The 'Bond 22' Title...

Mondays Are Hell is just plain flat. And doesn't exude anything remotely Bondian. Titles generally are rejected for a reason A lot of Moonraker's proposed titles were god awful, and there were some relative stinkers for other Fleming works as well.

cr: moment of truth; (a whisper of love) a whisper of hate; the nature of evil
lald: valley of shadows
mr: dead reckoning
dn: night passage; killing ground; choice of weapons
yolt: the death collector; blood and thunder
then of course throw in the unused short story titles
quantum of solace", risco" "the hildebranf rarity" and "property of a lady"
some pretty slim choicessome, and most,i'll admit, are very melodramatic.
"a whisper of hate" sounds pretty flemingesque as a film title.

Risico.
The Death Collector.
Or A Whisper of Hate.
I'm sorry, but the Hildebrand Rarity sounds a bit like a Sherlock Holmes short story to me.

If they don't have a title for Bond 22 by the time of CR's release, maybe for the DVD version, they should alter it: "James Bond Will Return in NAME OF BOND 22," just for continuity's sake.

I think that they have had that particular line at the end of every Bond film so far, so I would definitely expect to see that "James Bond will return"; guess we'll have to wait and see about whether we get a title. At the very least, they should put "James Bond Will Return..." not only as a nod to the earlier films, but also to proudly announce -- This IS Bond, and he's not going away.

But it can hardly be the name of a weapon, crook or location.

Perhaps Bond is giving the go ahead to eliminate a certain person (CR script readers will know who I'm referring to) and the operation is codenamed: Risico.
I like that premise quite a bit.

How long before the movie came out or started shooting?
(sorry if someone already asked that question)

You know I actually prefer the vaguer 'James Bond will Return' to James Bond will return in...
James Bond Will Return is far more heroic and iconic than having a seven word title stuck to the end
I agree. I much prefer 'James Bond will return'. I guess it's because, being from the younger generation of Bond fans, it is what I am used to.
I'm really hoping they go with 'Risico'. It's a title that can have so many possibilites, as Risico could be the name of a villain, weapon or location. Also, since the series is returning to its roots in 'Casino Royale', it seems only right to return to the true roots of James Bond in terms of giving the next film a Fleming original title.
They could always use a chapter title. There are some good ones out there in Fleming's work.

I don't have the details for many of the movies to hand at the moment, but for the last two, the announcements of the titles differed significantly. Can anyone remember when the previous titles were announced?
How long before the movie came out or started shooting?
DIE ANOTHER DAY - announced 12th March 2002, two months into filming and a mere six months before the world premiere.
CASINO ROYALE - announced 3rd February 2005, 11 months before filming started, and 21 months before the release of the movie.
If I was to make a bold prediction now, I expect to see a title for BOND 22 in about September-October 2007.

If Bond 22 has a Fleming title, I think we'll find out when a director signs on. If it has a new title, I think we'll just know it as Bond 22 for quite a while into production.
