You are wrong Brett, Owen will be another flop, and I get your point, but you don't get my point, if you like Owen as 007, then you eat my shorts and you can have homosexual relationship with him.
I always like Hugh Jackman as 007 and he will be, so screw you.
This forum is for Bond fans to voice their own personal opinion. If you have a problem with that then i don't think you belong on here.
I think you need to wake up my friend and realise that not every one will share your point of view.
How much discussion do you think would go on if we all agreed on everything? Not much i'm sure.
I respect your opinion that you think Hugh Jackman would be a good choice to play Bond,i even agree with you on that.
You should show the same respect for other members.
I still think Clive Owen would do a good job in the role. After watching licence to kill again last night i think it would be the right time for Bond to once again show a harder edge, which he could do.I think this time around it might be better recieved.
He's still not my favorite choice but im liking him more everyday.I dont think he would be the flop you're so quick to lable him.

If you are going to look into unknowns, you should look at some of these guys. They are all british actors except for Daddo, who is Australian.
Clive Robertson
Colin Wells
Cameron Daddo
Jonathan Wrather
I haven't watched a single one of them act, but they all look the part.
I'm sure Colin Wells will be considered. He is often used to read Pierce Brosnan's parts when they screen test new actors.
They all look great, good work KB 007

There's one guy that I think would make an excellent James Bond, even though now he'd be considered too old for the part. Even if he only played Bond once, I would love to see Cary Elwes play the part!

If the late Cubby Broccoli is alive, he would pick Hugh Jackman as 007 like he did hiring 5 007 actors, and Jackman will be his choice. I reason why I want Jackman as Bond, because when I look at other actors who are considered well I can't see them as 007 material. There was a difference between Jackman and the previous Australian actor who played 007 George Lazenby:
Lazenby didn't have acting experience before becoming Bond, because he was modeling. For Jackman he already have an acting experience and he'll be a perfect choice for Bond whether he play in X-3 or not.

Whilst watching the trailers before the movie started I saw..
1) Clive Owen ...Closer
2) James Purfoy... Vanity Fair
3) Gerard Butler ... Dear Frankie
Then Gerard Butler again in the feature Phantom of The Opera
It was interesting because all three have been mentioned as possible Bonds and I got to see them all on the big screen at once! Eon have a hard choice because any one of them could carry Bond off I think ( maybe Purfoy as the weakest though).
I am quite sure that the GG won by Owen will more or less count him out as Bond.So many more scripts and oppotunities will be coming his way and he strikes me a pretty serious actor,so I doubt he will want to confine himself to one role.
My personal choice goes to Gerard Butler. He is a new contender for me because I have never really paid much attention to him before. He is only 35 so he can do a Casino Royal type film no problem or the more established older type Bond.We know he can do action and after seeing him the other night,I think he can hold the screen.
He is also Scottish, which has worked pretty well before.....

Brosnan: 'My wife helped me through Bond let-down' Pierce Brosnan turned to his wife to help him through the disappointment of being dropped as movie superspy James Bond. After the success of 2002's Die Another Day, the 51-year-old was asked to play 007 for the fifth time - but film bosses changed their minds and axed him from the role without explanation. Brosnan insists the shock and disappointment would have got on top of him if not for the support of his wife Keely. He says: "No one contacted me to tell me anything. No reason. Nothing. What do you do in circumstances like that? "I was disappointed because I'd put so much of myself into the role. And it would've been nice to get an explanation as to why and how it was coming to an end. "I don't mind admitting I was hurt and a bit mystified, but Keely said: 'You have nothing to prove to anyone. Just move on.' "I'm one of those guys who believes that you need a good, strong woman in your life. I take advice, so I've got no regrets." |

Are British mobsters better informed about Eon's casting decissions than Daily Variety or the Hollywood Reporter?

NEXT JAMES BOND BETTING ODDS NEWS: CLIVE OWEN Clive Owen's nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Closer) has resulted in a real shake up in William Hill's next James Bond betting. Clive Owen has been backed down from 4/1 to 5/2 favourite. Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor are now 4/1 joint second favourite. New to the betting is Oscar nominated Leonardo Di Caprio offered at 14/1. Clive Owen has also received support to win the Best Supporting Actor and consequently his odds have been shortened from 9/4 to 13/8. "Clive Owen's nomination has sparked a betting frenzy from James Bond fans, who feel that his heightened global recognition will have done his chances of becoming the next Bond a world of good. If the rumours that Sony wish to sign a real star are correct, then punters could be spot-on in their dash to back Owen. We have also had a few enquiries for Leonardo Di Caprio who must be a very unlikely 14/1." said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams Latest Hills next James Bond: 5/2 Clive Owen, 4/1 Hugh Jackman, Ewan Mc Gregor, 5/1 Orlando Bloom, 8/1 Dougray Scott, 10/1 Jude Law, Christian Bale, 14/1 James Purefoy, Gerald Butler, Leonardo Di Caprio, 20/1 Ioan Gruffudd, 25/1 Russell Crowe, Dominic West. |

Hugh Jackman is miles ahead of any other Bond Contender. Clive Owen looks more like a Red Grant than a 007. He will make a fantastic 007 villian though.

I agree with you on Owen.
I think Butler is far and away the best of those recently mentioned, though, in look, voice, poise and attitude.
Butler as Bond and Owen as villain would make a great movie!!!

Christian Bale
Hugh Jackman
Gerard Butler
Clive Owen
The other blokes mentioned as candidates just don't move me. I feel like there's a level of wattage required of the Man-Who-Would-Be-Bond. The four men above have it, IMO. The rest don't.
[BTW, after watching half of "King Arthur" last weekend, I started to question Owen's suitability for the role. He just wasn't projecting that leading man charisma that is so essential for the role of 007. But, remembering "Croupier", "Bourne" the BMW commericials et. al., I'm treating the "King Arthur" performance as anomalous, for now]

Hugh 'Encino Man' Jackman?
Dougray 'Iron-Deficient' Scott?
Ioan 'Eraserhead meets Lyle Lovett' Gruffud?
Or Clive 'James Bond in Ian Fleming's Casino Royale' Owen?
Totally unbiased picture selection, of course.

As for Bookmakers, if I understand correctly, odds are determined by amounts of money bet on or against something, not on whether or not they have some inside information. The odds only show what we already know... that nobody knows anything for sure. But in this case people are actually willing to place money on their guesses.
Sorry, Owen-ites, but regardless of a Golden Globe or even an Oscar win, though Clive Owen is a very strong actor, I still can't see him as Bond.

Source: EDP24At 6ft 2in, with dark hair and blue/grey eyes, some have even said they'd like to see him take over from Pierce Brosnan as the new James Bond.
Richard seems surprised by the suggestion, but admits it would be an "amazing" role to play.
