Oh how I loved those 'Round The Horne' shows. Listening to them Sunday lunchtimes as Mum cooked the dinner. Had the chance to listen to them again recently as a friend gave me MP3s of about 40 of the episodes. Just brilliant! He also gave me some Goon Shows, which I love. I've heard many over the years but I was too young to hear them on the radio.
Sorry, getting off thread.

Fassbender would be an intriguing choice. But I hope Craig will continue for at least two more films. By then Fassbender will be too old.

Tom Hardy is an odd one. He is - and I hate this phrase - quite an acting chameleon. His personal baggage would not maybe endear him to everyone, but he is a superb acting force. His work in BRONSON and STUART, A LIFE BACKWARDS is as good as screen acting can get. And he is MUCH better looking than Mr Craig.

Oh boy, I thought, I was warming to you. I googled that guy. he is not even better looking, much less MUCH better looking. Just the same type, only less appealing.
But of course, its all about personal taste...

No way, mate. If Craig basically says everything will (probably) be fine, then why shouldn't we at least try to believe him and share his optimism?

Then again, a certain T. P. Dalton might have said similiar things back in the early nineties, but I am confident Craig will do at least one more film. At least I choose to believe this rather than walking around being annoyed he MIGHT not. I think things will get sorted out in the end, although I would off course prefer if Bond 23 would be released tomorrow.

I want Craig to stay on for as long as he doesn't look too old for it.
For a replacement, I would want the same type of guy, rough at the edges but still a classy Brit.

I really doubt my interest in the film Bond will hold for a seventh Bond, especially if he comes too soon. I love the continuity of the series, seeing the same actor, even when he starts getting old. I haven't even really settled in yet with Craig. QOS did not move the ball at all. I want to live with a Bond for a while. I don't require new, new, new. It's pretty amazing to think that I could go to a Bond movie with indifference. But I fear I would be indifferent if they brought in a new Bond and did another reboot too soon. So I guess my answer here is I don't want anyone for Bond 7 because that could mean the end for me and 007 (at least on film).

Well my interest will certainly hold if Cavill is (eventually) cast, and I personally hope he is the successor to Craig.

However, I get your point totally. Much of the charm of the latter Connery and Moore films was because they both had history with the role. There was a definite confidence in their performances because of this - both these actors really became Bond.

I hope the MGM shenanigans gets sorted and we have more of Craig. If we get a more protracted delay and a film eventually gets made with a new Bond hopefully it will be far enough away so it won't be a 'reboot' but a return of Bond plain and simple. I haven't settled in with Craig either, and its frustration to say the least that Eon can't get on with it and make 23 right now.

I've not seen this name mentioned yet - Richard Armitage. He played a suitably, if ambiguously villainous Guy Of Gisbourne in the BBC Robin Hood remake, and of course appeared as MI5 agent Lucas North in Spooks. Fair enough, he's not a big name in Hollywood - neither was the incumbent Bond until he became Bond. (come to think of it, were any of Craig's predecessors big names in cinema until Bond came along?)

Armitage would look the part, can act, and has played both the good and the bad - and the best Bonds, I think, had an acting resume combining both the heroic and the villainous.

That said, I hope there is no vacancy for the part of James Bond for years to come.

Just saw Season 7 of MI-5 two weeks ago and while watching him, the thought of him playing Bond did cross my mind. He is very reminiscent of Timothy Dalton. Except bit less uptight. I don't know how he would go over with American audiences or women. However I must say that I am really holding out for Andy Whitfield! He would be perfect to step into Daniel Craig's shoes.

If Bond 7 comes too soon and we're doing the whole starting over thing again, something tells me I’ll be burned out and fed up. I'm connected to Craig and there would be a huge sense of unfinished business. Transitioning again after that would be pretty tough.

I've had him in mind for a while. He's definitely got the 007 look. He'd be perfect as the hard drinking and hard smoking literary Bond. As the modern Hollywood Blow-Stuff-Up 'Bond', he'd be nothing special.

Of course, I don´t want a reboot again should Craig end his tenure. And I don´t want Craig to stop after only two films. But should that happen I would have extreme confidence in EON to give us a new actor worthy of all the other great choices that came before.

Generally - wasn´t any new actor a reboot for Bond? I would be fine with it - unless they do a "Spiderman" and want to tell the origin story again...

Are they really retelling the origin story again for the Spider-Man reboot? I assumed they were just going with younger actors and a more juvenile setting to tell a different story.

Except he has no lips. Isn't there a descriptive statement in Casino Royale about Bond's mouth? I don't remember it too well, but it was something along the lines of 'wild' or something. With no lips, Armitage certainly does not answer that description.

Yeah, before Craig got the role Hugh Jackman had my vote. However, if IMDB and my calculator are correct, he is 42 now. By the time the role got recast and a new film got lined up he might well be too old to do more than a film or two. (That is if they stick with the robotic, runs like a terminator, runs through walls Bond that we have now.) But didn't I read somewhere that Barbara Broccoli called him 'too Fey'? (Or did I imagine that?) Wolverine 'too Fey'? Jesus, if being built like a brick outhouse is 'too Fey', then I wish I was that 'Fey'.

If they go for the old style Bond, he would be all right. As someone said earlier I want to see an actor play the role over many films.

However, I don't think that is going to happen so yes, Richard Armitage would be a good candidate. He does a good job in Spooks, (MI5) and now he is in 'Strike Back' playing an ex SAS man so he can certainly do the action stuff fine.

I wouldn't complain if he got the part. (Psst, and he actually looks the part.)

Lips ... ? LIPS ... ? Daniel Craig has got the wrong bloody hair colour and nobody seems to care about that!

yes they did say Jackman was to wimpy looking... which as anyone on earth other than EON knows is that Jackman is a dedicated and versitial actor which means he can gain the muscle or lose it depending on his role. Jackman does what he needs to to get into character. I am hoping with his recent involvement with EON he might actually be considered, because from a business standpoint, if Craig waits to long for the next bond film, his career will be over, whereas Jackman already has a career, so if he wants to wait 5 years + between films, its not going to kill his image.

Don't have a heart attack, man. I was not a fan of Craig-as-007 when he was cast for the same reason. I still have problems seeing him as James Bond. I have to admit though, he plays the role well and he's got the right voice for it (yes voice is also important. A problem I had with Brosnan). But Craig's look and stature will never scream "James Bond" to me.

About Armitage, he still has no lips. Otherwise he would look the part. Hell, maybe they can shoot Botox into his lips for the role. B)

Just a reminder of what we have right now and how hard it will be, to find a worthy processor. Lets hope it won´t be necessary any time soon - there is still so much potential in his Bond, we haven´t seen yet.
