If anyone wants to see the Prologue, send me an e-mail at [email protected]

It's a bootleg, but it's good quality and is one badass scene.

You won't be sorry :D

Not to minimize a tragedy, but was the Joker to be a recurring character in the Batman series?

Yes. He was.

I've been avoiding any kind of spoilers for the Dark Knight. Guess they'll have to somehow make due.

Stay off drugs, kids. It so ain't worth it.

There's no confirmation yet that it was drugs.

I don't know what they'll do. Ledger's death is going to cast a big shadow over THE DARK KNIGHT, especially since this film was poised to be his big role.

I'll still confirm that they ain't worth it.

Now... Dark Knight IS finished filming, correct?

Very true. But I'd rather not condemn him for that until it's confirmed.

A bit like Bruce Lee with Enter the Dragon, eh?

Yeah, this film just became a little bit creepy! Taking a wild guess that The Joker gets killed at the end, that could be uncomfortable viewing for many. Kind of like The Crow, except Brandon Lee gets killed at the beginning, then comes back to life

Its going to be interesting to see how the marketing goes on from here; everything so far has been showing off how "dark" the film is. Well they wanted dark, and now they've REALLY got dark. No doubt they were preparing more creepy Joker viral marketing stunts. How are they going to handle that stuff now?

Deaths shadow this project. First the cameraman and now one of the main players. Mr. Joker himself.

It'll sure going to be a little weird to watch and judge this movie.

Rest in Peace

It will increase its popularity even more, I am sure. I think people will want to see it, who aren't necessarily Batman fans but may be Heath Leadger fans, or just out of a kind of morbid curiosity. The same way that The Crow continues to collect fans 17 years on.

I've got to say, I was not interested much in seeing The Dark Knight (there are several posts from me in this thread saying so). But now? I probably will! You're right Dave, the morbid curiosity factor has got me into it.

BTW I wonder if they had a Superbowl ad planned for this movie? Maybe it'll be scrapped or re-worked.

Me too. I will have to watch Batman Begins first though. When is the Superbowl again, February something?

I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Brothers pulls the "Why So Serious?" posters. They're just too disturbing at the moment.

Yep; they'll probably start emphasizing Aaron Eckhardt as Two-Face now, just to get the focus off of Heath Ledger's untimely death...

Interesting point, Gobi. I hadn't thought about those posters. I am curious to see how this will shape the marketing blitz leading up to the movie - especially the usual press junket interviews.

Terrible, unexpected news. I think that they will turn away from the Joker aspect of the film now. It will be sad to watch the film knowing Ledger is no longer with us.

I wonder if they will do that. You could argue they shouldn't change anything, so that it becomes a tribute to Ledger.

At this point, it would be an insult to Ledger to alter much of his performance in TDK; I mean he worked so hard on being convincing in the role. Being the professional that he was, I don't think he would want that.

With all due respect, the show must go on...

I remember that Oliver Reed died during the filming of Gladiator.

I also remember that Roy Kinnear died during the filming of the third Musketeers movie, and Richard Lester never directed another movie after that.

Both times extra scenes had to be filmed where they had look-a-likes involved.

Good point. It will be interesting to see what they do. I think that Ledger's portrayal will be the definitive performance as well.

I would hope that if a Batman 3 is made, which I hope very much it is, that toward the end of the film a reference is made to the Joker. Something like that he has escaped Arkham, with Heath's Joker still alive and up to his antics in that universe.

I wonder how this will affect TDK boxoffice. One one hand, as people have stated, it might draw some people who might otherwise not see the film. On the other hand, it will be difficult for most people to watch it and not think about Heath Ledger and be somewhat sad, that could effect people going to see it multiple times.

Of course the saddest part is Heath left a 2 year old child behind and that is much more important than box office numbers.
