I don't believe these have been shown off yet. So here we go. If they have.. well sorry, I'm late, I guess.
Made some (huge) comparison images:
Dr. No
Goldfinger
The difference is stunning, really.

Screens of the menus and specific shots from scenes can be seen here:

Is it bad that I'm literally salivating at the sight of those screen caps....and it appears there are more special featurs to The Spy Who Loved Me than was previously announced.

Am I the only one who thinks the old edition of Thunderball looks better in those sceen caps? The bottom images look washed out, with much less color (especially the shots of Largo at the casino and Bond on the beach).
I agree. The flesh tones have a lot less red. But grain has been reduced in most shots.
Dr No & FRWL look much improved in the comparison shots though. GF & Tball less so in the shots they've used, IMHO - I'll wait to see the entire films though.
From what I understand about the Lowry Digital process - it is scanning it in frame by frame and cleaning it up - in some cases using a sharpening process ala Photoshop.
That process isn't perfect - while it does clean up scratches and dirt, etc - it can also make things look a little strange. Apparently their earlier efforts, like Citizen Kane - did not turn out that well, they were too sharp.
The problem too is that if the print that Lowry gets doesn't have the best color - then no amount of digital trickery is going to improve it.
Here is an article about how the process worked for Star Wars:

Yeah, that was my first reaction too: everyone has nice tans in the Special Edition, and seem to be spending too much time indoors in the Ultimate Edition. But if you look at one of those UE shots on it's own, without comparing it to the SE shot, it looks okay. I think I even like the beach shot better with the whiter sand.
The rest of the shots from the four films do look better in the UE examples, especially Dr No., and an improved Dr No. alone makes this whole thing a worthwhile venture, IMO. That will probably be the first disc I check out when I get mine.
I liked the SE menues better though. More colorful and imaginative.

Anyone ever seen any of these?
Also could some of those mysterious photos (eg Dalton wearing a fishermans hat and brooding with a bottle of smirnoff) actually be stills from some of these deleted scenes?

I wasn't going to bother with this set however all those LTK deleted scenes have caught my attention.
Anyone ever seen any of these?

The "fisherman's hat" scene and the "Smirnoff" scene are both on the DVD, I think.
I don't think they've ever been released for public consumption, though a few fans close to EON might have.
There is of course the extra scene on the trailer of Bond and Pam entering the casino which does not make in into the movie as well.

What I want to know is what are the odds Casino Royale will have the same menus and match the UE. Or will Sony go all Die Another Day on us.
Still the release looms nearer so thats always good

I guess I fall into the small category that like these menus better than the SE's.

If I recall (for Die Another Day), they at least made the Region 2 release so that the box art would fit uniformly with the other Bond films.

You are not alone. Still its been seven years since the special editions were released on DVD so it may be just the thought of getting something fresh.

I am in agreement with you on that point, but then the The World is not Enough DVD release came out while the special editions were being released and it fit with the design of the SE's.
The Die Another Day DVD release was not until four years after the release of the SE's so it's hardly surprising that it was slightly different.

Can someone clear up, with insider knowledge, whether LTK is uncut. I read on MI6 a while back that it was.
For the record the menus do look lazy and not a patch on the SE ones. I'm only planning on buying the ones that have been extended.

The thing that really grinds my gears about the DAD DVD is the fact that when the Region 4 SE box set was released they had a space extra specifically for DAD. The placeholder DVD even matched the other 19 DVDs... then they go release that Ice-laden DVD cover that sticks out like a sore thumb to complete the set. NSNA's menus and DVD (at least the spine and back cover) match the SE's so why doesnt DAD?
I would like to know though since all the Menus look the same does that mean they'll have the same music behind them?
