For a start I would think it would be nigh impossible to find a first edition in a library anywhere. Swiping a book is an incredibly bad and immature way to behave. Also, I've considered the possibility of swiping it from a library somewhere (Sorry, miss. I lost the book...) and paying for a brand new hardback copy for the library...they'll never know what hit 'em.

Are you currently reading a 007 novel?

That happened to me when I read Jaws , it didn't equal the movie in the excitement department , imho.

no not really hated jaws the novel loved the film. however Casino Royale is on par with the film and Diamonds are forever is close to being better. So you don't feel brainwashed by the films when you read them ?

Second-hand bookstores and eBay are a gold mine.I've been interested in some of the non-Fleming Bonds for some time now (other than Devil May Care, which I already have and dislike), but they certainly aren't readily available in book stores I know. Where do you guys get them?
The only other continuation adult Bond novels currently in print are Raymond Benson's Union Trilogy, which has just been republished and can be ordered from Amazon.com, and John Pearson's superb 1973 book, James Bond: The Authorised Biography Of 007, available on Amazon.co.uk.
If you feel like branching out, check out Charlie Higson's brilliant Young Bond novels (all still in print) or Samantha Weinberg's hugely overlooked Moneypenny Diaries trilogy (also all in print).

I'll particularly be on the lookout for that Union Trilogy.

Bookstores should have decent stock of Charlie Higson's books and of Samantha Weinberg's trilogy (written under the pseudonym "Kate Westbrook").

This summer i started reading the books in order and I go through Dr. No. Over Thanksgiving I might try to read Goldfinger but at the moment I am reading Devil May Care
I started that, too, with many stops and starts when CR came out and am now at Facts of Death!

It's been some time since I've read it, but I remember being a little underwhelmed as well. It's an overrated book, I'd say.I just re-read Colonel Sun. You know, it is only an average Bond book.
