Here's hoping Jack kills her ... tortures then kills her.

RE: Garafolo.
I disagree with her politics, but you have cases of actors and actresses who havve done comedy and do great on this show. Jean Smart was a perfect example, as is Mary Lynn Rajskub, and the guy who played Keeler in Days 3 & 4 (I forgot his name). Ms. Garafolo will do just fine on the show.
Also, there will be a recurring character called Samantha.
Day 7 is still set to air in Jan, despite the halting of production.

Not much news recently. Only thing I've heard over last week or so is that the Welsh actor Peter Wingfield has been cast as "Emerson". The producers originally wanted him to play Nathanson in season five.
I remeber him from Highlander (The new Highlander movie is on tonight on SciFi!). I think he would make a wonderful 24 villain, if that is who he is going to play.

Any news on Ricky Schroeder? I thought he added some serious edge and was expecting his return...
Haven't seen anything that says he's returning. That article points out that Chloe and Buchanan will be back, but that's it. I'd like to see Rick(y) come back too, but as he was pretty much filling the Tony role, and Tony himself is now returning, there's probably no room for him. Or maybe a surprise appearance for four episodes, or something, who knows.

Tony's Back! Yes! This is so great. For me 24 was always the "Jack and Tony Show." If only we can take back the deaths of Ryan and Palmer.
Indeed.

I've been out of the loop for a while, and staggered to believe that Tony actually is returning this time. If handled well, it could be the best thing to happen to 24, but I will be sorely disappointed if he is brought back to be killed off early.
indeed.

The writers had the chance to do something truly different with this season, given the cliffhanger of the superb fifth season, but Jack was dragged back to LA for more of the same ol', same ol'. By the end, I simply wanted it to be over. I feel wrong saying this about a series I simply adore, but the season did just run out of steam in all regards.
Season 7, with a promised shot in the arm, was shaping up well, but the more I hear about it, the more I fear it may be the show's death knell. Bringing Tony back (brilliant explanation or not) is unnecessary, while the number of other returning characters is disappointing (unless they're only guest-starring). I wanted an absolute overhaul. I suppose that stems from my biggest beef with the show - its incestuous nature. Everyone has some kind of personal connection to everyone else, and it's become somewhat tiring. Still, there's definitely a chance the show can be salvaged - Season 5 did a tremendous job of breathing new life into 24 - so I have my fingers crossed!

Why do you say season 7 will be the show's death knell? The more I hear about it, the more I feel it will be the Casino Royale to Season 6's Die Another Day. We can call Tony coming back the equivalent of Judi Dench inexplicably returning as M in CR, if you like

Besides, in light of recent events, Carlos Bernard's return comes not a moment too soon...its possible that season 7 may turn out to be The Tony Almeida Show

The news the show would move to Washington was promising, but everything else I've heard (the White House storylines; the increasing amount of returning characters) indicates a shift that isn't as great as I'd hoped. I do think Tony's a great character, but bringing him back when his death was one of the most watertight the show has given us... I don't know... smells of desperation. Like when Michael Vartan was brought back on Alias.
Happy to be proven wrong, though, and I'll freely admit I'll keep watching until the final clock ticks.

With Keifer's current problems I would not mind a season of 24 with him in a diminished role. Why not have Tony take center stage? It's named 24 not "Jack Bauer" after all. It'll provide a cool shake up and give us what we all wanted, more Tony!
Jack is 24! Without Jack as the lead the show becomes much weaker- he's the focal point of everything that happens.

Given Kiefer's extra-curricular activities, we might see a scenario where Jack "goes missing" or gets kidnapped for a few hours. They've already started shooting so its still definitely going to be the Jack Bauer show, but its possible he may be taking a break for a few episodes, when it can become the Tony Hour for a few weeks

Dude, the show's name is "24" not "Jack Bauer." I think it would be great to have the show without him. Plus, taking out the main character after this many years seems a bit in keeping with those guys and their approach to the show.
