Octopussy. I think it’s now probably my third favourite Moore Bond film, after The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. It’s not as good as those two, but it’s in a similar vein – throwing in everything for an entertaining show.
Nice top 3, sharpshooter! Those are my top 3 Moore Bonds as well. I like the Bonds were they throw in everything for an entertaining show. Although I love CR, I hope Craig gets a MR/OP/TSWLM-type Bond film prior to his exiting the role.

I've always ranked this one near the bottom, but I can't remember enjoying it as much as I did this time around. Not one of the best Bondmovies, but a very enjoyable and good movie.

LTK on Blu doesn't really help the movie much except the grand finale which is very exciting.

Octopussy & OHMSS last night.
Those 2 would make a great double feature.
Moonraker. I looked for and noticed many things in common with On Her Majesty’s Secret Service which I have also watched recently.
Ah interesting. Would you care to list them for us? It would be an interesting read.
Just read your post here, DaveBond21. I'd be happy to list the OHMSS/MR connections:
1) Both main villains' schemes involve biological warfare and a stable of beautiful women.
2) Both films are second unit directed and edited by John Glen.
3) In both films Bond comes to meet the villain at his estate in a helicopter ride with a female employee of the villain.
4) While staying at the villain's estate, Bond seduces a woman under the villain's power to find out information about the villain's plans.
5) Both films feature a sport at the villain's estate(curling in OHMSS/pheasant hunting in MR)
6) Both films involve a cable car on a mountain.
7) Both films were the last Bond films of their individual decade.
8) Both films featured the strongest Bond heroine(IMHO) of her individual decade.
9) In both films, M is told by a higher-up(PM in OHMSS/Frederick Gray in MR) to relieve Bond of his duties on the case. Bond is given 2 weeks' leave but continues his investigation on his own and gets reassigned to the case.
10) Bond films feature a safe cracking device where Bond makes copies of the villain's info(photocopy machine in OHMSS/minicamera in MR).
11) Both films' PTSs involve Bond with a Bond girl and his battling two thugs.
12) Both main Bond girls use karate in the final battle.
13) The villain's HQ explodes at the end.
14) Both films are partially set in nations whose official language is Portuguese.
15) Both films feature my favorite Bond performance by the individual Bond actor.
16) In both films Bond is separated from the girl as she is kidnapped and taken to the villain's HQ before Bond arrives.
17) Both films feature breathtakingly beautiful sequences of Bond travelling to the villain's main HQ accompanied by a memorable Barry score in the background("Journey to Blofeld's Hideway" in OHMSS/"Flight Into Space" in MR).
18) Both films feature a love story(Bond/Tracy in OHMSS, Jaws/Dolly in MR).
19) Both films are scored by John Barry.
20) Both films song lyrics are by Hal David.
There may be more but that's all I can think of so far. Feel free to add any to the list I may have missed.

I just finished watching Moonraker on DVD UE edition and now I am watching it again but with Rogers comments. This will be the second time I have done this with Moonraker. I am now done watching all the Bond UE's. I think they did a great job on all of them and ended up getting them as opposed to Blu Ray since they are more expensive and jip you out of 2 films per box.
I was going to wait but I ended up saying screw it and now after I get a flat screen TV I will decide to get them all again on Blu Ray or just certain ones.
Moonraker I love because it has everything in a Bond that should be there. A great hero and villian, beautiful women in which Bond gets to know better, and great locations with wonderful color photography. The story line is larger than life which is why the film stands up. Most of the special effects stand up as well which just goes to show how brilliant the film makers are over there in England.
As Roger has said, the money is up there on the screen.
This was covered on another thread but I have come to love Roger as much as Sean and maybe even more so now because I am so familiar with Seans Bond's. I know ever line and every move so this is a breath of fresh air especially since I no longer have any predjudice who plays Bond now. It always was Connery for me but now I just enjoy the film.
Glad to see love for both Sir Rog and Moonraker(his definitive Bond film IMHO) increase.
TND. The mostly juvenal attitude throughout bugged me more than usual. Really liked some of the Carver/Paris/Bond triangle, and even some Bond/Wai Lin scenes had decent enough depth. But too often the film went all cartoony with the characters ala late 70s Moore Bond films... then again, I've always said it's the modern equivalent to TSWLM/MR.
Tomorrow Never Dies is basically the a recap of Lewis Gilbert era sped up for viewers with ADHD. It's the least pretentious and most entertaining entry of the 1990s if the most formulaic.
More and more, the Brosnan films seem like a transition period in the series, building on that Dalton vibe and attempting some seriousness some of the time, but never fully embracing it or even getting the mix right IMO. Baby steps.
Exactly. I have a feeling if Casino Royale had been made during Brosnan's tenure, it probably would've been very similar to The World is not Enough. I'm glad EON waited until post-Brosnan to film it.
As for the last Bond film I watched, it was A View to a Kill. John Barry's elegiac score suitable for Moore as the aging hero giving his swan song, Patrick Macnee, Alison Doody, Fiona Fullerton, Chateaux Chantilly and the battle at the Golden Gate Bridge were the high points. One of the weakest Bond films but still diverting and watchable if the viewer keeps his expectations low.

I just finished watching Thunderball. I do not know how many times I have watched it over the years, 20 maybe? I choose it, because, with all the talk about how Avatar broke the box office record (not adjusted for inflation) I decided to watch the Bond box office champ (adjusted for inflation.) Sean is always cool.
Indeed, steed. Sean is at his ubercoolest in TB.
As for me, The Man with the Golden Gun. Definitely one of the quirkier Bond films inbetween Nick Nack, Goodnight, the funhouse, J.W. Pepper, M's testiness and bickering with Q, scaled down production and villain's plot. Nonetheless, I enjoy it largely because of its offbeat nature and characteristics. I find it far more entertaining than A View to a Kill, the Bond film I watched last before this one. Moore is very good and underrated here early in his 007 tenure and Christopher Lee's Scaramanga is one of the most interesting villains in the series. John Barry continually proves himself to be the unsung hero of the series with his score. And that ending "Goodnight? Goodnight?" "Goodnight, sir." is my favorite Moore-era ending.
