks ragged and spent - I think SKYFALL will see a James Bond who is pushed to his physical and mental limits.Love the clothes. Hair too short. Beard?! He looks worn out. But hey, it´s...well...different.
The photos are taken on the steps of the National Gallery, adjacent to Trafalgar Square. However, there is no evidence of any cameras rolling. He could be filming something, or he could just be admiring the building in his downtime between takes. The location intrigues me. The National Gallery? Anyone would care to elaborate on that?

Reminds of a quote from Sir James Moloney in one of the novels refering to Bond as someone who as seen hell and lived through it. So we had the begining thing going on in CR, the debonair in QOS and now the spent, still sharp Bond look in SF? It´s a character arch not unlike the novels right?

No, I think Bond's less-than-manicured demeanour will be a direct result of the events of SKYFALL rather than his age. If Bond looks ragged and unkempt, it's because he's been up all night working. After all, we know that there will be some kind of attack on MI6 and/or London, and the photo of the clapperboard reveals that the scene takes place at night. I suspect Bond's unkempt look comes from being up all night.Reminds of a quote from Sir James Moloney in one of the novels refering to Bond as someone who as seen hell and lived through it. Personally, I hope you´re right Cap. And I also hope they´ll finally show us Bond´s Chelsea flat with the DB5 parked outside. Tanner waking him up (and his very sexy lady friend) only to drag him immediatly to that underground MI6 bunker, would be very cool to see.No, I think Bond's less-than-manicured demeanour will be a direct result of the events of SKYFALL. Also, Craig´s look remind me of his character Joe, in Confessions of a Fool.

I still reckon the scene will involve Bond racing M to the bunker. Being rousted from his flat would be good, but I think the actual scene will take place alte in the day, since the clapperboard shows the scene takes place at night.Personally, I hope you´re right Cap. I wonder why. All I can think of is Bond at the beginning of the novel You Only Live Twice. He's suffering from depression and not acting himself. Skipping work, seeing shrinks and hiring prostitutes. Who knows!

Yesterday they took some scenes featuring Bond on the steps of the National Gallery.
Here I found that a Charles Dickens portrait exhibition is taking place actually at the National Portrait Gallery.

What may be the connection between the two elements ? Could it be relevant to the plot?

None. It's most likely coincidence. Although there were photos of Craig on the steps of the National Gallery, there was no evidence that he was filming a scene at the time (there was no evidence that he was not, either). The article on Dickens in Literary Review is unrelated to the portrait display. So unless SKYFALL is actually THE DICKENS CODE, there's probably not going to be any cross-over.What may be the connection between the two elements ? Could it be relevant to the plot?
Also, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery are not the same building. They are adjacent to one another, but Craig was clearly on the steps of the National Gallery.

Impossible to say now why Bond has to have a beard.
I will wait for the film - but personally I wouldn´t mind if they did not stray too much from the formula...

That being said - how long have they been shooting? Two weeks? Assuming he's maintained some form of the beard the entire time, that's more than an incidental scene or two.

It's worth noting that Bond's "stubble" in these new pics is considerably less intense than the beard we saw in the previous ones. Suggests we're indeed dealing with something plot-specific.
Yeah, it has to be plot-specific because the alternative is simply ludicrous, what?, Bond has a beard just for the sake of it? To make this one a different one? A new style? Something distracting just...well, just because? That´s just preposterous. It will probably have to do with something plot-specific and I bet it will be awesome. Reminds me of Bond in the novels, when he had to cut his hair and dye his skin to go on a specific mission. The crew cuts and all. It also reminds of the all Sir James Moloney comments (which gave us a very nice perspective on Bond´s psychological traits) and the vices phase he had going on after Tracy´s assassination. So, who knows why the stubble? Personally, I think the fun is on again, the last time we had so much fun speculating was in 2005, when the first pics of Craig in CR showed up online. So, it´s all from me.
PS: A thought just occured to me. What if the beard is somewhat of a humouristic element. You know. Bond likes to have a close shave but no one gives him the oportunity to do so for a while.
After not being able to shave in London:
Villain - (...) And give him a clean shave. The least we can do for him is to let him die looking decent.
Bond - Thank God! Some people complained I didn´t look like myself and that, frankly, is a disturbing thought.
You know what? Scrap that That´s why Bond fans can´t write Bond official stuff.
