I want the Blu-ray, so I need a Blu-ray player, and if I have Blu-ray I want to get the most out of it, so I'll need to buy a good HD TV. Depending on the deals I can find, I'm probably going to be spending at least $600 just because of Casino Royale.

There are six other Bond movies coming to Blu-ray too so consider it an investment in the future. :(

That'll help, the actual price ended up being twice my "at least" estimate.

I'm still a little upset, because the CE doesn't have any trailers or TV spots. I mean we're talking about a 3 disc collection; somebody said that doesn't really matters 'cause they're available on youtube, but in that case we don't need a documentary like "Becoming Bond" 'cuase it is also on the web.

And I would expected some screen test (at least the one with Craig playing the scene of FRWL), or something like the Heineken commercial with Vesper Lynd (Green)

Yes. I'm quite annoyed by the lack of TV Spots aswell, also I would love to see the tie in adds, like the Heineken, Ford, Vioh and Omega ones.

According to the product details on Circuitcity.com here is whats included with the CE: "Widescreen, with Book, Collector's Edition, 3PC, Quantum of Solace Movie Cash, Digipack Packaging, Slipsleeve Packaging, AC-3, Special Packaging, Dolby DVD."

I have no idea what the Book is referring to but I assume it is an extensive booklet and it looks like well be getting a digipack packing like the Casablanca 2-disc special edition DVD that came out in 2003 as well as a slipsleeve packaging.

The preorder price currently on Circuit city is around 21 dollars which is low for an initial preorder price since Iron Man had an initial preorder price of 23 to 24 dollars on the same site which could mean the CE could be cheaper than the Iron Man single disc DVD.

I'm hoping several outlets like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal Mart, Target, etc. will have different little promo items the way they did with the first release of CR.

Me too. The Walmart card set and Target's mini Bond on Set book were the best of that bunch. :(

I did this recently and got both a 46-inch Sony Bravia HD and Sony 350 Blu-ray for around $2,000. It's worth it.

I've had chances to pick up CR in the current Blu-ray edition but have resisted and am patiently waiting for the new one. I've been checking out the regular UEs and they play just great, making me wonder whether I even want to invest in the new ones again just yet. The excitement of the UEs is still with me. What I like most about it is that watching them on that huge screen makes it seem like you're watching them for the first time again.

There are other upcoming Blu-ray sets I want to pick up including The Godfather and Planet of the Apes first. I know, blasphemy.

The new special features (exluding the deleted scenes and the first main Ian Fleming Doco and Death in Venice) have been submitted to the BBFC and it is on their site here is the link:

BBFC link

What is disappointing about this is in my mind is that the Road to Casino Royale doco is only 25 minutes in duration which means it probably won't go into that much detail since it talks about the different versions of Casino Royale but you never know. I was hoping the first two documentaries would be around an hour but it seems the second documentary will not be but the first Ian Fleming documentary (Ian Fleming's Incredible Creation) is not on the list above as well as Death in Venice so I expect this Ian Fleming Doco to be longer like close to an hour, since it is not on the list could mean it is longer.

I ended up getting a 42" 1080p Insignia for about $900, along with an Insignia Blu-ray player for $150.

Not being an expert on the BBFC website, why is the 'Road to Casino Royale' feature listed twice on there (once with a run time and then again with "N/A")?

I've toyed with buying blu ray for this release but I can't justify the lay out for a new player only recently bought a Toshiba up scaler, I have an fairly good Beko 32" LCD and I'm not sure I'll get more out of buying Blu- Ray, it must also be multi region with the amount I've shelled out for R1 titles.

What's peoples take on Blu Ray and can I get a reasonable priced one that's multi region in the UK?

Also what's happened to the Region 2 release of CR Collectors Edition on DVD, it's all about Blu Ray on Amazon Uk & Play.com but no DVD?

I think I may get the DVD rather than the Blu Ray version. I already have the movie on Blu anyway. I'm not that bothered about seeing the special features in HD. I love the box artwork for the DVD version so i'll get that. :(

Paired with an HDTV, there is no better way to enjoy a movie in the home right now. If you are happy with your current set-up, I'd hold off until at least the holidays. Current Blu-ray disc prices continue to remain at the early adopter levels. Yes, you can find deals out there but nothing that makes me want to start buying Blu-ray discs the way I used to buy DVD's. I just rent everything &, outside of getting the Bond Blu-ray's next month, my pattern of renting everything will continue. I find the most irritating thing about Blu-ray to be, what seems to be, the constant software/firmware updates that are needed to play newer movies. Nothing impresses the ladies more than staring at a progress bar on the screen for 10 minutes while your popcorn gets cold. :(

Sorry, can't add anything on the multi-region player.

Not sure what the issue is, but there's still no listing available for it.

Keep your eyes on this article - I'll be updating it as soon as we get more info and a pre-order link.

Great trailer. I find it odd that the DVD packaging looks superior to the packaging of the "flagship format," Blu-ray.

I'm hoping this new commentary lives up to the previous Wilson/Campbell one for GoldenEye (which is probably one of the best when it comes to the Bond DVDs).

Looks cool. The problem though is that the DVD version looks to come in a digipak that looks, to put it simply, incredible. While the Blu-ray, which is what I'm planning on getting obviously, simply comes in a standard Blu-ray case. Hopefully they put it in a nice box (like the one Warners gave us for Batman Begins). But still, looks nice. This will be the third time I've bought CR, first it was DVD, then the first BD (simply cause we had it for half price at the store where I work), and now this one. Hopefully QoS gets an equally nice treatment, which I think Fox is doing, so I'm not gonna hold breathe (although we'll probably get a digital copy that'll actually work with my computer- despite ruining the cover art).

I have heard differing reports about whether the 3 disc regular DVD includes the commentary or not. Play.com lists it as being on teh DVD, and I have heard that it will not be a Bluray exclusive after all. Can anyone confirm??
