Perhaps we'll someday get the full cut of the movie with some new special features.

If ever, it'll be around the time of BOND 22's release.

Seems like the most obvious choice for them.

As long as the movie is there with high quality audio then I am happy and I noticed that CR is getting a high definition transfer on the regular DVD which DAD did not get, probably the only good thing Sony gave to this DVD.

Because of the lack of special features I'm not going to pay anything close to the list price which means I'll probably buy it at Target at $15.99.

Why would anyone pay the 'list price' anyway, regardless of what is or isn't on the DVD? Best Buy/Circuit City will have it for $15 or so, and I'm betting one of them will have some kind of freebie with it (CR t-shirt/poster/Daniel Craig DNA sample, etc)

dinovelvet, your right that they will probably throw in some special deal like they did with the Ultimate Edition box set or have some sort of sale when it comes out but right know Circuit city has CR at around $24 and Best Buy at $19, but they could change when CR comes out. I'll probably go with the best deal and not the cheapest price.

I heard Best Buy will be giving away a coupon for one free touch of Daniel Craig's perfectly formed [censored]. :cooltongue:

I'm 99% sure Casino Royale will be $15.00 at Best Buy in the first week of its release. It will then go to $19.99 after the week of March 13.

Chill my people, sure, we're a little disappointed with the weak "extras" on the upcoming DVD, but I reckon they are doing a LOTR on us. Dragging our interests out over years. Once they see fantastic sales for this plain DVD, they'll (surprise!!) whip out the Gold Member version a year later with all kinds of brilliant stuff on it. And we will queue up for that w/o a second thought.

Mark my words!

So with that said, I most likely won't BUY the DVD, I'll just add it to my blockbuster queue, and when the REAL DVD comes out, I will buy that.

Yeah. We'll see it for about $15-$16 in the first week.

LOL. LOTR? That's a ridiculous analogy. First off the 3 theatrical DVDs were two disc sets and they had more features than this plus commentaries. On their own they weren't bad at all. Besides, everyone already knew about the extended editions. They never hid that. I very much doubt you'll ever see an extended cut of Casino Royale. It'd be neat, but probably won't happen.

At best, as I previously said in another post, they'll re-issue the DVD in 2008 or 2009 (timed with either Bond 22 theatrically or DVD - maybe a bundle for the latter) with more features.

The extras are okay, but why resort to the same promo featurettes that aired on ITV in Britain at the film's release? Is it me or have the films post LICENCE TO KILL had a lacklustre show on the extras front. I haven't been conned by the new Ultimate Editions and think the 'Makings Of' of the earlier DVD incarnations should be provided to GOLDENEYE, TOMORROW NEVER DIES, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH and DIE ANOTHER DAY. Promo featurettes from the time are surely a cop-out, no?

Though I must add I am never one to moan about extras. You don't buy an album and say "nice music, shame about the sleevenotes".

Well, I saw BECOMING BOND on Youtube, MTV had the video, there was a UK give-away DVD that had a BOND GIRLS... with CR girls. I've seen the movie. The only thing I haven't seen then is JAMES BOND FOR REAL. Do I want to pay the money one documentary? I guess I could rent it.

To be fair, the LOTR theatrical DVDs didn't actually have commentaries. And the featurettes were mostly based on pre-existing material. So it's a reasonable comparison from that point of view. But yeah, as has been said, they had the courtesy to announce both versions at the same time.

The thing is, this is as deliberate as a Bond double-dip has ever been. Sure, every Eon film has had at least two versions - but when the first DVD release happened it didn't feel like they were holding back. (As, in fact, the UEs proved. The additional extras being fairly minimal.)

For that reason, we're already comfortable that a second version will be put out - a wholly new experience for Bond DVD buyers. And if trends ARE being broken...well, maybe an extended cut of the film could happen, too. Sure it's fanboy optimism. Sure it's unprecedented. But so is the obvious double-dip, and indeed the CR movie itself...

The extras are okay, but why resort to the same promo featurettes that aired on ITV in Britain at the film's release? Is it me or have the films post LICENCE TO KILL had a lacklustre show on the extras front. I beg to differ - that was deliberate irony, right? :-)

But yeah, I agree. The Brosnan releases (DAD aside, as Script to Screen is a terrific doc) have really suffered from not-too-deep, off-the-peg featurettes. Though, as with, say, the Thunderball or YOLT discs, it's actually good to have an archive of how a film was marketed. It's like having the trailers. It just shouldn't be 'all'.

Its Sony - its what they do. They have done 'extended cut' second releases of xXx, Underworld, and I believe a Spider-Man 2 one is coming just in time for Spidey 3. We know deleted scenes exist - the skinny-dipping scene, and Le Chiffre tearing a card (these were in the trailer so they were definitely shot). My guess is in October 2008 there'll be a Bond bonanza - Sony will release all 21 Bond films on Blu-Ray, with a new special edition of Casino Royale.

Check out the link below!

Play.com list in the extras section the Death in Venice sequence, (30 mins) and the Bond Girls are Forever piece, (50 + mins)

Perhaps a total of 2 1/2 hours of extras. Could be better...could have been worse.

Play.com has had that info up for a while. I'm just wondering how trustworthy it is compared to some of the other reports--especially considering the DVD flyer just lists Casino Royale having 90 minutes of extras.

That's cool, I just feel that DVD has spoiled us. More often than not I see people getting upset because the DVD has no (or just a few) extras. I used to feel that way too, but I've found recently I barely watch (or listen) to any of them. So just buying the first release is good enough for me.
