At this moment in time, this young man would be my choice as Bond #7, but I sincerely hope for 2 more movies from Craig first.

That's a nice picture of Henry. I was of the opinion that he was unsuitable (read too pretty) to be Craigs's successor but he's maturing quite nicely. Certainly wouldn't kick him out...uh never mind! B)

Anyone but Henry Cavill.

About Armitage, he still has no lips. Otherwise he would look the part. Hell, maybe they can shoot Botox into his lips for the role.

Fleming's Bond is described as having thin, cruel lips. Armitage succeeds on that regard.

Agreed. As for Henry Cavill - too young, and he looks it. Even a "young" James Bond has to have the air of a veteran about him.

What strikes me, looking at the early Bond films, is how much Connery looks like a man who has well and truly experienced life, even though he made his first Bond film in his early 30s. The "lived in" look, if you like. The same goes for Daniel Craig.

I realise that "post teenage" is the look for your typical screen hero at the moment, but not, I hope, for Bond.

Agreed. Cavhill is only 27 right now (too young for Bond), lets see how his features mature in another 8-10 years.

Cavill will never be right for the role. Even when he's older, he'll still be doe-eyed and button-nosed, with a broad, open face - hardly "saturnine". He looks like Yuri Gagarin. The actor who plays Bond should look like a carnivore, not an herbivore.

I'd much prefer someone who looks like Richard Armitage. (I've never seen him in anything, but he's phenotypically perfect.) I'm all in favor of Craig doing five (or more) films, but when the time finally comes to recast, I suspect the producers will make a conscious effort to find someone whose looks are more "traditionally" Bondian - tall, dark, lean, a bit cruel-looking, and lithe.

Quite. Cavill looks like someone who'd worry about "man-made climate change", as though such a thing exists.

If Craig were being replaced today, I'd suggest Michael Fassbender or Luke Mably. I'm somewhat certain that both of those actors were considered (along with many others) for CASINO ROYALE.

My monies on Michael Fassbender being in the frame come 2014 or so.

He'll be in his late 30's. His star is rising fast. He's a brilliant actor. He's got the looks and twinkle in the eye.

Debbie McWilliams cast him in Centurion - sure that's not a great film, and the material he had to work with was weak, but if McWilliams is still casting the Bonds then - and she's big pals with Barbara, so I'm sure she will, then Fassbender will DEF end up on a short list. I bet Eon have their hot eyes on him already.

I'm afraid that's the problem with him! By the time Craigs steps out of the door Fassbender will be very well-known and it'll be hard for EON(or whoever will be at that time) to get him for the job. Just imagine Christian Bale and you'll see what I mean! B)

Yeah, Fassbender for sure. I want...no I demand that he be Bond no.7.

As it happens, he's in the running to star in the new x-men film as a young Magneto and possibly in the new rebooted spider-man film as a villain. Either way, I want Fassbender to be Bond no.7. Please God, make this happen.

P.S. Craig needs to do at the very least one or two more...at the very least.

As has been said before, I'd like Craig to stay on for as long as possible. Because he's very good in the part, because he still has a lot to deliver, and because (as Zencast said, if I'm not mistaken) I like to connect with a Bond who lasts for a little while.

But then, having read all the posts on Fassbender, I checked him out on Google (sorry, never heard of him before!). And this is my reaction:

"What?!"

I mean, guys, are you for real or is this some kind of private joke?

Wasn't "What?! You must be joking!" precisely the reaction a lot of people had to Daniel Craig when they didn't know his work and had only seen a few photos of him on the internet?

No joke, mate.

He's an excellent actor. Got a great range and screen presence.

I had the pleasure of auditioning him a couple of years back before he broke out with Hunger and he was just so good; unfortunately our film didn't lock finance so no deal, but everyone wanted him. He's very striking, got charm to spare and has built up a tremendous reputation.

Also, the women seem to love him. The girls in our production office were, to coin a phrase, wetting their pants when he came in.

Take a look at some of his work, check out Inglorious Basterds. His big scene in the bar cellar is one of the film's highlights, if not "the" highlight.

Mark my words, come next Bond actor, I'm betting he'll be in the frame.

BTW; I love Craig, so I want him to stay at least for 2 more films.

Fassbender is also excellent in FISH TANK.

It seems to me that Fassbender is in almost exactly the same position in the film industry as Craig was prior to CASINO ROYALE. He's a highly-acclaimed, extremely versatile actor who's managed to land roles in some productions loved by critics (as well as the odd more popular thing like INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - this is Fassbender's TOMB RAIDER, although IB is obviously a much better film than TR). But he is not a household name.

A quick trip to the IMDb informs me that he's also a bit younger than I'd thought - 33. This makes him Craig's junior by almost ten years, although Fassbender is rugged enough to be a viable replacement for Craig (unlike Cavill, who looks young enough to be Craig's son and won't be the next 007 unless Eon takes the highly unlikely step of doing another "first mission" reboot).

Fassbender is certainly not a wrong suggestion. And I would heartily recommend FISH TANK and HUNGER. He is also playing ROCHESTER opposite Judi Dench in JANE EYRE, a part once frequented by Timothy Dalton.

Yes, do take a look.

Inglorious Basterds is very good - although a bit over indulgent - so it's worth seeing anyway.

As Loomis says, Fish Tank is good if u like "kitchen sink Brit drama". Very well acted and directed.

Also, Eden Lake. Brit horror. Fassbender plays the ordinary man out of his depth - and gives a very fearless performance.

Centurion is a so so film, and doesn't give him good material to work with, but he's very good at the action demands of the film.

Looks like he has a choice now of playing either Magneto in X-Men Origins or the bad guy in the Spiderman re-boot.

I could picture Fassbender as Bond without too much trouble. Inglourious Basterds could serve as his screen test.

Even though he's probably pretty close to the physical description of the literary Bond, he looks a little slight to me for the screen incarnation - nothing that couldn't be fixed with a few trips to the gym, though.

Craig wasn't exactly all that buffed when he was cast as Bond, Craig's always been cut and on the slight side prior to Bond but for Bond he packed on more mass.

Fassbender dropped the weight for hunger and was in great shape for 300 so he can definitely alter his physique easily.

I have to agree with everyone saying Michael Fassbender. He was raised in Ireland so he can easily do a British accent, and I must say he seems a fine actor (I've only seen him in Inglourious Basterds). He looks the suave type that would also have no problem killing with ease. That's what we need from a Bond.

I'd love Craig to do 1 more if not 2 or maybe more but if Fassbender is interested then yes please, nice to see Zorin is warming to him there was a time when he was dead against it. Fassbender is only actor around who has any chance of topping Craig in the role although we've yet to see DC at his best as 007 at least I hope we have, taking into account if he gets to be Bond again a factor with the MGM business and how long it goes on. The fact he won't return is starting to seem a possibiliy if this mess isn't sorted soon.

I agree with the members that have brought up Michael Fassbender for Bond 7. He's got the charm, swagger, dare, intensity, and suaveness to be James Bond right away. Plus he is a terrific actor who can convey with absolute perfection body-language dialogue. Just a look, and you understand what's on his mind. With all due respect to Daniel Craig, and I do think the world of him as James Bond, I would certainly not be unhappy whatsoever if Fassbender is given the role right now. EON came this close to landing Hugh Jackman in 2005, when he was already huge. I can totally see the real possibility of EON getting Fassbender in a couple of years, no matter how high his price may be.
