Seriously - that voice... ooh... oh, I wish I were gay.

As speaking voices go, second only to David Bowie.

Yeah, I said it.

I know a guy I can you could take of my back (figuratively speaking, that is). Apparently saying "I'm not gay and not interested" isn't good enough.

After a few days of absorbing the trailer into my brain, I'm not as taken with it. It just doesn't scream "back to basics Fleming Bond". And I just can't get the image of the gunbarrel taking place in the john out of my head. But it's not the movie, so I'm holding out hope.

This is all from the first half of the film. The second half will be Flemings novel, which should focus more on story. Oh and the gunbarrel taking place in the toilet isn't the point. The point is that the gunbarrels been integrated into the live action that will lead to the credits. It's the moment he earns his 00 number. At least theres nobody taking a whizz when he turns and fires!

This is all from the first half of the film.

And even then, it's not at all properly representative of it. It's fairly misleading to have nearly half of the trailer be composed of the parkour sequence (as awesome as it looks!). There's a ton more subdued, non-action moments in the first third of the film.

Ahh. Now you know what it's like to be a woman...

But the trailer is lovely, and the look at the end that I didn't like in the French version is shorter now and works much better. Bouncing about in my seat like a 6 year old :D

I've been a complete supporter of Craig up until this point, and I know the voice isn't really a big deal, but honestly his voice just took me out of it. I don't like it at all. It's definitely going to take some getting used to.

Bee-yoo-tee-full.

May have already been pointed out in the other thread (sincerest apologies if it was), but I found it ironic that the card torn up at the end of the trailer is a Five of Spades.

...Brosnan was the fifth, wasn't he?

Blimey.

Whilst I suspect that might be reading a little too much into it, it's funny.

After hearing Dench's voice I'm glad they kept her for the part. (Recasting Dench was the only issue I had with the whole CR package.) I never bought the tension between Pierce's playboy Bond and the evil queen of numbers...

But a badass renegade Craig Bond and a scowling Dench makes complete sense to me!

AMEN!!!

I actually think the dynamic between Bond and M works better if M is a woman. Also, did you know that in letters home as a boy (and a man), well before he ever created 007 Ian Fleming always called his mother 'M'? It's true.

Personally, I think the Craig's scenes with Dench are going to be better than Brosnan's.

Just watched the English trailer with sound on another PC (My PC speakers are bust). Can't believe how much Craig sounds like Timothy Dalton. Is anyone else worried that this will put off a lot of people who did'nt like Dalton's serious interpretation of the character?

Hmmm. Not sure about that. Of those I've shown the trailer, British (including myself) don't hear any similarity with Dalton's voice, other than that the accent is English. My American flatmate thinks it's similar, but then she can't hear the difference between English and Australian accents, or Scottish and Irish. I think he has a great voice, as different from TD's as it is from PB's and all the others.

This is a joyous moment - the first official unveiling of Casino Royale media.

I haven't felt this excited since I saw DAD's teaser in very early 2002. and what a bit of a letdown the film was...

Only 6 and a half months remaining... and Bond is back... for good.

The clock is ticking.

I think he does sound a bit like Dalton - but the idea that anyone but hardcore fans is going to notice that seems unlikely. I also think the timing is right for a grittier more Dalton-like Bond. Dalton took the role under a cloud, because the audience was primed for Brosnan. In the last few years, I've heard loads of people slagging off DAD's invisible car, crap CGI and silly plot and asking why can't they go back to the style of the old Connery films, get some grit, bring in some spying, have a decent script, proper suspense, etc. I think the Bourne films tapped into the audience's hunger for that, and I think non-Bond fans will embrace this Bond in a way they never did with Dalton.

As teaser trailers go this is as good as any out there at present. It does demonstrate that Craig is the most ruthless looking Bond since Connery, and the most physically able Bond since Lazenby. Obviously the filmmakers want to show there is plenty of action because that sells, but it also shows many of the classic aspects from Bond films. The trailer does show Craig doing some "Bourne-style" close combat, but the action set pieces and glamourous locals and people should demonstrate this is not a Bourne rip-off as many had feared. It also shows there is real stunt work rather than CGI, which many Bond fans wanted. The final shot does look tacked on. I suspect they haven't got too many Casino interior shots ready yet. Personally I like the final Craig shot and don't think he needed to say any cheesy line to make it work.

For those of you that are worried it's going to be another OTT action fest, well, don't worry. Most of the action takes place in the first half and even then there are moments of pure coolness that someone like Ethan Hunt or Jason Bourne could never hope to achieve. I read the script last night and after seeing the english trailer I have complete confidence this will be the best Bond film ever, without a doubt.

I kind of preferred it in French - seemed much more exotic and mysterious. Judi Dench delivering DADworthy dialogue about blunt instruments doesn't come close to being as sophisticated and atmospheric as "Judi Dench" murmuring some stuff in French, which language suits the moody black-and-white stuff right down to the ground! :D

Yes, I agree. Although the French chap's voice could have been deeper and a little slower.

It's just a shame about some of the terrible, cheesy dialogue in this film. I'm not referring to what was said in the trailer, but in the torture scene and a few other places from the script. Cringe inducing! It certainly depletes some of my excitement for this movie.

You want him to say "Bond, James Bond" at the end. You really want him to say it. He doesn't. You have to go to the film to see if he can do it...

This is amazing, through this "Teaser Trailer" Daniel Craig has been confirmed as THE perfect & natural choice as the new James Bond. As Mick Jagger sang 32 years ago... "I like it, I like it, yes I do!"

Hi all, fantasstic teaser trailer i agree.

i've just noticed something, which is no big deal really.
If you look carrefully, frame by frame (better with the 40Mo quicktime version), you'll see, during the last sequence when the camera is approaching Bond, written on the green table "Casino Royale".

voila, just wanted to share this.
