I found season 6 was very tired and left me regretting they'd got as far as a 6th season. I'm not saying it didn't have it's good moments, the death of curtis and Jack's final conversation with Heller were particuarly good by the show's already high standards, and the early episodes with jack so haunted after his ordeal in china were gripping. but on the whole, the 24 episodes added up to very little and all too often appeared to be going "too far"
this trailer gives me some hope that they can rein things in a little, jack seems to have returned to normality and it almost seems he's not got a particular place in the world like he once did, Tony's return looks dramatic and about as plausable as a reasurrection can be! i too get the impression his a good/bad guy, I can't see the writters bringing him back by popular demand only to have him become evil, but I like the fact he seems somewhat morally bare, almost like he is what jack could have so easily become, as the two have had very similar personal stories.

It all looks very silly, and accordingly, very enjoyable.
Yeah, baby.

I know I sound completely negative, but I'll happily admit even the worst of 24 is amongst the best stuff on TV, and I'll happily be watching until the final clock ticks over.

Will I watch season 7? Probably. Am I that excited about it? No. But hopefully it'll shake me out of my apathy.

Jack - I trusted you Tony.
Tony - Oh spare me. Jack Baur, C.T.U's loyal terrior.
Jack - You expect me to feel sorry for you?
Tony - No, I expect you to die for me. It was you who cost me my Season 6 annual paycheck Jack, failing to kill Henderson in his office when you had the chance. Well, America is about to learn the cost of betrayal, inflation adjusted for my reduced role in Season Four.

Tony - What's the matter Jack? No glib remark, no pithy comeback?

Well it seems that due to the writer's strike (and possibly Kiefer's "obligations"), 24 will not air AT ALL this season, and may not even show up until January 2009! (Though hopefully they'll air it in Sep 08).

I've heard some similar rumblings. Possibly a 10-12 episode run in the fall building on the 8 they already have in the can. Then, have another 12 episode run in the second half of the season with a completely different plot. I guess it depends on when the strike comes to an end. Fox has had a lot of success with the "non-stop season" concept over the past few years but, given the strike, the split season could work. I'm open to just about anything at this point.
Thanks for the input, Professor. Though 24 has built up an enormous bank of goodwill, the show did 'overdraw' last year, IMO, and I fear that 2 full years between airings could cost them a whole lot of viewers. They should follow Lost, which is back on track on with 8 episodes, after some bad turns last season. Let us hope.

I hope they don't mess with the non stop season formula. That is one of the biggest draws for me. I hate to go a whole year without 24, but I would rather wait till Jan 09 for a full season. Plus they have a year to tweak the story if need be.

Writers strike should end today, and work resumes on Monday (Hopefully); but it looks like we'll see Season 7 kick off in Jan 2009. DAMMIT!

Fox's 24 will produce the remaining 16 episodes of its planned season this spring, to avoid losing options on its actors, but the drama won't return till next January.
It makes sense on the production end but it doesn't make the wait until 2009 any easier. On the plus side, I thought this season had some promise from the previews I saw.

Sorry, doesn't make me feel much better. Fourth nephew - then maybe...If it makes you feel any better, one of my classmates is a fifth nephew once removed of Keifer Sutherland.
I'm really frustrated by the idea that all 24 episodes will be filmed by the summer and we'll still have to wait another half a year for them to air
