I would finally like to see 008 in a James Bond picture. Especially since M has threatened to replace Bond so many times with this agent.

If the fellow agent is female, I hope that she is married and there is no chance of a romantic entanglement between Bond and this agent. Like John Steed never had a romantic interest in his female companions in The Avengers television series.

If they were ever to bring back the character of Felix Leiter, I hope that they cast the character wisely and sign the actor to multi-picture deal, so that there is some audience recognition of the character.

Which actor would make a good Felix Leiter?

My choices:

Gary Sinise - Except for the straw colored hair, he fits the description in Casino Royale.

Will Patton - If he's from around Texas, he'd be perfect. Plus, he won't overshadow 007.

Billy Bob Thornton - A bit long in the tooth, but could do justice to the role.

Denis Leary - Leiter could be a hyperactive comic foil to the debonair 007.

I've always thought on Bruce Campbell. He looks like a Leiter.

He's actually a really good actor I think. Have you seen Suicide Kings or Thomas Crowne Affair? He's great in both of those...very possibly Leiter material, he might not be able to pull off being a Texan though.

Denis Leary would be good.

Leiter will not be black if Eon ever does bring him back.

I always felt John Cusak would be a decent Felix. I know it's a bit of "out there" choice. But he always struck me as a good canditate.

I really didn't think we'll see Leiter back period. Perhaps they could include him into an adaption of Casino Royale, but I don't know.

Lee Horsley better known as 1980s TV detective Matt Houston. Since he's not a very well known actor, I'm sure MGM/EON could afford him. He'd be the right age if Brosnan stays in the Bond role. If not, Horsley might be a bit older but they've had older Leiters in Goldfinger, Licence To Kill and Diamonds Are Forever so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Bond Bishop you are a genius!! You stole my thunder with Bruce Campbell. He would be a great Felix--unfortunately I think that would be too bold and inspired for Eon.

It just looks that Brosnan may be out. Older Leiter's are okay. IMO it worked in Goldfinger and Licence To Kill.

How exactly would they bring back Felix Lieter? Didn't he lose his legs?

In Licence To Kill, his one leg was harmed quite a bit. I'm sure they'd think of something, and make a brief notice to it.

They managed to make Leiter work in a wheelchair in Benson's novels.

If the next movie is a period piece, set in the late 1960s,, it won't matter what happened to Leiter in 1989.

I hope it takes place in 2005 as it should. Maybe the pre-credit scene can be in the sixties or the 80's like Brosnan's. And that Felix comes back of course. If Quarrel Jr. cames back could be fun to.

Quarrel Jr.?

Hmm, that's a bit too many people to bring back just to crowd up a precredit sequence. They're long enough as it is. :)

Eon has never made a period piece and they never will. The series wouldn't be a series if they ever did that.

Wait a second, Qwerty?

Is the novelisation of Licence to Kill in the same universe as the novels. I know Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day isn't but is Licence to Kill that?

That could be, I haven't read those in a little bit. Licence to Kill seems to be though because they took into account that Leiter aleady had a connection with a shark in Live And Let Die.

Th novelisations are part of the Bond film universe and not the Bond novel universe. Some things carry over but there are more differences than similarities.

When does the LTK novelisation take place if it is a part of the novel universe. I guess it is because Gardner mentions Felix other shark accident but who is this new Milton Krest. does it stand something about him if he is a relative or so of the original Milton in The Hildebrand Rarity. Hell, I start a new thread in the Gardner boards about this!

I suppose I better reread them too, been a little while.
