I just finished transferring to DVD-R the uncut version of the 1954 Casino Royale, so I may in a couple of weeks start watching the series in order on a weekly basis.

Kudos also to Connery, Jack Lord(the first and best Leiter), Bernard Lee, John Kitzmiller and the first gallery of amazingly beautiful Bond women(Ursula Andress, Zena Marshall, Eunice Gayson, Margaret Le Wars and Lois Maxwell) and of course Terence Young for making it such an enjoyable viewing experience.

It struck me how brilliantly paced the film is. Sure, go ahead and hate the space sequences – I don’t, but up until where the shuttles take off, I seriously cannot see how people can hate the film. Set piece after set piece, each one as entertaining as the last.

I watched Moonraker today. Being time poor, it was the first time in a long time I sat down and completely watched a Bond film in full without fast forwarding.

Exactly, sharpshooter. It's one of the smoothest paced Bond films that just flows very well as it goes thru the basic Bond formula. I also like how MR is one of those Bond films where the 2 main supporting characters(the villain and the heroine) are introduced early on and have huge roles throughout the picture. Some films have Bond meet the villain early on and the heroine isn't involved until we're about halfway thru(GF, OP) or the heroine early on and the villain halfway thru(OHMSS, DAF) but MR features them both early on. And I love the outer space scenes. They make for a good variation on the standard final battle/villain's HQ-that-explodes type sequence.
As for me, I watched Goldfinger for the first time in ages. As always, a Bond classic and a very satisfying example of a "duel-between-titans" style 007 film. It's easy to see why the public took to it and why EON wanted to return to its style of Bond film when Guy Hamilton returned to the series with DAF and and why EON later remade it(more or less) twice as OP(very well) and AVTAK(not nearly as good).
I love the official trailer for it-
"Double-0-Seven. It spells BOND!"

Enjoyable in different ways, but talk about contrast....Quantum of Solace has really jumped up in my estimation after that viewing; I absolutely loved it. I found Octopussy to be a little underwhelming...and Roger's outfits just weren't up to his usual standard! Those bodywarmers....

I'm actually about to begin working through the second discs on each Ultimate Edition DVD now that I've watched them all.
