Upon comparing the released French trailer and the English trailer, I noticed that when Bond has his arm scanned by that machine (French trailer)you see a wound on his arm below his wrist watch. But on the English trailer it isn't there. It could be nothing, but enough for me to bring it to peeps attention!

Dont to want to sound pesimist or grumpy and -make no mistake- I love the trailer as much as everyone in these forums BUT I would like to ask how much do you think our enthusiasm is a result of our confidence about this film and not just because its simply the new Bond film which we would go nuts about anyway?

I m not implying that the trailer doesnt support that enthusiasm, but, having read a lot of the posts nad conclusions during the past days, are you all sure we dont get carried over reading a little more into it than we should? Thanks.

Finally was able to download the english version.

Expected that since I had already watched the French version a gazillion times that the English version wouldn't be that exciting for me...

Golly-Bob Howdy, was I wrong...

Awesome!!

How many days until Nov 17?...

For me, it's about my confidences in this movie. It you remember I wasn't happy about how this whole thing began. But, as of late. I have been moved in a way, that I have never been before. I feel that this movie with be big and bold. I'm really looking forward to seeing Casino Royale.

I didn't like it at first. But I am enjoying it more and more.

I'm just concerned the public will be turned off at the change in direction from the Brosnan era. It has a somewhat dirty, grainy look that might keep the public away, like License to Kill did...

Yes, thats true, but I think with the nature of the films that the public has recently been fascinated with (Bourne, M:I) I think that CR will fit in very well with the public opinion

Other thing is, the men's room scene is an obvious lift of TRUE LIES... It's good to steal from the best, but I thought this Bond was supposed to be more original than ripping off 12 years old Bond rip-offs

How is it a ripoff of True Lies? That was not the first movie to feature a fight scene in a bathroom. You may recall the pre-title sequence of GOLDFINGER, for example.

The Eva Green fan in me loves this trailer -- Mmmmmmm....

Yes, I am looking forward to this movie, not sure about this Craig chap though, but as long as there's plenty of Eva Green in the movie:

My gripes:

That, how to put it? Chocolate box (if that's the correct term) style of photography that also marred GOLDENEYE (during the beach scene between Bond and Natalya), particularly evident in the shots of Eva Green getting out of the water. A bit naff.

That weird and self-consciously "this is really cool.... no, really" shot of the Aston Martin, where it looks as though the camera tripod was doing a Leaning Tower of Pisa thing.

Everything moving too fast. If Sebastien Foucan is going to be going at that speed in the final print, he's going to look like Spiderman.

Sorry, I know I'm being a whingeing fanboy of the worst kind.

I'm fully behind this film but I have to say I agree with you here. The way everything is shot just doesn't look special, some of it looks very generic. My feeling is that 9 out of 10 films end up being as good as their director, and Martin Campbell... well, lets just say I was always hoping for someone like Christopher Nolan to have a go (and that isn't just because of Batman Begins, he is a big Bond fan and would really bring something new to the franchise). I really like this trailer, but I was hoping for a bit more sophistication and drama rather than all the crashbangwallop...

But then again, maybe I ask too much. If an average director brings his A-game to the film, and the script is as good as people around here have been saying, and Craig lives up to his promise, then theres every reason to be very optimistic!

And I love the bit with the crane!

I'd say True Lies was eeriely similar to Get Carter. Oh, and like everyone else I think the trailer is stunning and a good sign of things to come.

Some cool teaser pics from todays (04/05/06) Daily Mirror on page 3. No new shots but they seem to be more positive about Craig now.

I've been one whose been complaining ever since Craig was hired that he would be terrible- Now I can see I've never been more wrong! This is going to be [censored]ing awesome!!! Now the question is when will this be in theatres- this weekend with Mission: Impossible III or two weeks later with Da Vinci Code? But such a awesome trailer. Now, I can't wait until Nov. 17!

To be honest. I liked it. I liked it alot. And while not sold on Craig as Bond (I frankly don't think that will ever happen)--I would rather root for Craig than Tom Cruise. He looks more real. In all it looks like a fun movie and it will certainly appeal to the teenage boys who made the Transporter films such a smash. I am really glad that they took my advice and let Craig do his thing...instead of trying to mimmick the five other actors. It just wouldn't work and he would end up making a pratt of himself.

Yep. One has to have some sharp little eyes, but it's in there.
Backdrop in the knife scene, just a glimpse of two frames or so.

OMG! *falls over in a dead faint*

Having regained consciousness, here's what I think of Bond's line: it's ironic. One of those little lines that occasionally show up in the Bond films that comment on the franchise itself. Craig saying that Bond is back, and he is Bond. I hope that made sense.

It looks great in hi-res. I can't wait to see it on a big screen, and I can't wait until November.

I just want to say that this trailer was pretty damn cool. I've been wanting a "serious" take on James Bond for years. I love all of the Bond movies, but the films have always seemed to fit in with the changing times in which they were released. I think the time is right for a Bond film that takes the character seriously and puts him back in the style in which he was originally created. I was pretty dissapointed at the strong negative reaction Daniel Craig got when he was announced. Fans have been complaining for years that the franchise has gotten stale. So what happens when the producers make a bold, unexpected choice? People start to whine. I'm not saying you can put the debate to rest based on this short trailer. It still remains to be seen if this film will truly be the start of great new direction for the serious. But it certainly is encouraging. I can't wait to see this movie.

Watched it 21 times and counting...

This is truly going to be a great year for spy films. M:i-III, and now this! Now I'm not one of the many who hated Die Another Day, but my first impression is that Casino Royale will make it look mild in comparison.

Daniel Craig looks great as 007.

It is brilliant :( [censored]
A couple of things about it intriuge me though
1. Judi Dench is in it which makes it look post-DAD
2. In the english version Dame Judi mentions promoting Bond?

I can't wait to see it but i willl have to wait till December  :D :D :D

Why is this even a question? Of course she's promoting Bond, he's just earned his double-O status.

Guys went to see MI3 at the Odeon Leicester square and got to see the teaser for CR on the large screen! I must say that the music again sounded different! The french version was fast with lots of beat, the english online version was strong on the guitar and slower and now the cinema version felt different again! I dont know its probably got to do with soundsystems and my pc sound card but it definitely felt different in the film theatre

So am i the only one to see the trailer on the large screen???

They did a good job with the trailer. I liked the darker and more dramatic feel. Especially during the assasination scene.

My 2 big gripes on the trailer, or I guess upcoming film is.....what the hell did they do with his hair? They should have had it like the way it was at the press conference and 1st PR shoot. It was more suave, in the trailer it looks like a bad haircut.

My other gripe is that Judi Dench doesn't really fit in it IMO. Too used to seeing her in the lighter side with the Brosnan films. Also, if it's a "reboot", why use her? Doesn't make sense to me.

Because she's not the part of the series that seems old and tired. As I've said in another thread, if Bond has a woman for his superior it makes for a richer dynamic between the characters. This is obvious to most people watching the movies. I expect it will be even more pronounced between Craig and Dench than it was with Brosnan.

It's true that:

1. Bond had a male superior in the books and movies initially.

2. His missions were often against or concerned Soviet spies.

3. He smoked 70 cigarettes a day.

4. His CIA contact was Felix Leiter, a laid back Texan with blonde hair.

5. The women characters had occasionally ludicrous names and were a bit two-dimensional.

All those aspects reflect the times the books were written and the first movies were made: The 1950s and 1960s. Guess what? It's the 21st century now. For the Bond movies to engage the audiences of TODAY, they have to reflect what's going on TODAY.

It's not as if Fleming chose not to make M a woman as a mere creative choice. At the time it was written it would have been completely unrealistic to do otherwise. Ditto making Felix Leiter anything other than white, or Bond a non-smoker.

As it stands right now, the James Bond films were at their creative and stylish peak in the 1960s. There's no reason it has to remain that way though. With the resources available, EON (and we) should expect to have the best, most creative, stylish and intensely satisfying Bond movies to be made NOW. Movies with more inventive plots, deeper characters, more thrilling action sequences, and compulsively quotable dialogue.

That can't ever happen though if the filmmakers and filmgoers cling to a foolish consistency. EON stands Everything Or Nothing. I hope with CASINO ROYALE that for once they're living up to their name and risk it all for something incredible.

I'm sorry for going on so long.
