I know Brosnan's history, actually this photo is even crueller...
I was asking about Brolin and this line "Brolin got the closest as he was actually cast. There were a couple of days in 1982 when he was the Bond of record"

According to the DVD doco Brolin had won the role, but a last minute call from Moore, relented to Cubby's offer ...
Do you reckon the Brolin offer was just to make Moore sweat? Or was it a genuine?
Both.

Screentest material...Judging by pictures Jamie Blackley could definitely be a suitable candidate, with quite a bit more aging though. He'd have to bulk up just a little too. Another candidate I'll throw out that's probably too young and skinny right now is Tom Hughes. He plays Prince Albert on the show Victoria.

As for actually going with Brolin, they had some strange ideas along the way. I understand getting close with John Gavin before Sir Sean signed up for DAF, and I understand getting close with Sam Neill later on. But...Brolin ? Ugh.
Traditionally, they used the Bond-enters-his-hotel-bedroom-and-finds-a-lovely-lady-in-his-bed scene for tests. Does anyone know whether:
a. They still do ? That is, did they still use it when casting CR ?
b. Do they use any other scenes ? For example, to see how the actor looks running, fighting, walking into a room in a tux, sitting down in a tux, etc.

No new news here either. Just more speculation with all the same familiar names.

All Ms. Harris really is saying, as for it being a "hint", is that the producers still want Mr. Craig. It says nothing about how Mr. Craig sees it.

I imagine Craig's waiting on a story pitch he likes before he says 'probably'. Then a first draft before he says 'definitely'.
At least that's what i'd do if i were him, after the last movie's botched script.
He'll also want a say in who Directs.

The segment of SF wherein Bond disappeared, did other things, then showed up after being away a while -- IF Craig returns to the role -- will have been a somewhat prescient of the situation now. Perhaps Bond 25 -- IF Craig returns to the role -- may have an in-joke about Bond being away and uncertainties on his return. It would fit in, after all, since at the SP he was off with his sweetie, seemingly for good.

Imo opinion the plan was always to have Blofeld/Bunt kill Swan - this scene starting a movie, rather than ending it.
Of course Craig's dithering (if indeed he ever really has) would've thrown a spanner in the works.

I don´t mean to delve into tabloid speculation - but since this could also affect Craig´s plans for the future I will mention here that apparently Craig´s marriage to Rachel Weiz has ended.

No wonder Craig doesn't seem to be thinking about Bond too much at the moment. My sympathies to the both - 'nothing good about goodbye', is there?
Hope it works out amicably and they can both get on with their lives and, to be selfish, Craig chooses to go back to Bond.

FWIW, other sources are saying the gossip is untrue.I don´t mean to delve into tabloid speculation - but since this could also affect Craig´s plans for the future I will mention here that apparently Craig´s marriage to Rachel Weiz has ended.

Ooops. I apologize. Damn this internet...

Well that was the shortest separation and reunion in history

Almost as short as La-La Land's Oscar victory . . .
I still think it's not Craig that's the holdup but the studio situation. (And Eon's being involved in other projects.) Without a studio, B25 isn't a "go" project, so would Eon start hiring writers, thinking about casting, etc.? That's expending resources with no promise of return. (MGW has said that, despite the series' success, there's never any guarantee that there'll be a next film.)

It is the studio issue, so they could hire writers, but that's about it - They'd need specific filming dates for any other crew or cast.

If MGM wanted to sell to Chinese investors they know they can´t sustain themselves anymore.
Best case: they will try to milk the Bond cow as soon as possible.
Worst case: they will face a slow process of being auctioned off in pieces.

You say that, but there when there was the hold-up in 2010, EON still continued writing the script in the hope that things would be resolved swiftly.

Apparently the Chinese are not readily able to make good on a purchase, per an article cited on another fan-site.

I´m not trying to do the marketing for vodaphone - but did anybody see their new ad? It stars Daniel Craig - and he´s also on the front page of their website with a big photo. Just if you´re interested to see how he looks now.

Seems to be. YouTube has it region locked for Germany.

To old now to have a go at it, but he could've been a strong 007.
He got the looks

I would've preferred him over Craig, to tell the truth, though I would've picked Clive Owen overall.
