We're not actually entitled to any of this, y'know.

I suppose film scores in general underwent some kind of evolution since the days of Barry. Today they have to stand up against so much other noise.
Not if the post effort is done with composer and sound team working in concert. Listen to the 1978 BODY SNATCHERS and you'll hear the rarest of things, a film in which sound effects and music dovetail perfectly, at many times invisibly. But post on Bond films seems fraught by 'too much to do in too little time,' and always have. Way way back, I remember Barry bitched that Lewis Gilbert didn't understand Dolby and buried some of his MOONRAKER score with the process.
On SKYFALL, the sneaking up on the guy in the glass tower scene (the only thing I like in the whole movie) is undermined by the use of score when what you NEED is silence, save for the sound of wind when the glass is cut away. The suspense was already there, the composer didn't need to do the James Horner 'amp things up at all times' routine. I think the composer's earlier work, like PERDITION, was excellent, but SKYFALL was a musical disaster (in a way, given how much I dislike the movie, I guess it was in keeping with the rest of the pic, which is a step away from some of the Moore Bonds scored by Barry, which often have nothing going for them except art direction and score.)

But I also don't think that Skyfall is a disaster, so...

I guess the question is - how much of the album it's going to be, the whole thing (doubt it) or a few tracks....I remember Michael Giacchino debuting like 4/5 tracks, including a suite that wasn't on the album, from Star Trek Into Darkness on radio.

I'm expecting something similar tomorrow. I shall certainly depart from my work for a short while to have a listen.

I think the other was The Moors, so we had an action-type theme, a love theme and an introductory/transitional cue. When parts of the SF soundtrack were released online prior to the full sountrack, I think we heard three excerpts - one of which was part of one of my favourite cues from the soundtrack, Severine. I think another was part of "New Digs".

Keen to see if Newman builds upon his SKYFALL themes or goes in a different direction.

Hoping tomorrow will answer the gunbarrel question.
Then again, I don't think the opening gunbarrel cues ever were included on the soundtrack albums? Unless the barrel cue carries over into the following cue like the short sting at the start of "Grand Bazaar" from Skyfall.

Except for Goldfinger and the last three, those are only on the expanded reprints.
(Which is only one of the many reasons they are worth collecting!)

That premiere is too early for me. Let me know how it sounds.
Will do. Roughly a week later than SKYFALL; I was getting a bit impatient!

Terrific. Many tracks, which is lovely. Interesting that the instrumental of WOTW is placed in the middle. Might that be hinting at a use of the melody within the score?
Then again, the order of the tracks probably is not chronological - the "Day of the Dead"-track would have to come at the beginning. Or is it a reprise that is having thematic relevance later on in the film?

I was dreading something dumb like 'Track 18: Blofeld' Although I had to re-read 'Blindfold'.
I wonder what the end credits will be with 'Spectre', and funny it's not in capital letters.

(Come to think of it, the SF titles didn't really, only when you heard the tracks - one in particular at the end - did it hint at a tragic ending for M)
I'm looking forward to 10.30 this morning and Classic FM's item on the soundtrack.
