Still no word on a commentary track? Disappointing.

I hate patience.

I wonder if there will be deleted scenes. That's what I want the most - there was some good material left on the cutting room floor.

"Becoming Bond" is the documentary us fans have been all been dreaming about, but only, of course, if it goes into a certain amount of detail (can't realistically hope for anything even approaching warts-and-all, obviously) about other actors who were considered, and the whole shebang of controversy and rumour both during the Bond 6 hunt and after Craig's hiring. I really hope it won't just be half an hour's worth of a potted history of Craig's career intercut with luvvyish comments from Bond bigwigs about how he was always the top choice and no one else was really looked at "after Pierce stepped down". It'd be great to see screentests, at least (I remember Cavill's getting a lot of praise from admirers here on CBn who got hold of it in 2005).

I would like to see commentary and deleted scenes... screen tests for daniel, eva, and mads, and maybe other potential actors.

Sounds great so far. Hopefully the "Becoming Bond" feature includes screentests. I also hope they include the deleted scenes. I'm also looking forward to hearing who does the commentary.

It'll be less than that. That's the listed price - DVD stores generally offer discounts. I bet Amazon will be selling it for around $22 or something like that.

I don't really want the 'warts and all' treatment...all of us in here are already very familiar with the warts surrounding CR. I don't want to see the CNB idiots commemorated with a mention on the DVD; if the documentary wants to acknowledge "the media" being negative about CR/Craig, that's fine, but let's not extend the 15 minutes of fame of them pointy heads.
As for Cavill's screentest, funnily enough I remember it getting an extremely negative reaction from those in here who had seen it (zencat in particular, I believe?), with the consensus being his young looks weren't the problem - his acting was.

Becoming Bond have been all over youtube since months. Haven't you guys seen it ?????

This is a standart no frills edition. Forget about deleted scenes, complete cut, and test screenings. We live in the corporate world. Such things are a bother to executive, who had this DVD done for months (actually, I think the final master was delivered like in time for the cinema release)

There is no room for anything amusing or fanciful. This is the first edition. Perhaps we will get some great stuff by 2017. Remember how long people waited for a good release of Titanic on DVD with the extras ? What about True Lies ? 2047 until we see the complete cut ? Executives only care about their salary, they don't give a toss about our needs. Case in point... :cooltongue:

Can't wait for the cover too!!

Amazon is always the way to go. Personally, if the seller has a high-enough rating, I'm comfortable going with the "USED - LIKE NEW" product, which you can get at another 20% off the original discounted price.

Better than that even, is one with the "opened but never played" status. I found some of those when I bought Vol. 2 and 3 of the Ultimate Editions Dvds.

You're probably right. Sadly! Sony are notorious for 'double dip' DVD releases (i.e. releasing a basic DVD with one or two featurettes, a commentary, and music video, and then later on putting out the uber-edition with hours and hours of bonus material - with extra scenes being the usual incentive). They've done this with Spider-Man, xXx, Underworld, The Grudge, and I believe a Spider-Man 2 extended version is coming out next year. They always put the super edition out right before the sequel hits theatres, so we may not see the real juicy CR extras until October 2008

Why not just buy it at a brick & mortar store? Best Buy & Circuit City often have bonuses for big movie releases, and offer the DVDs at very low prices in the first weeek; I remember when I bought DAD at Best Buy, it was about $16 and came with a free Bond girls are forever DVD!

I got my vol 2 and 3 of the UEs for $39 a piece, after shipping costs. I don't think you can find those kinds of prices at BB or CC, or even a Sam's club or Target. Plus, no driving required and you get the Christmas morning like excitement of getting a package at your door.

Most new DVDs have a list price of $29.99. If the 2-disc edition is the only version Sony makes available, you'll probably be able to find it for about $14-15 in its first week of release at a place like Circuit Sity or Best Buy.

I've spent the last two weeks going through the Ultimate Edition sets, so these extras sound pretty underwhelming so far. Here's hoping that they'll announce commentaries and deleted scenes soon. :cooltongue: At the very least, this set should be up to par with the Die Another Day SE that was released a few years ago. So I'm also hoping those documentaries are of the meatier variety as opposed to people just telling us how great everyone else is to work with.

I don't know what is in store, but what is certain is that the DVD and the extras were done around the time the movie came out in the theaters. I heard it from one of their executives... no names !

There -HAS- to be screentest included with this DVD somewhere, I've only saw the first 9mins of Becoming Bond on Youtube, and there is like a 30 second clip of screentest (if that, maybe 15 seconds?) and you can see a fight, but the camera angle is way in the distance, and other camera/crew are blocking most of the view, so you can barely see anything.

They tease us with these things, they better give them us it lol.

The extras listed do seem a bit underwhelming. I would expect this release to be at least similar to what we got with the DAD DVD. Also, with 50 gigabytes of space on those fancy Blu-Ray discs, there is plenty of room for extras :cooltongue:

Your not alone thinking that the extras sound underwhelming. To be honest I already own many of them recorded from UK TV. I was hoping for at least a Campbell/Craig commentary with some Extended or Deleted Scenes.

Of course they sound underwhelming. These are just the extras confirmed as of now. There will be plenty more and will be announced later. The DVD doesn't come out for over two months guys. :cooltongue:
