Also, I've considered the possibility of swiping it from a library somewhere (Sorry, miss. I lost the book...) and paying for a brand new hardback copy for the library...they'll never know what hit 'em.

For a start I would think it would be nigh impossible to find a first edition in a library anywhere. Swiping a book is an incredibly bad and immature way to behave.

I've been bouncing around a bit. I've been reading The Moneypenny Diaries, and Doctor No (again), and in between, my sister has me reading Chandler's The Little Sister. I prefer Hammett's Sam Spade, but she wants me to give Phillip Marlowe a try. And in between all that, I'm reading Joyce Carrington's 'Off Balance' fan-fic. Yes, in fact I do have Attention Deficit Disorder.

So you don't feel brainwashed by the films when you read them ?

That happened to me when I read Jaws , it didn't equal the movie in the excitement department , imho.

Just finished Hight Time to Kill. I'm re-reading through the Benson novels. I like them just as much, if not more, than I did when I was younger. After Benson, I think I'll re-read the Young Bond novels, before By Royale Command comes out.

I've been interested in some of the non-Fleming Bonds for some time now (other than Devil May Care, which I already have and dislike), but they certainly aren't readily available in book stores I know. Where do you guys get them?

Second-hand bookstores and eBay are a gold mine.

The only other continuation adult Bond novels currently in print are Raymond Benson's Union Trilogy, which has just been republished and can be ordered from Amazon.com, and John Pearson's superb 1973 book, James Bond: The Authorised Biography Of 007, available on Amazon.co.uk.

If you feel like branching out, check out Charlie Higson's brilliant Young Bond novels (all still in print) or Samantha Weinberg's hugely overlooked Moneypenny Diaries trilogy (also all in print).

Thanks a bundle! I'll make sure to keep my eyes open when I visit some book stores.
I'll particularly be on the lookout for that Union Trilogy.

Don't think the Union Trilogy has been released in Canada yet, but you may be able to get it ordered in.

Bookstores should have decent stock of Charlie Higson's books and of Samantha Weinberg's trilogy (written under the pseudonym "Kate Westbrook").

Just finished From Russia with Love; fantastic novel, though it did feel a bit short compared to the short story collection Quantum of Solace, which I read beforehand... :(

I'm not a terribly fast reader, but I'd like to get through most of them before Christmas (that's with the other books I should read as well). The only one I have never read is TSWLM, but I'll go through them in chronological order, which I didn't quite do the first time.

I'd like to read Live and Let Die again, but sadly I find myself too on edge with all of this QoS information to do so.

I go through some strange feelings when reading a Bond novel. I'm not that old and , like many other people, discovered Bond in film before ever laying eyes on the novels. That in turn influences the 007 I see in my head when reading the Fleming adventures. Depending on what the mood of the story is, I see a different Bond actor's face.

I am reading Casino Royale now. I am trying to convince my English teacher switching Fight Club to Casino Royale for my book report. I hope it works; last book I read for my book report was Cold Mountain and I thought it was incredibly boring.

I have wanted to read the original novels for years. I read Casino Royale as the movie was released, I am now on Moonraker (going in order). I had to wait for the new re-release for Fleming's centennial. I'm having fun with them. Does anyone else like to go through the books and pick out the devices used in the novels in DIFFERENT movies. "...spend the money quickly..." (Drax to Bond in the novel, Moonraker; Khamal Khan to Bond in Octopussy the movie).

Novel, no; but am reading THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN TOUCH, some 007 non-fiction on the films, and then next up is the Moore AutoBio.

It's been some time since I've read it, but I remember being a little underwhelmed as well. It's an overrated book, I'd say.

I've been reading this years novels again. Currently on my last one , DMC. FF and BRC were superb, but DMC is not up to that standard. But it's okay and now that my expectations are lowered is more fun.
