The Next James Bond?

I really don't know what to say on the case of Colin Salmon. I wonder how much credibility and how much they (Eon) are looking at him as 007.

Chances are, the new Bond will be a relative unknown. Most of the others have been. Roger and Pierce had cult-classic TV roles, Dalton was essentially a nobody, and Sean wasn't much worth writing home about. To put a famous actor into Bond's shoes is to overshadow the character with a pre-fabricated persona. Uncool.

As time goes on and if we don't hear an 007 announcement soon--McGregor will probably be the first of a number of potential Bonds eliminated as a possibility as they get films that interfere with the Bond filming.

We'll does one person agree with me?
No I don't think so.
IMO I think it would be a stupid move to make Bond black. James Bond is white.
I don't want to see a black James Bond. Just like I wouldn't want to see a black Sherlock Holmes. Or a black Hamlet.
Just like most Shaft fans wouldn't want to see a white guy play Shaft.
I could care less about a black Kojak though...

Be British
Be in his mid or low 20s
Be able to have suave
Be able to do stunts and action stuff
Be able to look good in Bond's suit
Be partially unknown
Have not denied any possibilites of playing Bond (such as rumors)
Who could be Bond, based on the info above?

Sorry, gadgetfusion, but your criteria are wishful thinking
Be British (really? look at the recent rumors...)
Be in his mid or low 20s (well...)
Be able to have suave (damn right!)
Be able to do stunts and action stuff (well, he must be younger than Moore in AVTAK)
Be able to look good in Bond's suit (naturally)
Be partially unknown (really?)
Have not denied any possibilites of playing Bond (such as rumors) (come on, everybody

Recent rumors say that the producers want a young, unknown Bond. As young as his low or mid 20s.
If someone denies the rumors, let's believe them.
Possibilities:
Goran Visnjic
Matthew Goode
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers

The next Bond doesn't HAVE to be in his low 20's, and lets pray to God that he isn't.
And who ever said that the next Bond has to be at least partially unknown? Where are you getting this?

Absoeffinglutely.
Joining right in on that wish! I really can't abide the thought of a 20 something Bond ( not in the true Bond film!) Make a television series with a young Bond and I'd tune in out of interest and respect for Bond, but please....not in the actual BOND FILM.
And I think the next Bond was born on May 29th and has a way with any sword...and I mean ANY sword! LOL

Aren't we do some formal annoucement based on what EON said in that press conference a couple months back? As horrible as it is to be dragged along without any hint to who EON is REALLY considering for Bond, we ARE closer to an announcement without a doubt. What makes this so damn frustrating is this IS the first "internet Bond" where there is so much more debate that brings so many of us together. I could be wrong but I do not believe there was anything like this back when Brosnan was selected since the internet was still growing. As for me, I'm just happy there IS so much to chat about regarding Bond rather than picking up a newspaper and seeing who became Bond (Dalton). Just think of the mad flurry of debate that will follow EON's eventual selection...
When was it that Campbell is due to wrap up Zorro? We won't hear anything until after that.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of the legendary and yet pitifully unfunny Dennis Miller...
BTW, I also noticed that Vijay Amritraj (Octopussy actor/pro tennis player) was born in 1953--and that's your bit of Bond trivia for the day

Right height, not a bad actor, looks more the part than Owen or Barrowman, not famous. Perhaps not the ideal age if Eon wants younger Bond but I think Clive could be a credible older Bond. I've always thought he was the only English actor out there that really looked the part.
