But here's my reaction: meh. Even allowing for the rubbish picture and sound quality.

Shame there are so many bits we've already seen (and a shame it isn't still a full-length trailer)
I love the way they're using footage sparingly, both trailers maintain the excitment.

Yes, true I suppose. There's a part of me that doesn't want to see any more- I'm already sold on seeing the thing and I'd be happy for as much of it to be a surprise as possible.

I think that teaser was asking for it and people were going to say it's not as good as the previous 3 but I actually think this had the potential to be the best of the sequels.
I'd never expect Crystal to top Raiders, it's virtually impossible, that film is a text book exmaple of how to make the greatest action adventure of all time and no one's taken up the challenge yet.
Serves Cubby right for not letting Spielberg direct a Bond movie he payed him back by making a better movie than any of his Bond films.
Raiders is as close to perfection as you can get in the genre, those who mentioned Die Hard, great frigging flick but it's dated, Raiders could have been made yesterday, it has none of the dodgy stereotypes of Temple or the dodgy humour and charterisations of Crusade.
If Crystal avoids those flaws of the previous 2 it should have no problem topping them and it's Spielberg and I get the idea he was itching to make a straight forward blockbuster for a while.

Agree 100%- although I'm sort of glad he didn't do a Bond; it might have meant that we didn't get Indy at all, and that would be a crime.

Hmm.. dunno about that. I don't think 'dated' is a very good reason against liking any film- Casablanca's pretty dated but it's still damned good. So's Goldfinger, actually. And Die Hard is still just as exciting and tense as it ever was. They're slightly different types of film, but I'd say they were both as near perfect examples of their genres (and to be fair, Die Hard invented its genre- Indy is a riff on the Bond formula) as you're going to get.

Don't get me wrong Love DH alongside First Blood as my fav action flicks of all time but Raiders has a timeless appeal to it and even 27 years or so it still looks awesome, you could say the end effects are questionable but I say it just flows and all those gripes about QOS looking like it's got too much action sequences, Raiders has at least 5 and none of them are poor in their execution.
Die Hard still has that ending I'm afraid,if the ending with that still impressive plunge of Gruber and a quick Mcclane gets to meet Powell would have served it that much better than Alexnader Gudunov raising from the dead just to give Powell a chance to feel comfortable firing a gun again. I'm actually surprised it's not referred to much anymore it will always be a touch of cheese on a otherwise classic movie.
If I was being picky that speech to Powell about loving his Wife and all wouldn;t have gone a miss, I'm afraid I don't see that kinda fat on Raiders, it's lean mean fighting machine.

Raiders has a couple of niggles which stop it from being absolutely perfect: why edit out Indy's explanation that closing one's eyes prevents being killed by the Ark? Stuff like that. Not big stuff, and no cheese, but just tiny little issues.

That picture gives the exact surreal, creepy vibe I was expecting. Should be a great scene.

You're right, it's lookin' hot. I switched off halfway through to protect my virgin eyes. But HF can still throw a punch and St Spielberg still has the magic. Hot dog. Thanks, Loomis.

Yup. Indiana Jones, welcome to the Cold War.This online store has just started selling pics from the movie. Take a look at THIS one. Just what in the hell do you think that scene is about!?
I haven't looked at the spoiler, but it looks like a nuclear test town to me. Fun!

good trailor...love the ark theme but the locales don't seem very exciting: New Mexico(an Indy 'pre-title' set in the USA?), Conn, and Hawaii standing in for the Amazon(QOS by comparison is far richer). Anwyay, I'm in.
True- it was nice seeing him as a master of other cultures and being in exotic locales; looks like that red line on the map is just going to be going up and down, and not even over much water!
The US makes good sense in a 50's cold war sense; might have been nice to go to Russia or something- a snowy Indy is something I'd have liked to have seen in one of the films.

I think the series screams for a snowy scenes such as Mt Ararat in Turkey where legend has it that the other lost Ark is located. That should be the next Indy quest if they go for more.

I remember this from one of the old Indy and the "Saucer Men" scripts -- by Jeffery Boam, I think?
No more looking in this thread for me. Too many spoilers. See you guys on May 23.

It's by Jeb Stuart. And KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL ultimately takes a lot from the SAUCER MEN script.I remember this from one of the old Indy and the "Saucer Men" scripts -- by Jeffery Boam, I think?
