True... perhaps he could be an enormous fan of the Doctor?Corden as the antagonist in hiding....? You don't cast him to play SMITHY again unless there is an angle.

I'm glad that they're getting away from the 'alien planet of the week' thing, and trying something interesting. The Doctor as a human? I wouldn't mind seeing that. We've seen John Smith as a human, but not the Doctor.
I fail to see why there has be an antagonist. Can't the Doctor just accidentally send the TARDIS a week or two into the future and be forced to live an ordinary life for a little while?

And interesting that the tweed look was Smith's idea. I figured he had some say, like a lot of past Doctors have, but still thought it was largely the producers. Now I kind of want to see that "piratey" costume, though...

Apparently he hated the pirate look. I think I read somewhere that Smith believes it's not how The Doctor would dress himself. He thinks it’s someone else’s idea of how he would. I recall Troughton’s original costume was going to look ‘piratey’ as well. But as we know, that was changed too - and in came the bow tie.And interesting that the tweed look was Smith's idea. There is this quote about his costume, too.
"What's interesting about this particular Doctor's look is that it's going to constantly evolve," he said. "Steven [Moffat] is very keen that he's a man who gets up in the morning and wears clothes because it's cold."

Interesting indeed. Wonder what we'll end up with.

I've read a review of "The Eleventh Hour" at the Den of Geek website. It was spoiler-free and all. It said that the episode was not much of a shift from Russell T. Davies. While I don't expect much of a change in tone, I think we can expect a huge change in the themes Moffat and Co. explore during his control of the show.

Just judging by that 30 second preview, Smith seems really likeable in the role.

"The Eleventh Hour" is showing up on ABC's iView on April 16, two days before it hits our screens. I'll see it before then, but anyway.I'M SO EXCITED, So glad Aust doesn't have to wait 4 months to see it.
As for that trailer, my excitement levels may have something to do with it, but I feel this is going to be the best series of Doctor Who yet. It looks slick and entertaining. It has a particular sheen to it.

Looks amazing. This season really does look movie standard.
I think Smith will seriously challenge Tennant.

Funny how accents will remain in future centuries isn't it?
Scouse (Stubbs) , Swedish (Sondergaard) and German (Prof. Jaeger) and whatever happened to Rick James (Cotton)?

I do wonder when Moffat says "less budget means more inventiveness"....that is exactly when the show doesn't work. I have a hunch.... best Doctor / worst series... though I am prepared to be proved very wrong. And hope I am.

Also, is it just me, or does Smith's Doctor seem to be playing it up so they underestimate his intelligence? That's almost Troughton-esque...

I would have to disagree there. Classic Who may not look as good, but New Who has, more than a couple of times, let shiny budget override story. If less budget means the plot doesn't look like it was made in Brewster, consider me pro-cuts. Honestly that's the biggest thing I'd want from the new season(s). Less episodes where I'm enthralled while watching but by the next morning can barely find anything to make me even consider re-watching it, which is where large portions of Series 3, 4, and all of the specials have fallen for me.
Matt Smith went on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, and they played this "Vampires in Venice" preview.
Nice.
Edit:
Mr Blofeld, a lot more than Second did that. In fact just about every Doctor has done it at one point or another, except perhaps Six. Been a while since I've gone through the whole catalogue but don't remember Six ever playing dumb, as it were.
