My dark horse suggestion to play Bond is Michael Shannon...

I'm sure i'm alone on this, but then again i was alone on Craig back in the early noughties ![]()
EDIT: probably not gonna happen for me this time round though, as he's currently 42... Oh well!

Pierce has been asked about a black Bond again:

The real question is: how far along are P&W with their current draft?

I spoke to someone the other day who believed there shouldn't be a 'black Bond' because Film-Bond is already without his character, era and stories so changing his appearance so dramatically will leave him with just the name. Mind you, he also thought Octopussy is one of the worst films, while I think it's the best, so I did keep the salt handy.

Well, that´s exactly how the rumour mill works. Someone says something, it gets picked up and repeated endlessly.
Personally, I would love to see a black Bond, and Elba is such a charismatic presence, he would have been fantastic - but he himself said it correctly: he is too old now to begin.

Ridley knows exactly why he said it. Generates headlines for his new show and, well i'm sure Elba's a mate and these rumours do him no harm.
But at 44 there's no way on earth that Elba is replacing Craig. Unless Eon are going with a one off in the series, or turning it into an anthology with big names actors and directors doing a series of self contained Bond movies.
Personally i'd love that, but when the novelty wears off there's no guarantee the audience would welcome back the one-actor-as-Bond format.
Tp paraphrase Einstein, Eon tend not to play dice. Craig is the only real gamble they've ever taken and though Craig's success could be deemed as proof that gambling works, i think they know when to leave the casino.

I'm by no means a supporter of Jamie Bell as Bond (Lol). But FYI, here's the trailer for his SAS turn in the new 1980s Iranian London embassy siege movie.
Doesn't look half as much fun as the forgotten masterpiece Who Dares Wins, but hey-ho! Bell's certainly no Collins.

Never in a million years would I want Bell near Bond. Good actor, though. Lacks the finesse, I´d say. Craig can do hooligan and suave. Bell, not so sure. He should have had more ballet classes ![]()

I guess it´s likely that EON likes to build up connections with British talent, as it is done in the business, often without concrete plans to cast someone. It´s just a way to stay current and network.

After watching Legion, I really want to see Dan Stevens get a crack at the role. He would have to beef up significantly (although that part probably called for him to look mental - skinny, messed up hair, etc. ) Buff him up, put him back in a tux, and he'll be a worthy successor to Daniel.

He'll doubtless be on the audition list after The Guest.

Which would make him the first Bond actor younger than me.
Oh, boy...

Whoever it is, I hope the next actor won't be muscular. Bond shouldn't be muscular. For most of the year, he's a civil servant.

That´s actualy one of my fears for any Bond coming after Craig. Before him Bond was athletic but no buffed up hulk who could only maintain his physique by having the strictest diet and spending each day two hours in the gym.
Sure, Craig bulked up to make up for being the shortest Bond in height. But it seems, now audiences expect their heroes to look like a superhero.
I would definitely prefer someone with the body like Dalton had.

Muscles!!!
I think Craig has 'developed' this as part of his Bond's story pretty well.
In CR he's straight out of the Special Forces, so the bulky muscles are plausible (if the the exposure they get on tv these days is to be believed).
In QoS the bulk was gone. It was a lean, ripped physique. Perhaps a little too ripped for someone who works a great deal, but the transition from blunt instrument towards a more nuanced agent was evident in his physique as well as his performance. I'm willing to suspend disbelief in terms of how Bond managed to change his physique between movies where no significant time has elapsed ![]()
In SF he's looking older (obviously) but he's allowed his physique to show it; there's the suggestion of a belly at times and the whole first act is about him being out of shape.
In Spectre there's no enfaces upon physique. He's in good shape, but doesn't look like a bulky gym-bunny.
I think Craig's had a plan from the start and followed through with it very well.
But because i don't want to see another 'Bond Begins' reboot i don't see a need for Bond 7 to bulk up for the role. Lean, fit, wiry and fast is how Fleming's Bond is and i always prefer Fleming.
Adrian Brody's physique is a little to thin for the role, but i liked what he did with his character in Predators. Against the expectations created by Arnie in the original, Brody accentuated the benefits of his lean, wiry physique: speed. And it played out very well in the action - completely believable that he out classed his more bulky rivals.
Fassbender's characters in Haywire and X-men: First Class is pretty much Fleming's Bond.
