Vincent and the Doctor!

Classic!

10 out of 10! Nearly brought a tear to my eyes at the end.

What is Saturday without Who?

HF

It was a brilliant piece of televison, especially at the end when they took Vincent to the museum to see his works displayed. Wonderfully acted.

What spoilt the episode for me was the giant genetically modified four legged space chicken that was on its way to KFC when it got left behind. That was just silly.

Did I miss hear, or was the extremely underused Bill Nighy playing a "Doctor Black"...?

And, if so, is it coincidental that Nighy was VERRRRY close to getting the Doctor Who job in the mid 2000s if it hadn't been for his success in "Love Actually"?

I think The Angels episode is still my fave of season 5 but this came close, best semi historical story since the Unquiet dead for me.

THE LODGER

What a remarkable delight I must say.

Every episode better than the previous. Good job and thumbs up to the producers again.

The style, the stories and all the characters are top notch, nothing less in this series.

Matt Smith was so much fun to watch in the Lodger, and in my book he has become the best Dr of them all.

He is so energetic you can almost feel his vigor in each scene.

Good job too to the guy who played Craig, his flat mate in last night’s episode. Couldn't stop laughing when they knocked heads together.

Yep.

The Doctor has become such a delight to watch.

Hmm well the Lodger was funny thanks to the Awesome work of Matt Smith an some nice 'fish out of water' scenes, but the support in terms of plot and cast were less than stellar imo....fluff but fun I guess is still ok and the last pause for breath before the season hits the conclusion.

The Doctor trying to pass as a human? Brilliant. Fun scenarios and dialogue showcasing his alien eccentricities. And as said, Smith shone. I really like him in the role.

Looking forward to the next two episodes. High stakes and lots of villains showing up. And it seems like they've saved up the special effects budget for it.

Now... saw The Hungry Earth last night; wasn't so bad, but the little dyslexic boy with the headphones annoyed me to no end, and the genocidal Silurian chick...

Fluff. That's the word.

I would have thought these last two episodes would have been better placed earlier in the run. Not really much of a build-up to the grand finale, are they?

I have no idea what you're talking about. B)

Vincent and the Doctor is the name of the title, we can't change it just for you. Plus, you know that the UK is in front of the US by a few weeks, so you know they'll be some pretty in-depth discussion going on. If you're so offended by spoilers, then it would be wise to stay out of the thread.

I haven't said anything spoilerish at all.

Sadly it had that throw everything at the wall approach RTD used times many, spectacular and exciting but totally reliant on a coherent resolution...hopefully Moffat is upto the task that RTD could never rise to......a week is too long to wait mind, wonder if I can be put into suspended animation to make it pass faster!

Well, it was an RTD-style setup for an RTD-style blowout, just like we'd been told it would be. So now the question is, can the Moff pull off what RTD could not, or is next week going to be bat[censored] insane as usual? It was a solid outing nonetheless, though not the strongest this season or Moffat's personal strongest. Of course there's still next week for the whole of the story, but still.

Have to say, can't wait for next season though. I'll see if I can't find the video again, but in an interview Moffat did while they were in New York, he stated that his idea for next season's finale was a smaller, more intimate story. After six consecutive blowouts, it'll be nice to have just a story. Of course this isn't necessarily set in stone, but I like to think it'll turn up that way.
