I also think the poster's pretty bold in how it echoes 9/11. Hardly a direct copy, mind you, but that was one of the first things my mind went to.

Mine too.
It still sounds like it's going to be a bit of a trial to sit through but their marketing is certainly very striking.

I have to say, I don't get the complaints over the running time. As Loomis said in another thread, "It's not how long a movie is, it's how long a movie feels."It still sounds like it's going to be a bit of a trial to sit through but their marketing is certainly very striking.

As one who was a lot less blown away by BATMAN BEGINS than I believe Jim was (on its theatrical release, I seem to recall his proclaiming it "a very thoughtful film", or something like that), I'm strangely excited by the news that THE DARK KNIGHT has an epic running time. It suggests, well, an epic, which is a word that brings to mind great films like EUREKA, THE LAST EMPEROR, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and so on and so forth.
(Of course, there are also plenty of two-and-a-half-hour-plus flicks that are simply overlong bores, but let's not worry about that for the moment, eh?)
Obviously, if TDK turns out to be merely BB Only Longer, I'll be "well disappointed", but I'm expecting something darker, meatier and more character-driven, the EMPIRE to BB's STAR WARS (a film I refuse to call A NEW HOPE, because what I saw as a kid back in the days of horse-drawn carriages was called STAR WARS, plain and simple).

The other one with the Dark Knight doesn't do much for me, but I don't see why you're going on about this one, especially commenting on how cheap it looks. The photo manipulation on this latest poster is really impressive and quite detailed (moreso than anything from the Joker posters), and it has a really terrific, striking concept. The two featuring the Dark Knight look like they were whipped up in ten minutes.

I've praised every inch of this film since I criticized the new suit (which I now like) and ugly Batcycle (which I still hate) so I think I'm entitled to dislike this poster. It's a great poster that lives up to the posters for Batman Begins, however, I wasn't impressed with those either. Both Batman Returns posters are movie posters. The other one with the Dark Knight doesn't do much for me, but I don't see why you're going on about this one, especially commenting on how cheap it looks. Sure you are. I was just challenging your reasoning... not your emotional reaction.I've praised every inch of this film since I criticized the new suit (which I now like) and ugly Batcycle (which I still hate) so I think I'm entitled to dislike this poster.
I like them, but I think they're somewhat forgettable. Both Batman Returns posters are movie posters.

Still fond of the 'Why So Serious' design a bit more, but nonetheless...

Yeah, my money's on the new trailer that debuted just last week. This new one focuses more on the Dent/Rachel/Bruce love triangle. That poster is not what I was expecting but I love the look of it. Anyone know what the countdown on the page linking to the poster is about? Now it says "Three Days." Maybe another trailer?

Great news if that's what this countdown is referring to!

It's a personal thing - I have come to dislike having to sit in a cinema with a lot of restless infants and disruptive teenagers and mobile phones and (continues like this for several minutes of old fartery). Anything over two hours of that, regardless of what's up there in front of me, is unutterably vile. I expect one of the few times I will go to the cinema this year will be Quantum of Solace. I did like Batman Begins, though, so I'm not totally averse to a bit of Bat and will therefore catch it later - although I do wonder about those who would mythologise a comic book.

I don't get it, aren't cinemas in your country phone line proof (ie cell network doesn't work in cinemas) ? In france it's mostly that way and it's great, no one can use their phone inside the theater hahaha
No. Not the one I go to.
Time to emigrate.

They do. Especially films like THE DARK KNIGHT and INDIANA JONES and QUANTUM OF SOLACE... all that blockbuster fare.I'd say that a lot of films benefit from a big screen viewing, though.

I'd say that a lot of films benefit from a big screen viewing, though. I loved RAMBO when I saw it at the cinema, indeed it was probably the greatest cinemagoing experience of my life.... but I suspect that it'll seem an extremely thin affair on the small screen.
LOL When is that DVD coming out?

Erm, I wasn't joking when I said that RAMBO was probably the greatest cinemagoing experience of my life.

As ever, though, us limeys are being stiffed on the Rambo experience, with the Brit DVD not coming out till late June, if I'm not mistaken.
