Maybe he's infected with the deadly "Skyfall virus" and the villain sends him on a search across London for the antidote. It's possible.

It's worth noting that Bond's "stubble" in these new pics is considerably less intense than the beard we saw in the previous ones. Suggests we're indeed dealing with something plot-specific.
Yeah, it has to be plot-specific because the alternative is simply ludicrous, what?, Bond has a beard just for the sake of it? To make this one a different one? A new style? Something distracting just...well, just because? That´s just preposterous. It will probably have to do with something plot-specific and I bet it will be awesome. Reminds me of Bond in the novels, when he had to cut his hair and dye his skin to go on a specific mission. The crew cuts and all. It also reminds of the all Sir James Moloney comments (which gave us a very nice perspective on Bond´s psychological traits) and the vices phase he had going on after Tracy´s assassination. So, who knows why the stubble? Personally, I think the fun is on again, the last time we had so much fun speculating was in 2005, when the first pics of Craig in CR showed up online. So, it´s all from me.
PS: A thought just occured to me. What if the beard is somewhat of a humouristic element. You know. Bond likes to have a close shave but no one gives him the oportunity to do so for a while.
After not being able to shave in London:
Villain - (...) And give him a clean shave. The least we can do for him is to let him die looking decent.
Bond - Thank God! Some people complained I didn´t look like myself and that, frankly, is a disturbing thought.
Alternatively halfway through the film he shaves with a lovely new Norelco/Phillishave which he holds up in his right hand to the camera, giving a thumbs up with his left hand but in such a way as his brand of watch is readily identifiable.

This is actually James Bond's evil twin created by Señor Risco in the Skyfall Duplicator.
Now we got a movie, gents!

This must be from the filming of the new gunbarrel.

Does he also just look kind of...sickly?

Skyfall = Biological Warfare? That's actually an interesting thought. Skyfall would be an appropriate name for a biological agent.

The Noel Gallagher stuff is a little disturbing. He described his song 'Freaky Teeth' as being like the next Bond song, and it isn't.

I think you'll find the intention is that the thread is official, not the photos. It's to stop people from creating a new thread every time a new photo or set of photos emerges. These don't appear to be OFFICIAL shots, so I'm not sure what they're doing in the OFFICIAL thread. Take me to the unofficial thread, please.

Shooting off on a tangent, could the by-line about Skyfall having something to do with M's past catching up to her have something to do with Dryden.... and his "contact".... ?
(.... just enjoying the euphoria that is "while it's being made.")

That's already been posted.I don't know how to insert a picture here, but if you search "Skyfall, first official image" you will see a scene clacker indicating Scene 45, Take 1, Day 1. Behind it, you will also see that it is a bathroom/toilet/loo scene, somewhat reminiscent of Bond's first kill in Casino Royale.
I don't think so. Dryden was a corrupt agent, and Bond killed him because of it. If Bond was used by M to cover up her own background, that makes Bond guilty by association - and Bond has to be above suspicion.Shooting off on a tangent, could the by-line about Skyfall having something to do with M's past catching up to her have something to do with Dryden.... and his "contact".... ?

Bond is always above suspicion? Really? What about him being held prisoner by the Red Chineese and being traded in Die Another Day? M suspected him big-time of leaking information. Didn't she.

Considering what's been speculated above, even about Dryden perhaps, could these shots be Bond leaving a court trial?

You've got to look back further than that. It was first posted on page 7.Already posted? Really? In this thread? Where? I saw on page 12 a scene clacker with Scene 53G, but I didn't see one with Scene 45, and the loo background.
But in that instance, he was able to demonstrate his innocence. M suspected him, but there was no solid evidence of any actual wrong-doing - just circumstantial. But if M sent Bond to kill Dryden to cover up her own crime, Bond is still complicit, even if he was unaware of M's true intentions ... especially since he had to commit murder. Having Double-Oh status might grant Bond a licence to kill, but in order to earn that licence, he has to kill two people in cold blood. If Dryden's death was part of a plan by M to cover up her past, Bond could be prosecuted as an accessory since he would no longer have the protection afforded by MI6.Bond is always above suspicion? Really? What about him being held prisoner by the Red Chineese and being traded in Die Another Day? M suspected him big-time of leaking information. Didn't she.
Also, Bond wasn't held prisoner by the "Red Chinese" in DIE ANOTHER DAY. He was held prisoner by the North Koreans, a completely different group of people unrelated to China.

As for the other thing, I'm just tossing out a possible idea why the loo scene was so familiar. Could Dryden and his "contact" be a possible backstory to the Skyfall plot in some way. Not necessarily a cover-up by M.
My apologies on the Red Chineese tag. I stand.... corrected. Thanks.

1) Making a big deal of it being shaved off - the cheesy "we've got our Bond back" nonsense, like with the dinner jacket in Casino Royale. I'm pretty sure there's no issue here.
2) Excessive shaving product placement. Unfortunately this is highly likely. Does Sony have a shaver range out, or will they stick with Philips?
Overall it looks like Bond is going through a rough time - and I'm liking the look and vibe of that.
