Not sure if it's been posted yet (apologies if it has), but here're reviews of the first two box sets from IGN:

James Bond Collection Volume 1 - Review

James Bond Collection Volume 2 - Review

...um, wow.

And IGN are usually pretty finicky when it comes to Double Dips.

Finished Thunderball. Wow. It looks great for a film that old.

I'm enjoying the new cuts for some of these. There were a few parts of Thunderball tacked on that I don't remember being there before.

Interesting review even though the reviewer got the year of the special edition releases wrong by over a couple of years. The special editions were released on October 19, 1999 through to Oct. 2000.

Well, I got my set today, only Vol. 1- I watched Goldfinger and....

Wowza. I'm not really good at judging a picture's quality unless it's really bad. But this was AMAZING! The special features and the menus are pretty cool as well. The extras disc has a casino-flavored background. It's quite interesting. Can't wait till I get Vol. 2, though none of my favorite films are in it.(What's in it again?) But Vol. 3 and 4 look good.

Longest. Post. Ever.

EDIT: I can't typee.

They repackaged them in 2002 though. Someone gave me set 1 (shown in that picture) when they were released. I double checked and the set is even copyrighted 2002. So technically that was the last year they were released even though it was the same song and dance.

It's true that they were repackaged in 2002.

But the reviews statement that the Special Edition DVDs were "originally released October 22, 2002" is blatently incorrect. They were originally released in 1999 and 2000.

Finished watching Thunderball (excellent remaster, but lacks lots of the colors of the original, boost your color command), and YOLT, which is an abomination. No noise, perfect images, but the colors are way out there, bland, almost monochrome, while the original DVD is vibrant. Inexplicably, the blue sky of HK after the opening credits, is now green. Stevie Wonder must have been at the color correction wheel... Nice extras thought

Well, Thunderball is good, but I can wait until I get money. I'll get at least Vol. 3 , maybe 4 for Chanukah. But I really love the transfers on Vol. 1!!

My only quibble is that the Ministry of Propaganda section is nowhere to be found on the DAD disc. Guess I'll hang onto my original copy.

Yes, this is a big error, as the package clearly states that the bonus dvd should have all those materials from the original dvd release. And I've already got rid of my old DAD dvd. :)

Is that pretty standard for Deep Discount? If so, I might have to get sets 3 and 4 that way. :)

Well, you can't use them for pre-orders, so it won't work for Vol 3 and 4. Also, keep in mind that since the sets are still in their first week of release that they are extra cheap right now. I'm sure after Saturday the price will go up a little bit...

Just looking for sympathy here...but when I returned from a business trip hoping to find that my UE 1 and 2 had been delivered......it seems someone stole them from the front of my house! :) They arrived a day earlier than I thought they would, and my wife was out of town as well. Someone just helped themselves. How FRUSTRATING!!

But here's to Amazon: when I called and told them what happened, they offered free replacements. :P I was a loyal customer before, but even more now.

I meant I would wait until December 12 and then buy them if they would be that much cheaper, not that I expected to get that price on pre-order.

I got the Region 1 and I'm very disappointed, the book is seperate from the dvd itself. Very disappointed indeed. The picture and the sound is great however.

Frustrating indeed. That would have made me furious.

Glad to hear it worked out in the end for you though.

I want to know if anyone had this problem, I got my the first box set Tuesday and got back to school and opened, and I had two copies of The World Is Not Enough, didnt include Goldfinger, but I was able to take it back and then I made sure I opened it before I left and there was another one with two copies of the TWINE, but the Third was a charm. BUt anyway Has anyone watched the Happy Anniversary 007, the titles of it look so cheap but does anyone notice that Moore seems to look younger in this than he did in A View To A Kill.

So I decided to bite the bullet and I bought both sets today. Haven't watched them yet, I'm about too. I'm perfectly happy with the packaging but I have a problem. My cover for TMWTGG is torn, a portion of the front cover is gone, completely torn out.

Who would I contact about getting a replacement cover?

If it really bothers you then you should exchange the whole set for another one.

If I could describe the Goldfinger DVD in one word it would be this:

OHMYGODTHISISTHEBESTTRANSFERIHAVEEVERSEEN!

The image is absolutely flawless. The audio just rocked my world and the menu is the best I have ever seen. Period. I had only intended to watch just the pre-credits and title sequence of Goldfinger but the image was so perfect I could stop it.

I'm in Bond heaven.

I watched it tonight. It's about 50 minutes long, with about 40 of those pretty much just being clips from the films. Nothing that casual Bond fans probably don't already know, but fun enough for what it is. Moore looked the same to me as he did in A View to a Kill.
