booyeah

...I think Del Toro's role in LTK should prevent him from coming back.

I didn't even know he was in "Licence To Kill" but he was...

I guess I just didn't notice him or didn't remember...

I saw the movie in an Edinburgh cinema when it came out and that is the only time I saw it - it is utterly forgetable and vies with "Octopussy" for the worst ever Bond movie.

However LTK was made some 16 years ago and Del Toro is a little older now...and a mean looking b@stard too in "Sin City".

Yeah...I think he'd make a great LeChiffre.

You do know that that was makeup Del Toro was wearing don't you? To add menace to his character? In Sin City? The comic? He had too memorable a role in LTK...probably second to Franchez himself.

I think Romain Duris would play a great villain - as for Mickael Youn (French humorist), I have some difficulties to imagine him as a Bond opponent.

I'm not liking these two French guys at all...they're both several years younger than Craig!? Obviously the character of Le Chiffre has been reworked a bit from the novel, and he ain't a father figure anymore. How is 'Bond Begins' going to work when Craig is the oldest guy in the room? I get a feeling just from the kind of casting they're looking at, that Bond and Le Chiffre will have a physical fight at some point.

Here's a pic of Duris anyway.

Its a rumor but I wouldn't be surprised if it actually is true! It so typically EON/Campbell to look at young actors for the role - so terrified that the series might be "dated". Unfortunately, Casino Royale without an older sinister villain will only be half as good as it could've been.

Is it possible that Romain Duris and Mikael Youn were tested as henchmen or sidekicks (Rene Mathis?) rather than the main villain? Personally I don't think either of them are well known enough internationally to play Le Chiffre. As they are younger than Craig that would give them the opportunity to be involved in action scenes and still leave room for an older actor to play Le Chiffre. Of course that will depend on who they get to play Le Chffre. Gerard Depardieu, Brendon Gleeson, Alfred Molina (all superb choices) or my own suggestion of Oliver Platt are older than Craig but they could still perform well in action scenes. But Le Chiffre does have henchmen in Casino Royale. As the story is set in the south of France it would help if they were French, and henchmen or sidekicks tend to be younger then the hero or villain.

As far as I am concerned, I don't think so. Indeed, whereas I still consider Craig is not the man to play Bond #6, I've seen many movies with Romain Duris, and it's not exaggerated to say that he's one of the most talented (young) actors in France, who I know can deliver a really fair and surprising interpretation of Le Chiffre.

I think HitchockBond may have got it right, and that they are in fact testing for the part of Rene Mathis. That makes sense to me.

Here's an off-the-wall idea for Le Chiffre (and probably not a good one either), but what about James Woods? I know, he doesn't have the physicality of Le Chiffre from the novel, but when was the last time that they were faithful to the novels anyway. James Woods plays the sleazy characters very well, which is a very big personal characteristic of the Le Chiffre character. I could easily see him doing the whole give-and-take at the poker table with Bond, and he has a very commanding presence that would make a great rival to Daniel Craig's Bond at the card table. Plus, I've seen him play cards on TV, and he is VERY good at it.

Hi !

French actors Michael Youn and Simon Abkarian were screentested for CR. The first one for the villain role, the second one for... we don't know exactly.

Here is a link to the news : http://www.allocine....e=18380394.html

What do you think of that ?

IMO actor to play Le CHIFFRE was selected long back.In fact i feel that he was selected before Mr Craig .That is the reason why they have not done any auditions now.One thing we know for sure is that Demetrius in not the main villian. With production so near it seems they selected who is going to play le Chiffre long time back.Lets wait till they commence production.

My pick is Constantine Gregory. He's an American actor and voice coach who speaks fluent Russian. He often plays Russian colonels, politicians, ambassadors and gangsters. I think he'd be ideal.

That picture of Constantine Gregory is an absolutely perfect visualisation of Le Chiffre. I did a search and found he played a minor role in Goldeneye, as the computer store owner.

I have seen him in many roles as the 'menacing foreigner' type. Like so many character actors he would indeed probably be better as Le Chiffre than most of the named stars suggested. Perhaps he could remind Campbell that he had worked for him previously!

My choices for Le Chiffre would have to be Peter Stormare(This guy has got to play a Bond villian) and Alfred Molina(Brlliant actor).

It recently came to my mind that there was this guy who used to host this game show The Crystal Maze.I cant remember his name.He was Bald, athletic build,British or American and tall .

I think this guy could make the perfect Bond Baddie as he is sinister looking ,looks that something is going on his mind.

What do you think ?

Does anyone rememmber his name.?

You mean Richard O'Brien; creator of The Rocky Horror Show (not to be confused with Rocky VI).

Wasn't he also in Flash Gordon?
