Th novelisations are part of the Bond film universe and not the Bond novel universe. Some things carry over but there are more differences than similarities. When does the LTK novelisation take place if it is a part of the novel universe. I guess it is because Gardner mentions Felix other shark accident but who is this new Milton Krest. does it stand something about him if he is a relative or so of the original Milton in The Hildebrand Rarity. Hell, I start a new thread in the Gardner boards about this!

If you think about it, wouldn't Bond be in his 70s or 80s by now? I think half the fun of the Bond movies is to not think too deeply about it.How exactly would they bring back Felix Lieter? Didn't he lose his legs?
I stick with my choice of Luke Wilson.

Old and grizzled?Gary Busey should play Felix. They need someone who should look old, grizzled, and been through a lot of crap.
The best Felix Leiters were ones you could identify with Bond. Jack Lord's and Rik Van Nutter's.

Two points.
First, considering Felix is slightly older than Bond, my first pick, maybe a random one, is Ed Harris. If they wanted to play up the Texan angle (which would be weird as it was never done on screen), I gotta go with good ol' Sam Elliott

Second, regarding bringing back Felix after the shark damage, I believe he returned for numerous novels after being maimed in only the second one. And with modern prosthetics, he would probably be very, very capable.

You are correct. Just look at the Raymond Benson novels.Second, regarding bringing back Felix after the shark damage, I believe he returned for numerous novels after being maimed in only the second one. And with modern prosthetics, he would probably be very, very capable.

In any case, I don't understand why they haven't brought back Felix. The hardcore fans love him (when done well), and surely the producers aren't keeping him back because 'Felix' is an old fashioned name.
I sincerely hope that with the possibility of Casino Royale, they might rightfully include him.

In the case of that character it is.2 films is considered long?We had Jack Wade for so long. It's possible with Casino Royale though.

Not in that sense. We've had the Wade era more recently than the Leiter one.2 films is considered long?We had Jack Wade for so long. It's possible with Casino Royale though.

i think anthony michael hall would be a good felix, he fits the book description fairly well. bruce campbell would also be a good choice.

I can't see them doing so if we don't get Casino Royale. With Goldeneye, they introduce some new players, then would have been the time to get Felix again.they need to bring felix back, he has been gone for four movies which is not as bad as the six movies he was absent from between live and let die and the living daylights (even though he was in nsna)

I know, many fans who see the new films either care enough to see the older ones, too (they dang well should), or they don't care enough about Bond to know who Felix is at all, but I still wonder how gracefully the producers/writers could allow Felix his triumphant peg-legged return.

You could say the same thing about The Living Daylights. Felix had not been onscreen since 1973 and all of a sudden he shows up in 1987 in what can only be called a cameo. No real explanation as to who he is, except that he works for the CIA. We (that is the people who are not the hardcore fans that "WE" are) don't even know that he's a friend of Bond's.I hope to goodness they will rightfully bring him back if the next film is CR, but the one thing that I worry about is how they would reintroduce him. There is a whole new generation of fans (very casual fans) who probably don't know a lot about Felix, and would be confused if there was suddenly this American that Bond was the best of friends with, after Brosnan never having had a film w/ Felix.

I agree. They did however set up Bond and Felix's relationship better in LTK (well, they sorta had to, considering it was the basis of the plot). All it really takes is a few lines of dialogue, maybe show them acting like friends, you know, the usual stuff.See, that's what I mean. I didn't think the TLD Felix or his scenes worked too well. (I did like him in '24', however)

He seems to fit the description in the novel (except for the creepy nose.) It seems like most of his recent characters are dim-witted, but he can play serious and humourous. It might provide a counter/balance aspect to the film if (hopefully) Clive Owen is cast in the role, just like with Hedison's Felix with Timothy Dalton. (I always felt that Hedison had more chemistry with Dalton than Moore.)
Overall, I think having a star (but not too big a star) in the movie will be great. Also, since the Brosnan era is seemingly over, we can finally get some continuity back on track between the Bond films, and finally see what happened to Felix.
