* * “Squandering Government Funds” - Probably an Extended Mathis scene

No. It's Bond and Vesper chatting as they disembark the train. More banter.

Glad to hear that then. The train sequence is probably my favourite scene in the entire film.

I'm looking forward to these deleted scenes, the cricket pavilion sequence most of all.

Indeed.

I'm really suprised no one has brought up the deleted, deleted scene "Old Boyfriend?"

Great to have the deleted scenes. I would have loved to have seen the following scenes also:

1. The extended Obanno scene at the beginning - with more Mr White banter and the relevance of the boy explained. It would make him seem even more sinister.

2. Extended Le Chiffre scenes - with a touch more Valenka swimming and the ripped card (as seen in the teaser). Not so fussed on this, but it was clearly filmed, so a montage of outtakes would have been nice.

I didn't see any trailers listed in the features - what's the deal with that? They weren't on the first release either. Casino Royale had some awesome trailers, and we're relegated to watching them on YouTube. Is there some reason they can't include them on the DVD?

Don't see why they wouldn't, personally. Seems like it'd be pretty easy to just slap 'em on it.

As for 1. was this even in the script and even if it was how do you know it was even shot, same for 2. except as explained before on this thread by Harmsway, the ripped card storyline was apparently dropped out of latter drafts of the script which means only some of it was shot and could mean just the insert of the card being ripped could be the only footage that was shot of the ripped card storyline and like mentioned before the storyline in the earlier scripts was very brief and did not really explain the storyline very well, so thats probably why it is not included.

As far as why there are no trailers and tv spots, which would have been icing on the cake for me, it could be explained by one word "SONY" because some times on second releases of movies they do not include trailers a good example of this is The Natural Directors cut which has not trailers except for upcoming Sony DVD releases and theatrical releases if the CE had been released by MGM like the original DAD 2-disc then it probably would have had trailers and TV spots however second releases of Spider-man and Spider-man 2 have trailers so this set still could have trailers if Sony thought it was too minor to mention and they could easily fit it on the disc that has the carry over special features from the first release since it was not fully packed like the new disc is going to be. I don't think we can say for sure until reviews come in on the DVD

For me it depends on which version of the movie will be present if its the PG-13 theatrical cut then I will buy (since this set will sell for the same as a single disc release of new movie, 13-16 dollars, plus minus 5 for the e-money for QoS which would be: 8-11 dollars) and if it is not then I will probably rent it.

Trailers are rapidly becoming irrelevant in SEs, simply because you can download them in HD off the web, and burn them or copy them to your PS3. Of course the CR teaser is not available in the PS store, just the trailer.

I think they're leaving some features for the Ultimate Collectors Edition. This will be released alongside Bond 23 and will be accompianied with a Collectors Edition of Quantum of Solace, and an Ultimate Collectors Edition for that will be released along side Bond 24 with a Collectors Edition of Bond 23. :(

Fantastic to hear about the deleted scenes. I'm delighted that we should be seeing some cricket in a Bond movie :(

I like the cover art better than the old cover art and I noticed the font of where it says Collectors Edition is very similar to the font on the playing cards on CR's official site. On other forums I keep hearing people already saying the R1 version is not the uncut version of the film like the original R3 was and other people saying the previous R1 DVD was cut down because it would have gotten an R rating if the R3 version was released in theaters, but I saw the R3 cut of the film when I saw CR in theaters and I remember because I read about the alternate cuts of the film and the knowledge seeing the uncut version gave me satisfaction as well as not noticing any changes to the clips I saw, including the stairwell fight, before I saw the film. And furthermore these people assume this since it doesn't say it in the press release but why would it since it was already on the R3 release and on the Australian Blu-ray and I would assume that since this is the second DVD of the film the cut of the film would be the same in all region's and this would mean the uncut version would be released especially if Martin Cambell supervised what got cut out on this DVD like he said in that interview with Hollywood Hi-def a while back. Thats why I think we won't know if its the cut down R1 or the uncut version until the DVD reviews trickle in.

Sorry, just realised I haven't really been paying attention... Is the new CASINO ROYALE release in the UK only going to be on Blu-ray?

Only drag is the regular box looks so much better than the Blu-Ray box. I'd like that regular box sitting on the shelf with my other Bond DVDs, but I want to watch the Blue-Ray. This is the hell that is my life.

I feel your pain. I just got my first Blu-ray player and look forward to it. But I also like the collector boxes.

I went a little nutty when CR first came out last year and bought the extras with the card set, the Bond on Set book and the car. About the only one I didn't get was the Circuit City collectible coin, which now seems sought after on eBay. And I've come close to buying a couple of those Wal Mart variation boxes.

Nope, it will be both DVD and Blu-ray. Still waiting for an Amazon.co.uk listing for the DVD though.

:)

So just go ahead and splurge on both like any insane Bond fan would. :(

I can see what you mean, I'm having the exact same problem. The box art for the DVD looks lovely, but... I also want the Blu Ray exclusives. :(

I want the Blu-ray, so I need a Blu-ray player, and if I have Blu-ray I want to get the most out of it, so I'll need to buy a good HD TV. Depending on the deals I can find, I'm probably going to be spending at least $600 just because of Casino Royale.

There are six other Bond movies coming to Blu-ray too so consider it an investment in the future. :(

I'm still a little upset, because the CE doesn't have any trailers or TV spots. I mean we're talking about a 3 disc collection; somebody said that doesn't really matters 'cause they're available on youtube, but in that case we don't need a documentary like "Becoming Bond" 'cuase it is also on the web.

And I would expected some screen test (at least the one with Craig playing the scene of FRWL), or something like the Heineken commercial with Vesper Lynd (Green)
