As someone who's watched the show from day dot, I feel it is, indeed, the best season. Gregory Itzin is superb as President Logan, while the storyline isn't the usual 24 schtick. Best of all, the meaningless plot thread padding is almost (but not entirely) gone. Sit back and enjoy an excellent season, Scottlee.I've just reached Season 5 (I'm about 7 episodes through it), and this is really enjoyable stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if this turns out to be my favourite of the bunch. It's certainly the best opening third of a series I've seen to date.
Just don't expect Season Six to deliver on some of the set-ups offered by Season Five's closing episodes.

I'm 14 episodes through now and still loving it. Yep this is definitely my new favourite season to date, and by quite a comfortable margin too. Some of the life-or-death situations in this season are absolutely gripping.

Let's hope LA county treats him better than the Chinese did

This could be an interesting opportunity for the show to test the waters and see what a few hours sans Bauer would be like, and if the show can stand on its own two feet without him. Kiefer is going to want out eventually, but maybe the show can live on.

No Jack, No 24. Could you do a Bond film without Bond?
The show's name is "24" not "Jack Bauer." I'm sure they could have a logical reason why he's not there and have the story work just as well. He's not the only agent in the CTU ya know.

That's true, but none of the other CTU agents are as much of a bad@$$ as Jack is!

True. But who is one of the Producers?
If Kiefer did leave, or had a reduced role, the fans would revolt.

Interesting.Haven't seen this posted yet, but I may be wrong - Isaach de Bankole (who we would know better as Obanno in CASINO ROYALE) will be appearing in this season of 24 as Ule Motobo, the former leader of a rogue African nation.
Will Season 7 feature aspects of the unused African coup plot after all?

I wouldn't mind a couple of Jack-less episodes as long as they did it right. Before Season 6 started I was kinda hoping the day would revolve around someone rescuing Jack from the Chinese prison.

Yes, definitely some aspects of a strong African storyline from what I've seen. Several casting notices seem to have been put out for actors to portray exiled African leaders, etc. Will be interesting to see how this all ties into the other storylines we've heard about.
Good move, it's time to shake things up a bit.

Season One = 8
Season Two = 25
Season Three = 14
Season Four = 27 'not out' (9 episodes to go)

Well, they almost made the Jinx film. Almost.

So it looks to me like they're blending the plots of DIE HARD 2 and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD with a wildly improbable villain thrown into the mix. Which doesn't bode well. Still, I've always enjoyed 24, and no doubt this season will be as watchable as the others.
Hmm, no mention of GOLDENEYE though? (Former good guy colleague turns traitor). I dunno, I wouldn't count on Tony being the villain; certainly this trailer makes it look that way but I have a feeling it'll be a 'Tony is doing bad things for good reasons' kind of a deal. Besides, all this footage is only from the first four or so episodes, so I think there's going to be a lot more to it than just "Tony's back and he's bad"
Wasn't Live free or die hard pretty much a 24 ripoff anyway though? I agree it looks like they lifted the 'forcing planes to crash' bit from DH2, but then again 24 has often lifted plenty of bits from Bond, notably TB, DAD, TWINE and maybe a couple of others, and used them to great effect.

Interestingly, there is no evidence of either of the plotlines that I'd heard about in that trailer. Maybe they've been got rid of, or it's a very complicated plot...

Awesome awesome awesome!!
Tony looks so badass... Really hope that Jack doesn't kill him though. Would be such a waste.

Well I think its too early in the shooting schedule for them to put together a trailer detailing the 'plot', much like the first CR trailer mostly consisted of M talking to Bond and construction site action, with no evidence that the plot revolved around Bond having to win a poker tournament! A typical 24 plot doesn't really reveal itself until about halfway through the season anyway...

Tony as a villain?! Didnt expect that. Excellent concept, cant wait to see why he is. A bit of 006 vibes there.
'Torture him if you have to' - I'm gonna enjoy this'

although they need to come up with a damn good way of tony faking his death.

cannot wait for this one!

He was shot in the head by a Russian Colonel in a gas plant...
...no, wait, that was the other thing.
It all looks very silly, and accordingly, very enjoyable.

Heh, that would explain his bald head...the chemical burns.
