I hadn't heard anything about Aronofsky not wanting to film in Japan. From what I've read, it was more due to the anticipated length of the shoot. Anyway, I was also going to propose him as the director of "YOLT", and I think we should definitely keep him in mind.

Anyway...

The gunbarrel sequence opens in a small cemetery. The background vista reveals the familiar cityscape of Venice, Italy. A man seen from the waist down approaches an unremarkable gravestone. He bends over and brushes some overgrown grass out of the way, revealing the name etched on the stone: "Lynd, Vesper"

The man bends down and places a seashell on the stone; we see that it is JAMES BOND. He glances wistfully at the city behind him for a moment, and leaves the cemetery. Crossing the road towards his parked Aston Martin, Bond almost has to dive out of the way as a red Ferrari Four comes out of nowhere, swerving all over the road. Bond catches a glimpse of a striking woman at the wheel, a determined look on her face.

About to yell an obscenity, Bond is distracted by a second car zooming past him, this one containing two thuggish-looking men. Puzzled and intrigued by this encounter, Bond gets into the Aston and follows. Bond catches up with the men and pulls up alongside, where he now sees the passenger loading a pistol. That's all Bond needs to know; as they approach a bend, Bond pulls a PIT maneuver and sends the other car hurtling into a ditch. He continues onward, stopping as he catches sight of the Ferrari parked at a deserted beach.

Bond gets out and sees the woman running towards the sea. He drops his jacket and gun, and runs after her as she wades into the surf, completely disappearing into the water. Frantically, Bond runs into the crashing waves, struggling as he drags her out and back on to the beach.

The woman is unconscious. This moment striking a grim chord with Bond, he administers CPR, getting more and more desperate until suddenly the woman coughs, sitting up and spitting out water.

BOND: "Are you alright? You could have killed yourself!"
TRACY: "I would have, if you hadn't interfered."
BOND: "You're welcome!"

Before she can respond, a gun is shoved into Bond's face. The two men from the car are standing over them. One man grabs Tracy and hauls her away as the second man tells Bond to get up. Bond grabs a handful of sand as he gets to his feet. The goon raises his gun to Bond's head, and Bond immediately hurls the sand in his face. Bond rushes in and knocks the gun from the man's hand. The two men grapple, rolling into the waves. The man swings a piece of driftwood; Bond catches it, and headbutts the goon, dropping him with a hook to the jaw.

Bond runs after the other man, who drops Tracy and surprises Bond with a flurry of krav maga moves. The ensuing fight is brutal; with Bond momentarily stunned, the man grabs a huge rock and raises it to crush Bond with it. Bond springs up, and with the man's two hands occupied, punches him in the throat. The man collapses, clutching his windpipe. "Don't try to yodel", remarks Bond.

As he brushes himself off, Bond hears the roar of the Ferrari's engine. The woman vanishes around a corner without a trace. Bond watches as she leaves, puzzled as to what exactly just happened.

He says to nobody in particular: "This all seems very familiar".

The film proper begins in:

MALTA - Bond is driving his Aston Martin Virage through the streets of Valletta. He's on speaker/videophone with Moneypenny.

MP: "Reconfirmed, a red Ferrari with the license number BMT 216A passed through customs at Valletta this morning. No further information available at this time."
BOND: "It's not a big island, I'll find it."
MP: "M wants to know, is this really anything to do with Operation Bedlam? We used two satellites and called in all kinds of favors to get this for you."
BOND: "It's a lead I'm pursuing."
MP: "Couldn't help notice that the driver happens to be an attractive woman, James."
BOND: "Ah...you're breaking up, Moneypenny. I'll have to call you back."

Moneypenny is seen rolling her eyes as Bond switches off the videophone.

Later, Bond cruises into the parking lot of the Dragonara Palace Casino. He pulls up right next to the familiar looking red Ferrari and enters.

Strolling into the casino, Bond looks around but doesn't spot his quarry. He takes a seat at a poker table.

Later still, a crowd has gathered around Bond, who has now amassed a sizable pile of chips. A player gets up from the table as Bond wins another hand. Immediately, the woman from the PTS sits down opposite him. Bond smiles at her but she remains impassive.

The hand progresses; everyone backs out but Bond and the woman. As the final card is flipped over, the woman goes all in and pushes her stack of chips onto the table. Bond quickly matches and goes all in too. They show their cards and Bond has a full house versus her two pair. The woman scowls and gets up, Bond quickly following her. He grabs her arm as she's about to leave the casino.

BOND: "It was a good hand, you were just unlucky. And I'm still waiting for a thank you."
TRACY: "You may be waiting for quite some time. Are you following me?"
BOND: "Yes, Contessa Teresa, I most certainly am."
TRACY: "Please don't."
BOND: "So have a drink with me, and I'll stop."

She reluctantly agrees; Bond orders two 'Vespers'. Tracy likes it, much to Bond's surprise. After some flirtatious dialogue, she gets up and leaves, throwing Bond a room keycard. "That thank you you're waiting for? Room 602 tonight. I hope you'll be worth it." She walks out, leaving Bond with a bemused expression on his face.

Later, Bond goes to Tracy's room and is attacked by one of the beach henchmen, a large man of African descent named Che-Che. A signature Craig brutal fight scene breaks out, smashing up the room and ending with Bond breaking a champagne bottle on his head. Bond quips "Can't handle your drink?"

Bond returns to his room, this time aware someone is waiting for him. He grabs someone, throwing them onto the bed, gun drawn. It's Tracy. Bond is quickly on the bed with her...

The next morning, Bond wakes up alone. On the balcony, he sees the Ferrari gone. He checks out and heads for his Aston, when another car pulls up alongside him, full of goons. They take Bond's gun and usher him into their car. On a main road heading across the island, the car pulls up behind a large 18 wheeler type truck. Its ramp opens and drops onto the road, the car driving straight into it, the ramp closing behind them.

Getting out, Bond finds the truck interior has been designed as a luxurious office. Marc-Ange Draco sits at a desk, welcoming Bond. He introduces himself as Tracy's father, telling Bond she has been suicidal ever since the death of her husband, and he had sent his men after her to protect, not hurt her. He thinks Bond will be a good influence on Tracy and wants him to continue the relationship; Bond is the kind of man who can 'set her straight' again. Bond knows Draco is a gangster with connections, and he agrees on the condition that Draco uses his influence to locate Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Draco reluctantly agrees, telling Bond to meet him in a week; it'll be his birthday and Tracy always attends.

LONDON - Bond arrives at MI6 and M presents him with a new assignment. Bond protests, saying he has a fresh lead on Blofeld, but M rejects it, saying Operation Bedlam is dead. Frustrated, Bond types out a letter of resignation and hands it to Moneypenny.

As he clears out his desk in his office, he throws away an old invitation for a 'Greene Planet' function and a couple of poker chips with a 'CR' logo on them. His desktop PC beeps and he checks his email, from M titled : "Request Granted". He shuts it down and walks out of his office.

In the corridor, he passes Moneypenny. He says goodbye and wishes her luck. Puzzled, she asks what he means. "Did you actually read her message?" she asks. Bond checks his cell phone and reads the content of the e-mail, revealing M has granted Bond's request for two weeks leave. Moneypenny tells him she changed Bond's request for him.

SICILY - Bond arrives at Draco's estate, where a large party is being held. He is shown in and joins Draco and Tracy. In much the same way as the original, Tracy tells Draco to tell Bond what he wants so they can get rid of him. Draco informs Bond that Blofeld has apparently been in contact with Gumbold, a lawyer in Geneva. Bond chases after Tracy and...romance ensues with a montage etc., including a playful waterski chase.

GENEVA - Nighttime. Gumbold closes his office for the evening and leaves. Across the street, Bond and CAMPBELL, a junior agent, are watching through night vision glasses. They cross to Gumbold's building using a rope line, climbing onto the roof. They break in and descend to Gumbold's floor. Bond switches his night vision goggles to infrared and detects laser tripwires. Nimbly stepping over them, they make it to Gumbold's office and...an alarm goes off.

CAMPBELL: "Pressure sensitive floor. That wasn't in the blueprints!"
BOND: "Good. It means this Gumbold has got something worth protecting."

The two agents duck into a large room filled with server racks. They leave the door open as five security guards, all with guns drawn, follow them into the maze-like room. They split up, Bond quickly and quietly taking down two of the guards. Campbell takes another down, and gets into a struggle with another. The last guard aims his gun, as Bond drops from one of the server towers, kicking his gun away and putting him in a sleeper hold. They go back to Gumbold's office and Campbell hacks into his computer, copying files onto a USB drive.

LONDON - M's apartment. We're in the middle of a PARTY! M and her husband entertain guests, all in formal wear. As M listens to an anecdote, she and we hear a familiar voice..."also with a thin slice of lemon peel". M turns to see Bond at the bar, dressed in a tuxedo, ordering a drink. She approaches him angrily.

M: "I don't recall adding your name to the guest list, Bond."
BOND: "I took the liberty of inviting myself, ma'am."
M: "How did...? Oh, Moneypenny."
BOND: "Don't blame her. I came here tonight because this couldn't wait - I've found him." Wearily, M ushers Bond into her study.

Bond plugs the USB drive into a large flatscreen on the wall. He shows her Gumbold's e-mails from a "Comte Balthazar de Bleuville". Bond claims it is Blofeld, using Gumbold as a mediator seeking recognition for his title via the London College of Arms. M tells Bond to inquire at the College in the morning. "Now stop taking advantage of the free bar and get out of here!" Bond drains his drink and leaves.

LONDON - THE COLLEGE OF ARMS - Bond arrives at the College under the guise of investigating his own heritage. Inside, he is introduced to the eccentric Sir Hillary Bray. With his assistant, Phidian, Bray shows Bond his family's coat of arms, bearing the inscription 'The World is Not Enough'. Bray ushers Phidian outside and tells Bond that Blofeld has asked him to come to his residence at Piz Gloria in St.Moritz in person to verify his documents.

Bond suggests that he goes in Sir Hillary's place, and Hilly agrees. As they talk, Bond hears a creaking noise outside the door. He motions for Hilly to keep talking as he sneaks over to the door. He yanks it open to find Phidian standing outside, holding up a cellphone to record their conversation. Phidian quickly topples a suit of armor onto Bond. Bond shoves it out of the way but Phidian has bought himself a few seconds, he runs for the stairs.

Bond gives chase as Phidian runs onto the roof. (We see everywhere around is decorated for Christmas). From there, he leaps on to the health club next door. Phidian eventually slides down a ladder and runs to St. Paul's Cathedral. He bursts inside and sprints to the exit on the other side, interrupting a service. Bond follows right behind him. Phidian bumps into a priest, who slips and almost drops a bottle of wine, but Bond catches it, handing it back to him saying "Not while I'm on the job, thanks Father."

The pursuit leads out onto Tower Bridge. Phidian crosses it just as the drawbridge is starting to raise. Bond sprints up the rising drawbridge and sails through the air, just catching the other side. It immediately starts to descend again, Bond in danger of being crushed as the two halves of the bridge meet, but he manages to pull himself up just in the nick of time and slides down the other side, immediately picking up the chase again.

The chase turns on to...where else...Bond Street. Phidian shoves his way through the throng of Christmas shoppers, into a tube station entrance. He and Bond run down the escalators, onto a platform. A train is approaching; Phidian attempts to cross the tracks to the other side, but he trips and the train slams straight into him. Bond takes Phidian's phone from him as the man lays dying, and quips "Mind the gap". He leaves as a crowd gathers.

MI6

M and Bond are in a briefing room, analyzing the cell phone. They discover that 'Phidian' had only been at the College for a couple of months, and his fingerprints from the phone reveal him to be on an old watch list of possible QUANTUM associates. "Definitely one of Blofeld's", remarks Bond.

Tanner enters and informs them he's arranged with the police to declare the death to be an accident. M agrees to send Bond to Piz Gloria; they look up a website advertising the place as an "allergy clinic seeking volunteers for an experimental treatment, females only".

"Females only? Definitely worth a look, then.", notes Bond. M rolls her eyes and tells him to go and find out what Blofeld is up to.

ST. MORITZ, SWITZERLAND

Bond steps off a plane in an old-fashioned tweed suit, and is immediately met by two grim-looking men, Yaroslav (Til Schweiger), and Horak (August Diehl). They lead him to a limousine-like customized sno-cat. They pass by a group of people waiting at arrivals, one of whom is Campbell, watching Bond. He gets in his own car and follows the sno-cat. They drive to the other side of the airport to the helipad, thoroughly frisking Bond and going through his luggage before allowing him to get on board, as Campbell watches from a distance. They take off and fly to the top of Piz Gloria.

PIZ GLORIA - Bond is shown to his luxurious room; he sweeps it for bugs and finds a ton of them. Not wanting to arouse suspicion, he leaves them all in place. He also discovers he is locked in, there is no cell phone reception, and and must call for help if he wants to leave the room. He pretends to have a smoking habit so he will be allowed outside; Yaroslav insists on accompanying him everywhere. Knowing he can't look around, he throws away the cigarette in disgust and goes back in.

Later, Bond is summoned to dinner and is delighted to meet TWELVE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN from all around the world joining him at the table. Yaroslav and Horak sit at each end of the table, shutting the conversation down as Bond tries to ask the women about what they're doing here and their allergies, etc. He engages in flirtatious banter with one of the women sitting opposite him, who introduces herself as simply Irma, from the Ukraine.

During dinner, Irma unsubtly spills salt on Bond's lap. She leans in to clean it up, while passing him a note. Bond quickly pockets it just as Yaroslav informs him that the Count is ready to meet with him.

Yaroslav leads Bond to a retina-scan locked elevator that descends into what seems like hundreds of feet below into the mountain. They pass through a laboratory area with security cameras on every corner, and lab workers dressed all in white with face masks, before arriving into an opulent office. Bond sits and waits as a man emerges through an airlock on the other side. It's a somewhat different-looking Blofeld; his now silver hair is swept back into a ponytail, he has no earlobes, and some other subtle work has been done on his nose and chin. He is almost unrecognizable, but Bond sees through it.

BLOFELD: "Sir Hillary Bray, I presume. Allow me to introduce myself - Balthazar, Comte de Bleuville."
BOND: "Well let's not jump the gun on that."
BLOFELD: "I don't make spurious claims, Sir Hillary! And by the way, I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss."
BOND: "Loss?"
BLOFELD: "Yes, your assistant, Phidian, I believe?"
BOND: "Oh, yes. Seems the poor fellow was hit by a train. Can't be too careful these days."

Blofeld shows him all his deeds and documents, and Bond says he will need a couple of days to study them. He attempts to ask about what's going on at this clinic, but Blofeld brushes him off.

BLOFELD: "You'll forgive me if I don't divulge too much information on that front, Sir Hillary. It seems that spies are everywhere these days.
Bond - What a world we live in!"

Blofeld then receives a call, he is due back at the laboratory. He shows Bond back to the elevator. As they wait :

BLOFELD: "I must admit, Sir Hillary, you are not exactly what I was expecting. I had pictured you as a little more...professorial."

The elevator arrives and Bond steps in. As the doors close :

BOND: "Count, I think I can say that you are exactly what I was expecting."

Bond arrives back at the room. He opens the note from Irma and finds she has written instructions for bypassing the security lock on the door, and she's given him her room number, eight.

Bond is back in his room, and uses some kind of gadget/program/app on his cell phone to bypass the lock on his door by using the correct radio frequency. He listens for patrolling guards and sneaks out when the coast is clear. He slips into room 8, undetected, to find Irma waiting for him. He asks her what's going on, and she gives him some vague answers about allergies, the twelve girls here are all being cured. Then Bond does what he does best whenever he's in a bedroom with a woman...

...Afterwards, Bond gets back to his room, and into the air vent system. He makes his way down to the lab area and watches Blofeld at work. He overhears a conversation about how it is time for the girls to get their nightly medication. "All eleven of them", says Blofeld, as he is working on something off-camera. We can only see the edges of it, it appears to be a holographic projection of the globe, with several cities highlighted. Bond notices that Sydney, Australia is one of them just as Blofeld switches it off.

When the coast is clear, Bond emerges from the vent but is unable to get the projector to work again. He rifles through some patient files, containing no names or faces, just numbers 1-11. Bond hears someone coming, and quickly ducks back into the vent, going back to his room.

The next morning, Bond goes outside for his cigarette break, accompanied again by Yaroslav, as the twelve girls play a game of curling. Bond spots Campbell hiding amongst the rocks below, Yaroslav is oblivious. Bond coughs and scratches his lapel; Campbell nods and begins to move away. Irma winks at Bond, who smiles back politely. Yaroslav is distracted by a phone call, and Bond takes the opportunity to ask Irma about the girls. He asks if one of them has been cured or has left the clinic, but she shrugs and says no, all twelve are still in the program.

Later, after lying about retiring about his room to do more research, Bond goes down to the lab again, he snoops around and examines some of the drugs that are being manufactured. He is about to leave when Horak interrupts him; the two men fight, crashing into glass equipment and generally destroying the lab. Bond jams a shard of glass into the man's abdomen to finish him off. Knowing this is the end of his cover, he heads back to his room and grabs his outdoor clothes.

Before Bond leaves, he has to make sure Campbell doesn't blow his cover, so he assaults the guard at the front desk, steals his uniform, and thus learns that the SPECTRE goons are due to "interrogate" Campbell in ten minutes. Being a good approximation to the murdered guard's appearance, he easily slips into the holding area where Campbell is; he's unconscious.

Bond frantically searches Campbell's person for something, then finds it; under a button in his coat sleeve lies a small, white poison capsule. Carefully, so as not to rouse him, Bond opens Campbell's mouth, slips the pill in, and clamps his jaws shut. Campbell's eyes flutter open for a moment, widen at the sight of Bond, but then dullen as the poison takes effect; Bond is clearly uneased by this, but he's knows Campbell would have done the same, had he been in Bond's situation. Bond closes Campbell's eyes, lays his head down gently, and slips out of the room.

Coming to the end of the hall, Bond looks around him and sees someone coming; he ducks behind a corner and waits. It's Irma, swinging a key card (could be something else) on a chain. Bond grabs her from behind and covers her mouth: "What are you doing out here?" he hisses. In response, Irma bites his hand, forcing him to let her go; by the time he's recovered, Irma's trained a gun on him and blown a whistle, alerting the rest of the Piz Gloria staff to the attempted escape. They grab Bond under the armpits, and out walks the Comte de Bleauchamp, smiling at Bond, and turning his gaze to Irma: "Well done, my pet." She looks lustfully at him, then turns to Bond, a cold smile playing across her lips. Bond responds:

BOND: "Bitch."

Irma looks ready to lash out, but Blofeld holds her back, instead nodding to his guards, who knock Bond unconscious.

Bond wakes to find himself outside, at the back of Piz Gloria. Yaroslav and several other goons have their guns trained on him. "Merry Christmas, 007!" says Blofeld, noticing Bond is awake, as he finishes tying a string of lights onto a huge tree. Irma emerges from the other side of the tree and kisses Blofeld right in front of Bond, who looks at them in disgust.

BLOFELD: "So you noticed we only had files on eleven girls; Irma here was keeping an eye on them for me. It's one of her many talents!"

Blofeld then hands Bond a switch, asking him to do the honors in switching on the tree lights. Bond, thinking this is a little weird, presses the switch and the tree lights up - revealing Campbell's corpse perched on the top as the 'angel' on the tree!

Blofeld sees Bond's anger--"Oh come on, Mr. Bond, where's your Christmas spirit? We've got much to celebrate. My girls are almost ready, and the world is about to recognize me as a Count!"

BOND: "Remove the letter 'o' from that word and you're a lot closer to the truth."

Bond presses Blofeld for more information. Loving the chance to rub Bond's nose in it, Blofeld reveals his master plan - the 'allergy cure' is a smokescreen for brainwashing; using drugs and hypnotherapy, he has turned the eleven girls into suicide bombers, who are to detonate at major cities around the world at midnight on New Year's Eve if his demands are not met. Blofeld wants a full pardon, recognition of his title, and all his assets and bank accounts unfrozen. Bond laughs and says it will never happen; Blofeld merely shrugs and says if it doesn't, he'll just move somewhere else, and train more girls. He orders Yaroslav to lock Bond up.

They lead Bond down through the labs into an icy hollowed out cave. Blofeld remarks "If you survive in here, you'll be useful as an independent witness when I contact the UN. See you in a few days." They lock a huge iron door, sealing Bond in.

Bond pokes around the cave. He can see some dim moonlight coming in through the roof. He climbs up the ice wall, hacking out handholds with a rock, until he gets to the top. He kicks out against the ice, slowly breaking it.

Later (an establishing shot shows its been a few hours), Bond, now freezing with blue lips, finally kicks a hole through the ice. He climbs out and finds himself back near the Christmas tree. Seeing one of the guards who locked him up, half asleep, Bond takes a string of lights from the tree and throttles the guard with it, quipping "No charge for the gift wrap."

Bond sneaks into the garage where he finds snowmobiles, ATVs, and the like. Knowing starting an engine would attract attention, he grabs a pair of skis and pushes off downhill. Almost immediately, he passes a motion detector and the whole place lights up, alarms blazing!

Gunfire blasts all around as Bond zooms down the slopes. Blofeld and Irma Bunt ride snowmobiles while other goons chase on skis. A sitting duck on the ski slope, Bond veers into the wooded area, and expertly makes his way through the rocky ground, dodging trees. One goon slips and hits a tree. "Idiot!" mutters Blofeld.

Bond emerges through the trees to find himself on a cliff edge facing a sheer drop. He ducks out of sight as the goons split up, searching for him. As one of the guards moves over to where we saw Bond just seconds ago...he steps on some uneven ground, and gets the surprise of a lifetime. He's standing on Bond, who buried himself in the snow! Bond grabs his leg and flips him over. The two men grapple on the slippery cliff edge, sliding towards the abyss...Bond clutches a tree branch as the other man grabs onto his leg, screaming for help. "Get a grip" remarks Bond before kicking him over the edge. Bond pulls himself up and sneaks out of the woods as the rest of the guards search for him. He heads for the lights of the town below...

ST. MORITZ - Bond removes his skis as he arrives on the outskirts of the village. He looks around for a phone booth, and spots one...but one of Blofeld's goons is standing guard by it. Looking around even more, he spots Blofeld and Bunt ordering their men to search the village for Bond. Blofeld pulls out a large electronic device and we hear him say he's activated the cell phone jammer.

Bond joins an excited group of people heading through the village, and passes by the guards unnoticed. Yaroslav eyes the group suspiciously and follows, Bond trying to keep his head down. The people arrive at a grandstand set up for the White Turf skijoring festival; the main race of the event is about to begin. Bond takes a seat in the stands as Yaroslav and other goons fan out, looking for him and blocking the exits.

As the race starts, Yaroslav yells - he's spotted Bond. Bond jumps up and onto the skijoring course. Yaroslav is right behind him; he fires his gun at Bond, missing. The crowd panics and several of the horses rear up, causing chaos in the race. Confused horses and riders are running in all directions as Bond makes his way across the icy track. One goon gets trampled by a horse; Blofeld watches this from the stand and laughs. Seizing an opportunity, Bond grabs a passing horse and unhooks the rider/sleigh, and rides off across the track. He crosses the finish line and a buzzer goes off; a confused official holds up a trophy but Bond ignores him and keeps riding, doubling back into the town.

Arriving at a town square, he ties the horse to a lamppost and walks away. As he looks around for a vehicle to use, he becomes aware of someone following him in the dim light. Bond ducks into an alleyway as the stranger approaches. Looking around, he picks up a broken bottle and holds it up, ready to strike. The figure steps out right in front of him as Bond jumps out - it's Tracy!

BOND: "What the bloody hell are you doing here?"
TRACY: "Wonderful as always to see you, darling."

Tracy shows Bond to her Ferrari and Bond tells her they have to leave town. Bond tries her cell phone but signals are still blocked. As they head for the main road, they pause for a man crossing the street. He stops and stares at them for a second - it's Blofeld! Bond presses hard on Tracy's foot on the pedal and Blofeld dives to safety, ending up in a heap of snow.

In the rear view, Bond sees Blofeld calling for his goons.

BOND: "Remember when you were in Venice, you were driving like a maniac and didn't care who or what got in your way?"
TRACY: "Vaguely. Why?"
BOND: "I need you to do that again."

Tracy slams on the gas and the Ferrari speeds out of town. She explains that Draco had told her where Bond would be as it starts snowing heavily outside. Bond is quickly aware that another vehicle is chasing them. Coming to a detour, he quickly gets out and sees a sign warning of a bridge collapse. Bond removes the sign and tells Tracy to kill the lights. The second car arrives, with Yaroslav and another goon brandishing guns - they take the other road and Bond hears brakes screeching and sees a fireball bloom up into the sky.

He moves in closer and sees the car on fire at the bottom of a ravine below. A noise distracts him - Yaroslav, holding on to the edge; he grabs Bond and tries to pull him over. Bond struggles with him, finally freeing himself from the other man's grasp. Bond remarks, "You know, I forgot to give you your Christmas present." Bond punches him, sending him over the edge, crashing into the wrecked car below. Tracy appears next to Bond.

TRACY: "What's going on?"
BOND: "Just some chestnuts roasting on an open fire."

They get back in the Ferrari and leave.

GENEVA AIRPORT - Bond and Tracy are in the mostly empty departure lounge late at night. As the clock strikes twelve, the few employees still there pass out some champagne; it's Christmas Day. Bond proposes marriage to Tracy, in a wonderfully written scene. She accepts!

Bond gives Tracy a heartfelt monologue about Vesper and how he never thought he'd find anyone else after her. As they prepare to board, a security guard informs them there's been a bomb threat and they are evacuating the terminal. As passengers from other canceled flights fill the area, Bond and Tracy move with the crowd. Security and firemen are running everywhere. Several guards close in around Bond, and draw their weapons. They tell him they received an anonymous tip of a man matching Bond's description was a terrorist. Bond protests, telling them he's MI6 and to call London, and they tell him they'll look into it, but must detain him temporarily.

Meanwhile, Tracy waits at a cafe. A female security officer, hat obscuring her face, approaches her and tells her James Bond has been released, and she can come and meet him downstairs. She leads her to a parking lot, where a limo opens up revealing Blofeld inside. Tracy panics and tries to flee, but the guard, whom we now see is Irma Bunt, has her at gunpoint. They bundle Tracy into the car and leave.

Bond is released and looks for Tracy. Now that they know he is MI6, they allow him to access security footage. He finds one camera that shows Tracy being abducted.

MI6 - M, Tanner, and Bond, all grim-faced, are watching a news report. Blofeld is on-screen issuing his demands, for recognition of his title, a pardon for all crimes, and the unfreezing of his assets seized in MI6's QUANTUM clean-up. If they are not met, he has trained eleven girls to detonate suicide bombs at midnight on New Year's Eve in major cities around the globe. He warns if there is any attempt to intervene, he will order the girls to detonate immediately. Clearly addressing Bond specifically, he says "We would not want harm to come to anyone at Piz Gloria"; the camera tilts to show Tracy, furious, sitting next to him.

M switches off the broadcast. She tells Bond the PM has agreed to Blofeld's demands. Bond protests, proposing a full-on attack of Piz Gloria. M dismisses it as too risky. Bond storms out, outraged.

SICILY - Bond pulls up at Draco's estate. Draco is waiting for him outside the huge garage. Bond informs him about Tracy and Blofeld, and Draco asks what he wants to do. "We'll need something to get us up to Piz Gloria. Any ideas?"

DRACO: "I once knew an Italian military contractor. He didn't have the money for his gambling debts, but he did pay me in another form..."

Draco presses a button to open the garage, revealing a cavernous warehouse full of all kinds of attack vehicles - Hummers, ATVs, snowmobiles, helicopters, everything and anything needed for a small war. Bond's jaw almost hits the floor.

BOND: "I think I'm going to enjoy being your son-in-law."

PIZ GLORIA - Sunrise, December 30th. Blofeld is drinking champagne while on a videoconference with a group of concerned looking officials. They are agreeing to unfreeze his bank accounts; Blofeld ends the call and offers Tracy champagne. She refuses and storms out. Bunt asks if they still need to keep her around; Blofeld says she can kill her as soon as he receives word his demands have been met.

"Why can't I just do it now?", she asks. "It's not like anybody's going to..." she trails off, staring out the window. Blofeld turns to see a fleet of helicopters approaching and sounds an alarm. Guards take positions on gun turrets, ready to fire when the choppers are in range, when...explosions rock the rear of the compound. Blofeld looks around to see another fleet of vehicles approaching from the other side - armored snowmobiles, ATVs, sno-cats mounted with rockets, and Bond himself leading the charge in one of these.

A huge battle ensues, with Piz Gloria being torn apart by gunfire; Draco and his men storm the facility, with Bond joining in.

Inside, Tracy locks herself in her room; Bunt smashes the door in and Tracy whacks her on the head with a vase; it's fightin' time!

Bond checks around for Blofeld but he is nowhere to be found; he looks in the labs, and stops to check Blofeld's globe hologram. He switches it on and sees 11 cities light up, marked with photos and names of the girls; Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Berlin, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, and Cairo.

He uploads the intel to his cell phone and transmits it to MI6; we see Tanner on the other end receiving the data; the department is in chaos as he, M, Moneypenny etc. contact agencies all over the world.

Tracy and Bunt continue to fight as the room is rocked by an explosion, blowing a hole in the wall; outside we see the entire place starting to tip over; both women are thrown to the ground.

Bond grabs one of the goons and asks where Tracy is; he tells him she went to her room; Bond pistol whips him and runs to her room.

Bunt struggles to get to her feet as Tracy charges into her, knocking her out of the room and sending her over the edge towards burning wreckage below.

Bond throws the door open.

BOND: "Are you alright, what happened here?"
TRACY: "The bitch is dead."

Bond does a double take; he escorts her back to Draco, who loads her onto one of the helicopters. Bond goes inside to set charges to destroy the place. Going back to the labs, he sees Blofeld stuffing money into a bag. Blofeld shoots at him and runs; Bond pursues him to a bobsleigh run; Blofeld jumps into the only bobsled and tears off down the track as Piz Gloria blows up behind them.

Bond runs back to his Lotus vehicle and gets in, rocketing down the mountain after Blofeld as Piz Gloria goes up in flames behind him. Bond speeds ahead of Blofeld on the track, gets out, and jumps onto the bobsled. The two men fight as they hurtle down the track; Blofeld pulls out a grenade and laughs wildly as he pulls out the pin and simply holds onto the grenade. Bond jumps off, tumbling into a snowdrift as the bobsled sails out of sight. An explosion is heard, and Bond runs to try and catch up. Arriving at the end of the track, he sees the burning bobsled comes to a halt; no sign of Blofeld anywhere.

A montage follows of the Angels of Death being captured and taken into custody all over the world. M assures Bond that they will all be deprogrammed and go back to their normal lives.

LONDON - Some time later, Bond and Tracy are out shopping for an engagement ring. They spot one in a shop window and go inside. Reflected in the glass, we see a figure wearing a hoodie watching them across the street. She removes her hood and walks away; we see it is Irma Bunt, apparently unharmed, but as she turns a corner we see the left side of her face is covered in disfiguring burn scars.

SICILY

"I now pronounce you husband and wife".

Bond and Tracy are married in a ceremony at Draco's estate, attended by M, Moneypenny, Tanner, and Felix Leiter, who serves as the best man. Felix gives Bond some fishing lures for his honeymoon; Draco offers Bond a million pounds but he refuses. He takes M aside and hands her a resignation letter. Tracy throws a bouquet and Moneypenny catches it, while giving Tanner an...interesting glance.

Bond and Tracy drive away in her Ferrari.

Later, on a coastal road outside of Sciacca, Bond and Tracy continue a leisurely drive; they drift over to allow an approaching Maserati to pass; as the car passes Bond has only a split second to react to the ghastly visage of the burnt Bunt at the wheel, and Blofeld, broken arm, cuts and bruises all over his face, leaning out of the window with a TAC-9. Bond veers off the road as Blofeld unloads a clip at them before speeding off. Airbags bloom up as the Ferrari thumps into a ditch.

Some time later, Bond regains consciousness, crushes his airbag and asks Tracy if she's hurt. There's no response, save for a small drip of blood running down the airbag. He pulls her aside and is confronted by the devastating sight of a bullethole in the middle of her forehead. She slumps forward, dead. "Hell of a wedding gift", Bond grimly manages as we hear the sound of approaching police sirens and the camera pulls back.

THE END OF "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE"

BUT JAMES BOND WILL RETURN IN

"YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE"

Well that's that then. So, now for YOLT! This is the big one, 007, a chance to finally do right by Fleming's (best) novel, while updating it to a modern setting. So, the usual bits and pieces we need to put together :

CAST
Regulars & Recurring characters

James Bond - Daniel Craig
M - Judi Dench
Blofeld - Peter Serafinowicz
Irma Bunt - Milla Jovovich
Tanner - Rory Kinnear
Moneypenny - Anna Friel

NEW CHARACTERS, I added some casting suggestions, feel free to make your own as well

Tiger Tanaka - Head of Japanese Secret Service & ally to Bond
(Ken Watanabe? I know he's pretty much Hollywood's go-to "Japanese Guy", but I think he'd be a great fit too)

Dikko Henderson - Australian agent who introduces Bond to Japanese culture
(Guy Pearce - seems to enjoy doing small/cameo roles in big films :) )

Kissy Suzuki - Japanese diving girl, Bond's love interest
(?)

Sir James Moloney - MI6's Doctor who consults M about Bond's mental state
(Michael Gambon?)

Other characters needed?

As for the plot, the goal is to do the second half pretty much as-is from the novel (while on a mission in Japan, Bond discovers that Blofeld has surfaced there in a castle where he has built 'The Garden of Death', a site for people to commit suicide in, etc), but the first half probably needs some beefing up for a modern Bond thriller. Any ideas what to do with 'Magic 44'? I'm thinking this can be reworked a la Casino Royale by bringing in terrorism or some kind of modern threat, maybe with Tanaka and Dikko getting in on the action.

We'll also need some kind of PTS, not sure what this would involve just yet.

Locations - obviously Japan dictates the character and feel of the novel so that's where it has to take place, but I'm not averse to having other locations in the first portion of the film, PTS etc, if need be.

So, yeah, ideas - post em if you got em

My ideas:

* PTS begins with Tracy’s funeral followed by Bond hunting down Irma Bunt in Crumper’s Dick, Australia

* Ken Watanabe as Tiger Tanaka. He seems to have become the go-to guy for these kinds of roles but he's not exactly a 'household' name, so why not use him here? :)

* A re-imagined take on the whole "Magic 44" subplot could take inspiration from the whole Wikileaks controversy of the last few months.

* Nakama Yukie as Kissy Suzuki

* Hayabusa luxury bullet train. Bullet trains have become somewhat synonymous with Japan the last few years. As I recall from the original film, Bond and Tiger had a meeting inside a private compartment on an underground train. This seems like a natural update of that idea.

* Tiger/Nakama’s car, the Mitsuoka Himiko roadster

* The Skybike - a modern day Little Nellie?

* Aokigahara Forest, Japan – location of suicide forest. It's pretty chilling when you think that a place like this actually exists (talk about life imitating art, huh?) and all the pictures I've seen from it are extremely unsettling and creepy. Some of these snapshots even show dead bodies hanging from tree limbs and moss-covered skeletons hidden amongst the shrubbery--haunting stuff. It would be too-perfect a setting for a much more low-key and intimate final showdown between Bond and Blofeld as opposed to the bombastic volcano lair battle from the original film.

With giant rats? :D

I think we had a little discussion before about killing Bunt early on vs keeping her throughout the film. Mr.Blofeld argued that she is a vital part of Blofeld's insane character as he appears in YOLT, and I'm inclined to agree.

What about a PTS that shows Bond hunting down someone else - a middleman perhaps, someone who handled Blofeld's money (we can reveal that MI6 had Blofeld's assets unfrozen before Bond attacked Piz Gloria, and his accounts have all suddenly been drained). Bond interrogates and then murders him, and it's a brief, brutal PTS like Casino Royale, though instead of showing Bond experience his first kill, this one shows how over the edge he's gone. In other words, something like the DAF PTS, but with no comedy, sideburns, or plastic surgery doubles!

I don't mind having Tracy's funeral. In fact that can be the opening shot, but we reveal...that Bond is absent! Everyone's wondering where he is, and then we smash cut to Bond slugging someone in the face.

OK. How would this work exactly, it would have to involve Britain and Japan somehow. So I assume someone is leaking British and Japanese secret information, and Bond is sent in to fix to leak, so to speak.

* Nakama Yukie as Kissy Suzuki

OK, I know nothing about her, but she seems very sexiful. Her bio says she's the daughter of a Japanese fisherman! That's a background that will come in handy here.

* Hayabusa luxury bullet train. Bullet trains have become somewhat synonymous with Japan the last few years. As I recall from the original film, Bond and Tiger had a meeting inside a private compartment on an underground train. This seems like a natural update of that idea.

Yes this is stuff we can work in, though we'd have to have a good reason for the skybike...!

Yes this seems like a good, moody location for the surrounding area, but I would also like to have Blofeld in a castle like the novel.

So it seems pearl diving is still alive, at least a little bit. Mostly around Toba ,so that can be the vague location of Blofeld's hideout.

Guy Pearce doesn't really fit my mind's image of Dikko... although this bloke sort of does. ;)

I also think Watanabe's not right for Tiger; perhaps a little younger, like this fellow?

I think we could deviate slightly from the novel, by having Tanaka want to take out Shatterhand, feeling what he does is wrong, but his superiors want none of it, as it's reviving the economy on the coast after the earthquake; Tanaka feels he must does what is right, and so promises Magic 44 to the British (i.e., Bond) in exchange for eliminating Shatterhand, even though he knows that if things go pear-shaped, his head'll be on the block.

Nice way to complicate the plot, methinks. :)

Erm...not really an actor though, is he.

Well I think if he's head of the Japanese SS, he has to be a little old-ish, Ken W. at 53 seems to be to be in the right ballpark.

This sounds good, presumably Blofeld snuck in and purchased land on the cheap after the 'quake. (Though if we're following a realistic timeline, this movie is probably made in about 2022! :dizzy: )

The head, yes, but I always figured Tanaka to be only a little older than Bond, with a menacing sort of aura that I can't really see Watanabe projecting... and, to be fair, Tsuyoshi Ihara is just five years older than Daniel Craig. ;)

Nick Cave has acted, and he's a brilliant screenwriter; I can see him injecting the right amount of naturalism into the role of the rugged Richard Lovelace Henderson.

I know that this is an idea that we've already discussed, but I just wanted to reiterate again just how well this location would fit into the storyline.

Regarding the earthquake, I think that it would be best to mention it, at the very most, only in passing, if at all.

I still like Watanabe as Tiger, but I'm fine using the other guy that was mentioned.

I hope we go with my basic concept for the PTS (opening on Tracy's funeral, Draco furious that Bond is absent, then cut to Bond in Australia) but it doesn't have to be Bunt that Bond is hunting down. I also think we should have one final scene with Draco before Bond runs off to Japan. If the idea is to add more locations to the film, perhaps we could send Bond to Sicily for the last time we (and implicitly Bond) ever see Marc-Ange.

I think we should do right by the '67 film by working in the Skybike as a modernized Little Nellie because she was, IMO, the most memorable element of that film not coined by Fleming that could feasibly be adapted to a contemporary re-telling of the original novel (hollowed-out volcano bases not withstanding ;)). Not sure how she would be worked in though; I imagine something practical like aerial scouting the Garden of Death?

Using the Skybike would also give us an opportunity to introduce a new character, a sort of Q for the Japanese Secret Service. :)

I definitely think that it should start with Tracey's funeral with, as I think has already been mentioned, the first shot we see of Bond being him punching some guy right in the face. One suggestion I would make regarding Bond's kills in this film would be to have Bond seeming to enjoy killing the people who stand in the way of him reaching his ultimate target of taking out Blofeld and Bunt. Bond is described as hating that particular part of his job (and that sentiment is reflected in the film version of Casino Royale), so it would be a great way to show just how emotionally unhinged (or closed off or however you want to phrase it) Bond has become and show that he's basically willing to do just about anything to get a shot at Blofeld, and is perhaps willing to go a bit too far to the point that me might actually jeopardize his chance at that goal.

One suggestion that I would make to a scene with Bond doing aerial scouting of the Garden of Death would be for him to get up there but not be able to see down on it because it's fogged over. First of all, I think that would add an even greater sense of mystery to it, but secondly I think that Bond should see the area for the first time when he actually sets foot into it, which would leave him unprepared for its horrors.

Yeah I like the idea of the PTS for this film being a reflection or companion piece of the one we got for CR. But instead of a new 00 learning the ropes, it'd be a seasoned pro going way over the edge in trying to "persuade" someone to give up info on Blofeld.

One suggestion that I would make to a scene with Bond doing aerial scouting of the Garden of Death would be for him to get up there but not be able to see down on it because it's fogged over. Yeah I can see this; one earlier idea thrown about was that the confrontation with Blofeld should take place during a violent storm, which, with the unstable land Blofeld used to build his castle on, would result in it collapsing. (IIRC, Fleming wrote that the castle was on top of a geyser, but we can switch it to being near an earthquake fault line to add some real world topical-ness to it. It would be revealed that Blofeld swooped in after the recent quake to buy up his land on the cheap).

Another issue here - are we really going to have Blofeld using the pseudonym of Guntrum von Shatterhand? It seems to me that if you're trying to be incognito in another country, you wouldn't choose such a ridiculous and over the top name. Maybe we can just have his new identity being "Dr. Guntrum", and work the name 'Shatterhand' in somewhere else, maybe it's a codename that Tiger Tanaka uses for the mission against Blofeld, calling it Operation Shatterhand or something, as in : "to smash the hand of death that has gripped our country", Tanaka muses, pouring more sake for Bond.

And does anyone else have casting thoughts on Tanaka/Dikko/Kissy etc? There have been a couple of suggestions but I'd like to hear from all comers before nailing the parts down. I wonder if terminus will be weighing in on this one!

I liked coco's suggestion for Kissy. I think it would be good to have an unknown actress as the main Bond girl after going fairly high profile with Charlize Theron in the last one.

As for Dikko and Tanaka, I don't have any ideas for them, so I'm happy with whoever the rest of the group decides on.

A couple of other ideas:

-If we're going the wikileaks direction for Magic 44, how about either Sam Neill or James Woods. Woods would play the kind of character I would imagine this particular villain to be, and Neill is someone who should have been cast in a Bond film a long time ago, so he needs to finally be cast in one at some point.

-If Guy Pearce doesn't end up being Dikko, then maybe he could be the informant that Bond dispatches in the PTS. If not Pearce, then maybe Richard Roxburgh.

-For the title track, I was thinking Lindsey Buckingham. The title track for this iteration of YOLT should be something that's rather moody, somber, and a bit off-kilter, which is exactly what Buckingham's music, at least as of late, has been. A couple of examples: Go Insane (Live), which is rather low key. A more hard-edged Murrow Turning Over In His Grave (although a potential Bond track would be without the layered vocals in the chorus. Also, while it says it's a Fleetwood Mac song, the song was actually completed before the band even reformed, but it made its way onto the album anyway, so it's really a solo effort that found its way onto the FM disc). Another fine example would be the song "Come" from Fleetwood Mac's last album, but the lyrics can be interpreted in a somewhat explicit way, so I won't link to that one. Most of his stuff for Fleetwood Mac is fairly straightfoward (yet still brilliant) rock/pop, but his solo work is the type of somber and off-the-wall type of stuff that I could see easily fitting into the sound that YOLT should have.

German for "Shatterer" (close to Shatterhand) is Zertrümmerer; maybe he could be Dr. Guntram von Zertrümmerer? Slightly more subtle... ;)

Aha - that might the way to go. Anyway I went ahead and wrote a little PTS, this doesn't have to be set in stone but it's the kind of mood I wanted to start the film off with and let the audience know right away this isn't, you know, a 'Diamonds are forever' style romp! Hopefully it's a short sharp shock kind of vibe, I'm trying to homage the CR PTS a little.

GUNBARREL SEQUENCE

Opens on...

(*footage to be filmed at the end of OHMSS shoot! :) )

"Bond, Teresa", a simple gravestone. We are at Marc-Ange Draco's mansion in SICILY, where a funeral service is ending. Mourners include Draco himself and M. As the service winds down and well-wishers begin to depart, M looks around, puzzled. It seems one man is notably absent. Amongst the groups of flowers on the grave, she notices a solitary rose, with the card marked simply "J".

Draco excuses himself from his wife(?) and approaches M.

Draco - Still no word from him?
M - Just the one communique asking for indefinite leave, which, under the circumstances, I granted him.
Draco - And this man Blofeld?
M - We're using all our resources, round the clock to try and find him, Mr.Draco, but it looks like the man has vanished from the face of the Earth.
(awkward pause)
Draco - It is a pity James could not be here today, but at the same time, I understand.
M - You know he...once lost someone else.
Draco - I had heard, yes. For me, it is terrible enough, but for him, to lose two loves, what would it do to a man like Bond?
M - I honestly couldn't tell you. But I'm sure of one thing - he's not the type to sit around and wait for something to happen.

Smash cut to -

THUD! A fist crunches into a face, and a man slams into a wall. The burly GOON in a suit fights back against his aggressor, but is barely able to land a blow as the other man defends himself expertly.

We're in a cramped office, where a thin man, KASK, watches this brutal spectacle, terrified as he grips the arms of his chair.

Establishing shot - "Tartu, Estonia", an office building at nighttime, surrounded by rain falling on ice.

The fight rages on, ending with the goon's head being slammed into a wall, his attacker KICKING him in the face to send him into unconsciousness.

The man left standing straightens his tie and approaches Kask, who is now trying to disappear into his chair.

A desk lamp is turned and points straight into Kask's face. The man behind it is seen only in silhouette.

Bond - As you've probably already realized, I've taken care of the security downstairs as well as this gentleman, so its just you and me now, Mr.Kask.

Kask - Please, I don't know anything. I'm just an accountant!

Bond - You know, they say during an interrogation you should never actually ask for the specific information you're looking for. The idea is to slowly tease the information out of your subject. But tonight, Mr. Kask, I'm trying a more unconventional approach.

Kask - Please....I've told you, I know nothing. I have never heard of this man!

Bond drops a sheaf of papers into his lap. We see a bank statement on top.

Bond - Aleksander Kask, 37 years old, respected accountant on a fixed wage, model citizen with no arrest record. Nothing out of the ordinary, until three days ago, when your bank account received a deposit of 1.5 million Euros. You and I both know where that came from; it's a fee for liquidating his accounts. Where is he?

Kask - I...I don't...

BLAM! Kask SCREAMS as a bullet blows out his left knee.

Bond - It's alright, you have another one of those. Tell me where he is and there's a good chance that you can walk again.

Kask - I told you I know nothing! Please, you have the wrong man!

A pause as Bond picks something up and slides it across the desk. It's a framed family photograph of Kask, his wife, and two daughters.

Bond - I wonder if they know anything about it.

Kask - You...you wouldn't...

Bond - To be honest with you, I'm not sure what I would or wouldn't do anymore. But I am sure of something - the only thing worse than a murderer is the man who protects one.

Kask - OK, OK! Look, ahhh, he didn't tell me! We spoke only on the phone...

Bond - So we're finally getting somewhere. And since you've no doubt activated the silent alarm under your desk, this session's about to come to an end, one way or the other.

Bond steps forward and we see him fully for the first time. Any trace of humanity and emotion are gone. Kask sees nothing more than a stone cold killer, pointing a gun straight at him.

Bond - Now, Mr. Kask, tell me everything you know about Ernst Stavro Blofeld, starting with where I find him. And I'd better like your answers, or you're going to be putting the 'kask' in 'casket'. (bad one liner?)

Off Kask's terrified reaction as Bond's pistol jams into his temple, we cut to :

I like it.

My only suggestion, and it's a minor one, would be that maybe Bond could be a bit rougher with Kask before he slides the picture of his family across the desk at him to try that angle. I could see Bond beating this person to within an inch of his life, realizing that Kask isn't going to give it up (or maybe he really doesn't know), before deciding to go with the other option.

Just out of curiosity, is this a scene that's going to pick back up after the titles or would Kask's fate be learned through some other means?

I had in mind that it would be referenced after the PTS, Tanner or someone would refer to Kask as being "hospitalized, but stable" and it would be revealed that Bond got no useful information out of him, and MI6 has called in favors with the Estonian government to cover this incident up.

As for Bond after the PTS, Fleming shows him spending most of his time gambling and drinking. (Perhaps we can have him smoking too, to further show how he doesn't care anymore). I'd really like to show Bond as a complete drunken mess, maybe even getting booted out of a casino! From then IIRC, M decides to send Bond on a relatively low key mission to Japan to get rid of him for a while and 'straighten him out' etc.

Instead of Kask, how about Trask?

Also, I'd like a reference to the two jobs M sent him on in between OHMSS and YOLT, where "on one he nearly got himself killed, and on the other he made a mistake that was dangerous for others"... which makes me wonder if we could bring in Sir James Molony and Blades, at this point? :)

Yeah I was planning to use Molony, I mentioned him in the casting post. But the way we've set things up, with Tracy's funeral, I don't think gives us time for any 'in between' missions Bond could have done. Presumably what I wrote for the PTS would qualify as "making a mistake that was dangerous for others", i.e. all of MI6

Trask, Kask, yes fine, I just picked that out of a page of Estonian names :)

What exactly do they do at Blades in the novel? I just remember that Bond is portrayed as spending all his spare time gambling and drinking.

That's what people do at Blades; it's a high-class gambling and drinking establishment... with some good meals, as well, if you're into that sort of thing. ;)

Which M are we on, now, by the way? Still Dench?

As for Molony, how about Benedict Cumberbatch?

I'm glad you brought that up, Matt. I was going to suggest that we phase out Dench's M at the end of "TMWTGG" and introduce her replacement (Tanner?) or a new character at the end of the story or with "DAF". I know we're not following any sensible timeline with these films, but "TMWTGG" would be Dench's thirteenth (!) turn as M (the four Brosnan films, two Craig installments and seven of our imaginary remake films); Bernard Lee did eleven films over the course of seventeen years so I think it's safe to say that Dench has done her time.

Perhaps we could re-cast Bond after "TMWTGG", as well?

P.S. Fantastic PTS, dino. That's exactly how I imagined it. I wish you had kept it in Australia, as a nod to the Pearson book, but beyond that, no complaints whatsoever. :)

Yes as I hinted earlier, this movie is probably taking place around 2022, putting Craig in his Rog/OP years, which will make TMWTGG his AVTAK! I think we should keep Dench/Craig through TMWTGG also, to complete the Fleming-esque arc. If we go on to DAF, TSWLM, MR etc we can always recast. Interesting idea to bump Tanner up to the new M...
I took a cue from Marc Forster and picked Estonia as somewhere cold and bleak to reflect Bond's mental state :)

I'm sure we'll make it that far, as long as the regulars stay interested in the project. I've already amassed a pretty sizable stockpile of ideas for all the future remakes up to and including "MR".

It will be very interesting once we hit "TSWLM" because we'll have so much material from which to draw ideas--the Fleming novel, the original film and the unused Anthony Burgess script, plus whatever contemporary, original ideas we decide to throw in. I think "TSWLM" has the potential to be the most compelling remake we undertake. :)

I think TSWLM will be an interesting one to do because it's really the best opportunity to do something completely original. There's not a whole lot to use from the novel and the film is based around an idea that has been done to death even within the Bond franchise itself, so it could be an opportunity to do a TLD-approach to the film and have the events of the novel serve as a launching point for a much bigger story. Assuming that it comes after TMWTGG as it does in the original timeline, I've got a few ideas for how to carry over from there as well as a few casting ideas.

Another idea for YOLT, albeit a very small one, would be to include this Garden of Death painting somewhere in the film. Granted, that's not something that would be necessarily vital to a film treatment, but I can easily imagine seeing this painting as either a mural or hanging up somewhere in Blofeld's castle.

EDIT: Sorry for the double-post. Thought I hit the "edit" button.

I was unfamiliar with it as well until I did a Google search for "Garden of Death" and it turned up as the first result. I think it definitely fits right in with the tone and content of the story.

Heh...I'm fine with keeping him in the suit of armor, but if there are any modern alternatives or cool-looking protective gear, I'm open to ideas.

Yes we can make mention of that painting hanging in Blofeld's castle somewhere.

So what do we want to do for the post-PTS scenes? I was picturing a drunken Bond gambling at Blades, with Tanner having to come in and drag him out of there to see M, who has consulted with James Molony to decide what to do with Bond. From there we would get a stern M telling Bond to shape up or ship out, and she sends him off to Japan on a relatively minor mission, just to get rid of him for a while.
