My vote is for Oldman. One of the most underated actors out there.

I think Oldman would be really good.

Has anybody seen "Beat The Devil", one of the BMW short films starring Clive Owen, Gary Oldman and the man himself James Brown? And directed by Tony Scott, director of Top Gun and Man On Fire?

Oldman plys Satan. If you're for Gary Oldman you should see that short. He's over the top, but it works so well and I love over-the-top Bond villains.

00-FAN008, bro, I love the idea of Simon Le Bon. Some pictures of him I've seen look sort of evil, but classy evil.

I recently got the DVD of THE HIRE and Beat the Devil is one of my favourites.
I love it when Marilyn Manson comes to complain about the noise - Oldman's comment is priceless.

I've got it. I know who would play the perfect Le Chiffre in Casino Royale - MALCOLM McDOWELL!

Heard this mentioned a while back, Edward Norton?

Not so sure with that choice personally.

Blofeld's Cat you are 100% correct! Maury Chaykin would be a perfect Le Chiffre indeed. Didn't even think about him till you pointed him out. Veryt good choice.

Well I've never heard of him. Where is he from? Cause when I read it I can't imagine anyone. When I read about bond I see Connery but try to imagine Clive Owen, and for others,No idea. Just imagine unknown people.

Well, CBn has just reported on "apunkachoice.com"`s report about Gulshan Grover attending meetings regarding his playing a Bond villian in the next movie. He looks pretty cool in the photo and he definitely would have that "mysterious, accented villian" quality going for him. Thoughts?

Sorry, quick answer to your question Maury Chaykin is very well known to Canadians from his films and television work in that country. He is considered "Canadian" by most (even though he was born in the States), but has been consistently making inroads into international movies.

If Maury Chaykin could be Le Chiffre, why not Anthony Hopkins? They're pretty similar in my eyes and I seem to remember some disagreement over Sir Anthony before...

Since its going to be modernized, who will LeChiffre work for? Will SMERSH be replaced by some mafia organization or maybe took something from Bensen's books and use The Union?

EON should hire Jack Nicholson to play Le Chiffre. He is close to what Fleming described Le Chiffre to be in the book. He knows how to play those insane criminal types, and I could really see him playing the torture scene quite well.

Although most of his roles are villainous, Oldman would be a really great fit for Rene Mathis. I think he can pull off a Frenchman, he's played non-British characters before.

I think Daniel Craig should be Le Chiffre. He would be a formidable opponent to the new 007. His performnace in Road to Perdition was excellent and I'm hoping that his latest screen testing sightings are for the part of Le Chiffre. I cannot believe they would cast him as James Bond. He is too unattractive and weathered looking to play 007.

Peter Lorre played Le Chiffre in the TV version of Casino Royale in '55 I believe and he wasn't very chubby. I think Daniel Craig would be ideal as he has that brooding dark look about him. Combine that woith his very rough and unattractiveness he woul make a very good villian. He would get my vote.

LOL

The more I think of him the more I think he'd be perfect.

He was great...but wierd...in Entrapment. He could bring a wierdness to Le Chiffre.

Bond needs to fight another weird/grotesesque villain again.

Has anyone mentioned John Malkovich?

I think he is a brilliant actor, especially in villain roles such as:
- Con Air
- In the Line of Fire
- Mary Reilly

My particular favorite was his role as a devious FRENCHMAN in Dangerous Liaisons.

I think he would make an excellent addition to the pantheon of Bond villains.
