A tiny part. I'd wager the general film-going public don't particularly care.reviewers say it is a classic but isn't gunbarrel part of that?
It doesn't bother me either. The best thing they can do now is always keep the gunbarrel at the end, and not chop and change in future.
Anyway, the great news are the positive reviews. I know we all expected it, but great to see Mendes has apparently lived up to the expectations.

Sounds awesome but no gun barrel in the beginning has me upset. Silva is openly gay? That should be interesting!
I thought more people would be talking about that. Was this already widely known?

I'm not hugely phased by this, but I think it's inevitable that Mendes or the producers will have to explain this at some point.Every bondfan want the Gunbarrel at the Beginning, why they put it on the End of the Film, i want Answers from the Producers
I suspected it after seeing the trailer, but I don't think it was particularly discussed since.I thought more people would be talking about that. Was this already widely known?

Maybe in the past, JB resisted Silva's advances and that really got him pissed.....LOL

Bond vs Silva in skyfall is like batman vs the joker. Delicious.

In my haste to review #SKYFALL, failed to mention that cinematographer Roger Deakins is a god.

#SKYFALL DONE - been to press screening - Bond back to its roots. 5 stars.

Yeah, Silva being gay isn't surprising. Interested to see how it's handled, though.
I admit to being surprised. It's routine for action movie villains to be effeminate or vaguely "bent", but explicitly gay is something else. If the depiction isn't pitch-perfect, they risk being accused of perpetuating yada yada yada. (And not without some justification, considering Bond's history with this stuff.) So I'm impressed that they've decided to go there. And it makes a lot of sense, given some of the stuff Bardem has said about the character. I can well imagine how this trait might figure in Silva's personal calamities and motivations for taking revenge, and how it could result in a more sympathetic and complex character.

Not sure about 'explicitly gay' i believe in one of the reviews it mentioned a scene between Bond and Silva being 'loaded with meaning'. I'm guessing it's implied at best.

have any movies change some stuff after getting early reviews and make some minor changes to the film? Could this happen here? maybe the gunbarrel at the end is some test only
No. Because then the reviewed film isn't indicative of what the audiences end up seeing. The gun barrel is at the end.

Yes, from a handful of reviews, I think it's strongly implied that Silva has some level of attraction to Bond, but I doubt it will be stated verbally.

The Guardian is the worst so far, but there are still lots of positives in there. The reviewer's real issue seems to be with any emotion in the final stages of film, which I'm sure will be a strong aspect for many Bond fans.Any negative reviews yet? Haven't seen any.
Jane Crowther @totalfilm_jane
Silva in skyfall is part Lecter, part Joker, part Liberace. THE best thing in it.
