Yes, the sides are a solid sheet of plastic. If by standing on end you mean having them stand upright like any DVD would be on a shelf I tried it and it works just fine.

I'll be getting mine from Circuit City most likely. They seem to have a pretty solid deal on them.

I ordered mine from Deep Discount DVD for $58.39 each plus the free shipping. I'm purty 'cited. But, I still think those covers are awful.

So here's the solution I came up with to display my out of order, slim case Bonds starting Tuesday.

A $7.99 stand from Target. In the picture you'll see 18 slim cases I had from my "Millennium" TV sets. After the 20 Bond slim cases go in there (in proper order) that will leave room for 5 more movies, be they slim case, regular case, Blu-ray, holographic crystal, or whatever else they come up with by then. It's only 12 inces high if you're wondering...

Very nice.

For those sitting on the fence, that review does seem to be overwhelmingly positive. Nearly everything for the five stars. I think if the packaging was reviewew as well then it could have brought the rating down.

Just noticed that the Octopussy DVD has footage from James Brolin's Bond screentest. This should be interesting. Has anyone seen it? What were your impressions of Brolin?

Let's just say I'm glad Roger signed for his sixth... :)

Brolin's screentests have been on the SE DVD since 2000.

That's where I'll be picking mine up tomorrow, so hopefully my Best Buy has the same (or a similar) deal.

Don't think they were on the Region 2 versions, were they? It's a while since I watched OP on DVD (much as I like it) and even longer since I accessed the special features. But these screen tests were new to me on the UE.

They were included as part of the INSIDE OCTOPUSSY documentary. Though, judging by the more extensive Goldfinger tests on the UE DVD, they are probably more extensive on the OCTOPUSSY UE.

I'll say!

I'm picking mine up from Best Buy between leaving work and voting. I'd like to wait until the weekend to watch, but I really don't see that happening!

my best buy has a good deal buy both sets for 100$ and get a scene it dvd.

WARNING: The fine print on the Best Buy ad says there's a minimum of 10 of the Scene It discs per store with no rain checks when they run out. Although I'm not sure whether a lot of people will be clamoring for this, if you really want it as a bonus you may want to get there early to pick it up.

I plan on skipping out of work a few minutes to pick up mine. :)

OK well while we're on the subject, can anyone clarify what exactly a Scene It disc is/does?

They won't run out. Best Buy always has a large stock of the brand new releases.

I think it's either a commercial for the game or an actual disc that you should have the board for. Without a board and cards, you can still play the Party Play mode but that can get boring.

I would like to think it's the new version of the game but the cover shows Connery through Brosnan so I'm not sure...

Anyone know what is Costco's price going to be for the box set, for me it either Circuit City or Costco, so in order to choose one of the two I have to know Costco's price. If Costco is ording it in, it not listed at their site.

OK I bought the whole lot, and watched the first three. Definetly get those, they are the better versions out there (Dr No, Goldfinger, FRWL), however, there is a color saturation problem on Thunderball and YOLT, they look totally washed out, almost monochrome. You can make it up on TD by boosting the color on your tv set, but YOLT done the same way is just awful. The skintones aren't right, and all the flamboyance is lost.
Anyone noticed ?
