not sure what i will read after this since i dont have any around that i havent read and will have to order some more. might continue the young bond series since i only read through blood fever. or i will start with the gardner books or the moneypenny diaries.

I'm currently reading From Russia With Love (got through about 5 chapters today). After this the only Fleming I have left to read are the short story collections and The Man With the Golden Gun. Then it's on to the continuation novels.

Just started Brokenclaw. I begin each Gardner novel with the hope that it'll be a good one. I'm usually disappointed.

Bond's early encounter - and fascination - with the book's villain is not unlike that in Devil May Care: a huge coincidence and contrivance.

Nearly to the end of FRWL. Have to say, it's one of Fleming's weaker novels. I really had to fight myself to get through the first part of the book. And even when we got to the actual Bond segment, it chugs at a pretty slow pace and he can at times be so verbose it nearly puts me to sleep (this is partially because I'm reading it in school, when I'm already half-asleep). Oh well. Here's to hoping Golden Gun, Octopussy & The Living Daylights, and For Your Eyes only are better.

Have you read Devil May Care? In the story timeline it technically follows Col. Sun.

If you enjoyed the first two Young Bond novels, keep on going with them - Double or Die and By Royal Command rank among the best continuation novels ever.

If you're hankering for more Fleming, I also highly recommend the Moneypenny Diaries (starting with The Moneypenny Diaries: Guardian Angel). Largely overlooked, but a terrific trilogy of books.

Moonraker's one of my favourites. Fleming makes wonderful use of locations in London and the south of England. The "neon sign" premonition early in the book is a chilling image.

That "Die Another Day" is loosely based on "Moonraker" never occurred to me while watching the movie. After you're finished I'd be interested in hearing your reaction.

I'm just finishing "The Man with the Golden Gun" AGAIN as part of another re-reading of the last four "serial" Fleming books. I love the humour in that one: "Don't bust your stays getting through the window."

Yolt. Much better than the film !

I just re-read YOLT and there's a lot of great stuff in there that didn't make it into the movie. "Dr. Shatterhand's garden is a lovesome spot, God wot." The image of the Doctor in full samurai armour striding through the poison garden is wonderful. "Slay it with Flowers" is an ingenious chapter title - I always thought it'd be a great movie title. Perhaps the Brocco-lyes will work it in somehow one of these years.

Started Moonraker yesterday. After being completely lost during the Bridge game against Drax I am now taking it upon myself to learn how to play Bridge.

Forgot to mentch: once you learn to play bridge, for God's sake don't play with any of my relations - an agonising ordeal that put me off the game for life.

I am finishing up From Russia With Love and will soon start reading Dr.No.

The ones I liked:
1. Casino Royale- Great.
2. Live and Let Die-Awesome, and my favorite so far.
3. You Only Live Twice-Good.

LALD is terrific book, I agree. I recently bought an audio version read by Rufus Sewell. Sewell's interpretation is very enjoyable but the abridging was more than a little disappointing. The pivotal moment in which Solitaire nearly ruins Bond's plan by hysterically blurting out what she sees in the future is completely gone.

There are so many great moments in the books, this one in particular, that never made it into the films that I sometimes wonder if a round of EON remakes mightn't be a good idea.

I'm currently reading 'No Deals Mr Bond'. I havew just finished reading 'Nobody Lives Forever' and thought it was great. Towards the end of the book was certainly a lot better than the first half.

Probably Gardner's best Bond book, and, not coincidentally, the one that eschews most from the Bond formula.

Just finished James Bond and Moonraker.

I'm now reading 003 1/2: The Adventures of James Bond Junior at work.

Still working through Devil May Care at home. (I kind of lost interest. Need to re-assert myself on it.)
