Yes, I've got the UK Region 2 version.
How is the video quality of movie, is it the same or is it better?

It's the same as the original release.
Sorry, but this is a bit confusing to me. I know I've missed a lot of discussion but would really appreciate a clarification here.
On the old versions, I'm hearing that the Region 4 is a longer cut (by how much?). If people have the new Region 2 version, is it the 'same' as the old one? Or the same as the Region 4 edit?
cheers.

Is the 3 disc version minus the DTS as I see no mention of it on the box or anywhere?

It's the same as the 2006 UK cinema and 2007 UK DVD versions.
That's really disappointing. I was hoping this release for region 1 and 2 would be the uncut version.
I've watched the original US, UK and Japanese DVD's and the Japanese disc is the best. A 3 disc collectors edition with an edited movie is not good enough.
The most obvious cuts for R1 and R2 are
US has cuts to the restroom scene. UK has cuts to the rope scene.
There are others.

Damn! That's really annoying. Someone screwed up. How much of the rope scene is cut? This is being picky, I know, but I'm a bit anal. Be good to know. I take it everyone agrees that the Japanese cut is a must-have? I'll probably get the UK one today as I can't wait for the extras.

Are talking about the cuts in the original release because the confirmation is that the R2 is not uncut but is the same as the theatrical release in the UK (that's why it did not get re-rated on the BBFC's site). However since I saw CR in U.S. theaters and it was the uncut version and the original DVD was cut down from what I saw but other people in the U.S. did see the cut down version in theaters my theory about this is that they submitted a safe cut of CR to the MPAA so it would be a gauranteed PG-13 and submitted the uncut version later which ended up passing with the same rating (since I saw this in theaters) but it was two late for this print to be delivered to all U.S. cities as well as being to late to put on the DVD (I would guess the DVD is prepared early at least the disc with the movie on it) as well so if this is the case than the R1 may have the uncut version but this is just my theory so I am probably wrong but its my hope.

Neither of the stores had it. They had the Blu Ray though, which is strange.
I had this trouble too - Woolworths stocked only the Blu-Ray edition of the film. Not only that, but it was lacking the lovely cardboard cover that the blu-ray in HMV sported. Neither WHSMITHS, Woolworths, or Tesco stocked the DVD, I only found it in HMV.

I see that dvdcompare.net list the various versions (of the original issue) and say that R4 Australia AND R2 Germany are uncut! Can we confirm this? Or is it maintained that the R3 Hong Kong is still the definitive version?
cheers
Andy
The original theatre and DVD releases for R1 AND R2 were cut(in different places). The Japanese DVD was not cut. So far, it looks like the R1 and R2 3 disc editions are the cut film.
I'm not sure why they have done this, but it could be so they can release yet another version in a years time with UNCUT written large.
I won't be buying this, despite the cool extras, because the film is cut. However good the extras are , the most important thing is that I see the movie in it's entirety. I know from watching the US and UK discs how much they lack compared to the Japanese film. The US cut of the film, in particular, suffers.

Review
I am still getting it for the special features and since the QoS movie money knocks the price down to $4.49 ($14.99-10.50)the special features are worth this and I will check to see the what cut the R1 gets because I don't know if its clear what version it is on the R1.

I have a digital copy of an R4 and I compared it to the R1 I rented, and they are not the same, being the R4 the true version for me
