I was going to say....no one has mentioned DC's hair yet....is that a good thing?!
I was thinking the same thing.
Good to see him with a regular hair length...

Okay...
Cryptic message from Bond's past, likely regarding Oberhauser, who we presume is Waltz. Possible that Waltz's character (likely Blofeld) had a hand in the death of Bond's parents, making the conflict between them personal?
Scott is part of the MI6 team, and the consensus thus far seems to be that he's a double-agent of some sort. On the other hand, most seem to agree that a Moriarty-style reveal that he is the real Blofeld is a bit too obvious. Maybe Scott is simply an ambitious government type who is giving Mallory political fits on the home front... and who will be revealed to a SPECTRE op at story's end or in Bond 25.
We have two Bond girls with limitless femme fatale potential. Belluci is older, and the name Lucia Sciarra is certainly evocative of Fiona Volpe. Seydoux did a marvelous job as a baddie in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Could they both be villains? Belluci as a high-level SPECTRE op, and Seydoux as Blofeld's daughter (ala For Special Services)?
If the Oberhauser stuff is true, it would seem to make a SPECTRE/Quantum connection less likely. Then again, all it would take is a line of dialogue or two to establish that one organization became, or was just a smaller branch of, the other. Personally, I think this depends entirely on whether or not Sam Mendes wants the movie so closely linked to QoS.

"Terrible truth", "Spectre", "the past", "Oberhauser", "end of the secret service", "new Aston Martin" - sounds like another rehash of bits and bobs from former glories either written or filmed.
I like the cast. I saw The Green Hornet recently and Christoph Waltz turned crap to gold every time he was on screen. I like the locations although maybe there are too many of them, QOS suffered much from its zippy globetrotting.
However since CR I've had a foreboding about each new Bond and I haven't been proved wrong yet. They will reimagine something from the books or films and shoehorn it into a modern plot. We could do without any machinations back at headquarters; they've played this to death in the last two movies and it detracts from Bond's adventures. There is plenty of this sort of intrigue on TV shows already so I can do without it when I go to the cinema, thank you.
I like the idea of Bond discovering something dreadful about the past, but for me the age of Monica Bellucci and the introduction of a character called 'Oberhauser' [mentioned in OP] who is a similar age, already hints at a female villain who is in someway attached to Bond and MI6's past. The producers surely aren't going to steal another of John Gardner's ideas are they?
Generally though, despite misgivings, I'm rather excited about this. Maybe it's the brilliant poster.

Done!
Great overall enthusiasm, I see. It's good to have such fresh-reaction positive vibes.

I liked the short military style cut that he had in Skyfall, but it's good to see him back with hair nearly akin to Casino Royale.

I think the octopus/ghost is the Spectre symbol. Remember in the old films how they all had those rings?
At least with the casting of Andrew Scott, there's at least SOME question of who's playing Blofeld. It's funny, since getting hooked on "Sherlock", I thought that they ought to involve the series' writers, but instead, they involve its villain. Would rather see Scott playing a good guy, personally, just for a change.
Happy to have a one-word title.

Even though it's quite a spoiler, I really like SPECTRE as the title and it makes it all really exciting. I'm really curious if there will be some sort of connection to Quantum (I actually think so).
Also, could this mean that we might see the story of the YOLT novel in perhaps already the next movie?

I was really hoping for Risico and not fully onboard with SPECTRE. In fact, when it started spelling out the title slowly my heart skipped a beat when I thought it was Risico. But like when an expectant father who is hoping for a boy, once he sees his little girl he falls instantly in love.

The most exciting thing for me was the announcement of the previously unknown filming location: Mexico City. I loved Mexico as the backdrop (doubling for Isthmus City) in LTK. I wonder if SPECTRE will have to do with drugs. After all, due to competition from Latin America, prices are down.

its interesting that the shot is clearly thru glass (or ice) of some kind (or both) - lending the idea that theyre making a reference to the bullet in the windshield that killed Tracy? and the fact that theres is some kind of snowy/icy theme to the film

Since Sam Mendes referred to MI6 characters as "Whitehall staff" I hope we won't be seeing the nondescript MI6 Building offices and see the reintroduced classic office set with the padded door.

Yep. Also see Shrublands' profile picture. How prescient!I think the octopus/ghost is the Spectre symbol. Remember in the old films how they all had those rings?

The Synopsis is really interesting to me. It discloses about Bond's past, so we're going to learn more about his past and this Oberhauser. With M battling political forces, I can only say that this won't directly pick up right where Skyfall left off, but the fallout from that film (M [Dench] death, Silva, compromised agents and compromised national security, etc) will all be dealt with. So Spectre can either be something that goes back to his childhood to possibly his parents (not saying it will, just throwing this out there), it could be essentially Quantum 2.0 (I hope not), or this secret organization that literally, nothing is known about (in the film).
The cryptic message is probably relating more to Oberhauser, more than anything. The way I'm taking this in, is that Spectre in this film has been around for some time, just in the shadows, and that there's some sort of conspiracy. Could possibly involve anything. Who Knows. I'm probably rambling now. I've been up for a day now.
Just realized maybe I should've put this in spoiler text....
Interestingly, it won´t be Hannes but Franz Oberhauser...
... according to another Bond site. Could they be wrong?

That detail comes from the initial Daily Mail report about who Waltz was playing in the film. They got the scoop on the "Oberhauser" name before anyone else, so clearly their source was legitimate. They were very specific that Waltz was playing Hans Oberhauser's son, Franz.Interestingly, it won´t be Hannes but Franz Oberhauser...

Also my lower right arm. Finally people will know what my Tattoo is!
Man, that new Aston is beautiful. Can't wait to hear that roar.
So, Bond 24 is SPECTRE. Very happy about this news, thought it sounded a bit naff when it was rumoured but once again hearing it confirmed makes it sort of just snap into place and make sense. Very happy about today.

Monica Bellucci would be the oldest Bond "girl" to date, assuming she's playing a love interest. She's 50 years old and looks amazing.
I hope not. She's been rumoured since Casino Royale was announced. It'd be like casting Penelope Cruz because she'd be an actress who has been rumoured for a while, plus she's not that good an actress.
How wrong you are

Wait so is "Spectre" what the bond film is called or just confirming that Spectre will be in the movie.. I am confused.

My biggest question is just who sends the cryptic message? Oberhauser? Silva? Vesper? Camille? Greene? I'm thinking SPECTRE will link to the previous films and not just Skyfall, but also Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
Wait so is "Spectre" what the bond film is called or just confirming that Spectre will be in the movie.. I am confused.
It's the what it's called.

DC did mention "using the organization" so based on that yes, the Special Executive for Counterintelligence, Terror, Revenge and Extortion is involved with the films plot.

Much agreed. Glad to see it back to the Casino Royale length and style. He looks a great deal younger with his hair like this.
Have a hair-cutters appointment today. Looks like I know what to ask for, now.

I'm hoping. A set of machine guns ala Skyfall would even be enough for me.
