Bond is just kind of moseying around for the most part so far. Nothing particularly interesting going on, he just found that huge amphibious vehicle and he is once again back at the hotel. It's kind of a dull read to be honest, especially following the relentless pace of BLOOD FEVER which I finished a couple weeks ago.

I would read Live and Let Die. Then you'll appreciate LTK and hate the movie version of LALD.I need some help deciding which 007 novel I should read next. Here are my choices:
1. Live and Let Die by Ian Fleming
2. Colonel Sun by Kingsley Amis (Robert Markham)
3. Scorpius by John Gardner
4. GoldenEye by John Gardner
Please help me decide, by posting which one you think is the best. Thanks.
I am currently reading Devil May Care. I like it.

Well written, but I still refer The Moneypenny Diaries in the spin-off department. I'm just ahalf way through the first book of the YB series, though

Just loaned Moonraker, my favorite - pages falling out and all - and Octopussy/The Living Daylights to my Father-In-Law. I piqued his interest with Eggs a la James Bond. Also a good opportunity to get new editions for further readings.
Only post Fleming books I've read are Icebreaker and Devil May Care. Not overly thrilled, though they can fill the void. Need to find a copy of Colonel Sun soon.

I never liked the whole James Bond is real angle that Fleming threw in and others played with. I'm trying hard to not let that get in the way of me enjoying this. We'll see how that goes though.

I find FRWL to be a bit disappointing. It is very dry and kind of dull. Fleming does not seem like he is as interested in Bond as he was with his first two fantastic novels, Casino Royale and Live and Let Die.
Also, it is too much like the film. After seeing the film a billion times over the past 23 years, I feel I can accurately predict what is going to happen in the book. The book is less exciting since I know the film very well. I find the book less detailed than the movie.
I have so far read six Fleming novels; three I like, and three I dislike.
The ones I liked:
1. Casino Royale- Great.
2. Live and Let Die-Awesome, and my favorite so far.
3. You Only Live Twice-Good.
The ones I disliked:
1. From Russia With Love-dry
2. Goldfinger-Great first half, but lazy second half.
3. The Spy Who Loved Me-Terrible.
Next Up- Dr. No, Moonraker, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
