My feeling is that this is a photo from the Spectre set prior to construction. That is, that the tank is drained because something large is about to be built in front of the blue screen.

On CR, the  Paddock Tank was used for the collapsing palazzo and the surrounding canal. With a very large model built in front of the blue screen.

My guess is that they are about to do something along those lines. Large models that need to be near water and with a big blue screen to place them into one of the locations via VFX.

This is probably really stupid but could it be for the 15th century Quattro Fontane sequence?

In the Paddock Tank? No.

The Quattro Fontane isn't a really large fountain for which they'd need loads of water. It's a (rather narrow) street crossing, and there are four fountains, built into the corners of the houses. You can look it up on Google Street View, but the last time I checked, there was scaffolding in front of the fountains as they were just being restored.

Here are three of the fountains:

Thanks Stromberg. It's beautiful. The Italians cancelled filming there, didn't they? I wonder if they'll reconstruct it in the UK, or just go for a new location?

The latest from Italy suggests they might have reached a compromise over the Quattro Fontane sequence, with the city authorities asking that a particularly risky bit of the chase isn't filmed at the junction.

Lovely photos. The Jaguar looks really aggressive, and I think the DB10 will become a fan favourite.

Possibly. The CR stuff looked great when matched to the real footage. Another guess would be something for any of the scenes filmed on the lake involving the boats. My last notion would be that it could be covered with a ton of fake snow as well.

Recently an FX buddy who does a lot of outdoor sets had told me about something rather ingenious. Some sort of biodegradable fake snow that stacks and packs well, but rather than having to be scooped or vacuumed up after, it just has to be hosed down or treated with a bunch of water and it dissolves. Quite clever and practical too when you think about it.

Whatever the case, I'm sure it will be so well done we won't even notice.

Another small delay for the film: Daniel Craig's injured his knee during 'a choreographed fight scene'.

Apparently it's just a sprain and he'll be filming again by Saturday. Hope he recovers well, and soon.

Phew! Fortunately it's not as bad as when Brosnan's knee injury on Die Another Day required surgery and forced filming to stop for a week..

No, from the original report in the The Sun, it seems he hurt it slightly - and then the extras were sent home a little early. Nothing to be too worried about.

Looks like they've got a replacement on hand if Craig's knee gets any worse:-

Didn't Craig injure himself during the production Skyfall or was that QoS?

He injured his arm during Quantum of Solace. He had it in a sling during publicity on the film. I'm sure he's fine though, every film has it's problems.

For example, in Casino Royale he had to learn to "drive stick" ;)

Yep..Over the years a number of unfortunate injuries have happened to all of the Bond actors while filming at some point..

- Roger getting shrapnel in the bum while shooting the final confrontation with Stromberg in TSWLM and having kidney stones during LALD and MR

- Tim getting his finger sliced open by Benecio del Toro during the cocaine grinder sequence in LTK

- Pierce with the knee injury during Die Another Day

- Daniel with the QoS arm injury and now this SPECTRE knee sprain.

Not sure about George or Sean, although Sean was almost eaten by a shark during the pool sequence in Thunderball.. :D

Yes, being 007 is a risky business!

I Wonder if they'll use that take? Several films have been enhanced by accidents on set making their way into the final films.
For example:
"I'm walking here" from Midnight Cowboy - adlib from Hoffman after the taxi accidentally almost hit him.
When Viggo Mortensen kicks a helmet in Lord of the Rings and screams in frustration - he'd actually screamed in pain after breaking two toes.

and finally, apparently Bond doing the Andress out of the sea in Casino Royale was also a happy accident that worked. Word goes that when Bond rises from the sea, in those tight blue trunks, and causes many women's knees to buckle happened because Craig came upon a hidden sandbank.

According to Craig

It was actually by accident, where we filmed, off the Bahamas, it's just one of those places where there is a sand shelf and the sand shelf happens to be three feet deep. Because the idea was, I was supposed to swim in and sort of float off, but I swim in and stand up. And it was just one of those things.

Craig said he realised almost immediately that it would be compared to the Andress moment.

It was going through my mind... as I did it, I went, 'Oh f***.' But I didn't realise the repercussions of it,I had no idea I would be haunted by it for the rest of my life.

Lea Seydoux reportedly missed the premiere of her new film because of "mishaps" on the SPECTRE set, causing disruption to the shooting schedule.

Apparently that was a mistranslation, it was referring to Craig's injury.

Wasn't there an opulent residence in Italy that was originally scouted but later ditched by the production? This could be the stand in.
