Does it seem odd to anyone else that he'd have his classic outfit™ on during the wherehouse(inside the USA...etc.) scenes?

and what's with the strap Indy dude? Inside the coat remember?

Not in the least. It seems like a natural place for him to be wearing the gear.

Sounds bloody awful. However, I'm sure it'll play a lot better than it reads.

You think so? I thought it sounded pretty good, though I suppose it all depends on the mental projections of the description.

However, I'm sure it'll play a lot better than it reads.

That's usually how it goes with trailers.

BTW, what's with the uglification of Cate Blanchett? Yes, yes, I know she's supposed to be some kind of stern Soviet villainess, but there was surely no need to make her look like Rosa Klebb. They should have gone the Pola Ivanova route, which would have required her to simply turn up looking as stunning as she normally does. Why she was made to wear that ghastly wig is beyond me.

I couldn't be more excited about that wig and her overall appearance. I love it.

Same here- I think it's a rather fantastic cartoon look.

Hey, I think she's never looked hotter.

Loomie just does not seem a fan of the flick...Heck, i'd do her in that do. Variety!

Just to explain (in spoiler tags) what I don't like about it:

Spoiler

Agreed, but I'd hardly describe that as awful.

Spoiler

Depends on delivery. I think both could play rather well depending on context.

I admit, though, that I'm much more of a Bond, Bourne, McClane, etc. man than I am an Indy Jones man. Heck, I'm even looking forward to RAMBO more than I am to CRYSTAL SKULL (although I realise that I'm in a very tiny minority indeed on that one).

Yeah, I'm a big Indy nut. It's one of my "big three": Batman, Bond, and Dr. Jones.

Lucky you! All three in one year. 2008 will go down as a banner year for you, bud. Never in one year before, eh? Unless it was 1989...Yes, 1989...so TWICE IN A LIFETIME.

Anyway, lucky bloody Harmsway.

He's looking good in my opinion.

I hope to see Indy use his gun a bit more, considering he wouldn't really want to get into any un neeeded brawls now. They could have a scene like in Raiders, when he shoots the sword swinging master.

Yeah, I'm as happy as a clam - especially given that each entry seems like a marked improvement on its 1989 counterpart.

Couldn't agree more. One of my favourite actresses and I cannot wait to see her in this. Definitely expecting her to be one of the major highlights.

Well, it looks like Indiana Jones adventure, all right, though it definitely seems bigger than the last time out. Very epic. I'm a little unhappy with the apparent abundance of CGI in the trailer, but on the whole, it does pretty well for me.

Anyone catch that Irina Spalko's (Cate Blanchett's) glasses magnetically attach to a container marked Roswell, New Mexico?

I noticed both. The CGI is a little worrying - that race along the South American (I assume) ridge looked very fake. The Roswell hint was very obvious - I guess there is some alien connectiong there :-)

But it looks like an Indiana Jones movie!

I wonder how well Ford is going to blend with his stunt doubles... will it be his A View to a Kill?

The trailer is fine. I wouldn't worry about the CGI very much, it looks like a great old fashioned adventure film. KOTCS looks like it will be a worthy addition to the series.

Looks okay. Just okay. Contrary to expectations, the opening recap of the first three films was actually the most compelling bit. It was actually done quite well, and I liked the feeling of suspense it generated before the big reveal of the current Indy.

Trouble is, this big reveal was nothing particularly stunning. The trailer's main problem is that the action scenes look pretty run-of-the-mill-for-a-CGI-stuffed Hollywood-blockbuster. How great would it be if this trailer promised truly eye-popping, not-obviously-CGI-ridden action sequences that felt fresh and gripping (a la the African Rundown in CASINO ROYALE or the rooftop chase in THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM)? I'm not calling for ultra-realism in an Indiana Jones movie - I know full well the genre it belongs to and I don't say it should be turned into Bourne; also, I know that this is only a trailer and that the vast majority of CRYSTAL SKULL remains under wraps. However, the thrills and spills definitely seem to me more "tired" than "mindblowing".

I'm probably coming across as an old miseryguts determined to knock this film in a bid to seem more highbrow than the average Joe, but, seriously, couldn't and shouldn't this trailer have been a lot more impressive after all this time and hype?
